Payton and Vonleh is a dream, that just may come true. I like Payton far more than Exum. So that's essentially getting 2 top 5 picks.

I really hope a team in front of us messes up and takes Exum. If we want a high risk high reward pick, give me Vonleh. Plenty of TRUE pg's should be there at 12.

I love what Jameer has done for this team and city, but god I'm so ready to move on from him. I will only be happy with him on this team if he's playing 15-18 minutes a night and making the vet min.

In my first post I said that if he falls out of the top 3, he will fall out of the top 5 as well.

My point is, I don't care how bad a team is at drafting (I'm a magic fan, I'm used to terrible drafting) there is no way 3 GM's could pass on Embid unless something is really *****ed up with his back or foot. If Embid is there at 4, something is seriously wrong with him because I refuse to believe there are 3 complete water heads for GM's that will be picking a head of us unless Otis Smith is GM'ing for all of those teams.

If 3 teams pass on Embid purely because he is going to be out for 4-6 months, than that is just atrocious managing. There is no way 3 GM's can pass on the clear No1 player all because he will miss the first couple months of the reg season. I refuse to believe that. If Embid falls to 4, that will only be the case because he has some major lingering concerns that GM's are afraid of, and in that case I would pass on him at 4 too. Now if for whatever reason the Cavs, Bucks and Sixers all just can't bear not having Embid play for a couple of months (meaningless months at that, more so for the bucks and sixers) then hell yea I want Embid at 4 because we would be getting one of the biggest steals in the draft in years.

So essentially he said that Embid could potentially be drafted anywhere in the draft but he will get drafted. Cool. Glad he gets paid to make those kind of statements.

I would take Randle above Vonleh and Gordon without hesitation so I don't think it's crazy. Just takes one of those GM's to feel the same.

Gibson would be really nice next to Vuch. Give us the 16 and we can add a little depth on the pine. Smart Vic Harris Taj Vuch Harkless Quinn Stauskas/Hood/McDermott Then with Chi's 16 we grab best PG available for backup.

100% agree. Team needs to win a few more games this year. Embid is just coming off to me like he's going to be a huge talent because of his size, but his body can't handle that size. I did not know that and that is interesting but, regardless, Magic IMO will never win a title with JV. That guy has no fire and just screams assistant coach to me. But I know this isn't the thread for this talk so I'll regress.

A lot of what the Spurs do works because they have one of the best coaches in NBA history. I'm not saying I do not want to follow suit, of course I do, but if you think were gonna build a dynasty that resembles the Spurs with JV running the show, don't hold your breath. But I think JV is just a transitional coach for us anyways. I hope.

If we are drafting for fit with our current roster, PF at 4 and PG at 12 makes most sense. But if we feel Exum/Smart are that much better than any of the PF's I think we will without question go that route. Teams that win less then 25 games 2 years in a row shouldn't draft just for need. BPA.

These are good reasons. I was just saying if someone says that Smart won't be an effective player because defenders will just play off him, I feel that to be a stretch.

Like many others have pointed out, Smart can improve his shot. You can sag off him all you want, he can still dribble into you and use his frame to work his way into the paint. I never understood the concept of "They'll just play off him on defense". Okay so what stops the offensive player from just dribbling further and further into the space your giving up to him? It's funny to me. I'm not saying he doesn't need to improve his shot, he does. But it's not like Smart becomes a useless player if coaches decide "Hey let's just play off him", if that was the case he would not be getting drafted in the first round.

Cavs were never going to take Embid anyways. They are taking Wiggins and that's that.

If we draft Exum and Meer still starts week 1 I'm going to lose my mind. If he ever starts again I'm actually going to lose my mind. Losing my mind aside, I would expect JV to butcher the rotations regardless so I don't see it as a huge concern.

Yep. I used to hate them. They just always were winning but were boring to watch. Nothing sexy about them. I guess as I've continue to watch them play I've learned to respect every aspect of their team. From the way they are coached, to the way they are run in the front office—they do it the way it should be done. They have no divas. No one that feels they are bigger than the organization, and it is beyond refreshing to watch. They have players who actually let the coach coach them. It's a crazy concept. Tell me one other current NBA team where their future HOF player let's their coach chew them out whenever they make a mistake. There is none. From top to bottom, I can only hope that someday the Magic have an organization like that. I think we have the right GM in place for that, but not the right coach.

Not sure I can take 2 more weeks of this. Why are we even discussing Tiers? Were picking between 3 palyers: Exum, Smart or Vonleh barring a trade. Let's debate those 3. Not what tiers we put players in.

The Melo talk is so funny to me. Does anyone else realize how bad of a fit that would be? If I'm a Heat fan, I want no part of bringing in another super star. I want to trade (somehow) Bosh and his contract and clear up space to sign 2-3 "good players". 7-8 mill a year type guys. Would you rather have 1 Chris Bosh or 3 Aaron Affalo type players?
