While CP3 rumors swirl...

Recommended Posts

he did turn the ball over a lot though.

Not really... he had two bad games, one good game, and 3 great games. Most of his turnovers came from his first bad game.

His average TOs against BOS were just around his season average.

Howard dropped 30, 32, and 28 points on Rasheed and Perkins. Also had a 21 point game on good percentages.

The notion that Howard's post game is poor is extremely outdated. What the team needs to do is feed him the ball earlier and with better passes.

Like GhostAnime pointed out he turned the ball over a lot. Boston still was able to guard him 1 on 1. They basically said go head Dwight get your numbers but we're not gonna double you and were gonna stay home on the shooters. His numbers were irrelevant because he didn't force double teams. A lot of his points were off others creating for him. So he's gotta get to the point where he can not be guarded 1 on 1.

It's good you reference to GhostAnime's post but then completely ignore what I said. Howard turned the ball 7 times in game one, but every other game was just around his season average. 3.5 turnovers for the series and for the season, he averaged 3.25. Take that 7 turnover game out and he averages 2.8 turnovers, which is less than his season average.

Saying his numbers were irrelevant is ridiculous. That's like saying Shaq's numbers or Hakeem's numbers were irrelevant because those guys were single covered a lot. Howard led the starters in ORTg and his TS% was extremely high. Oh, and that's against the supposedly "best" defenders for Howard.

I really don't understand why people continue to believe that a center who averages around 20 ppg on over 55% shooting has no post game, especially when the guy is capable of putting up 30 points on 69% shooting (oh yeah, and only 2 dunks) against this supposed Anti-Howard squad.

Had the Magic's wingmen not crapped it up and the team won, Howard would've gotten praised, but since they didn't, all of the sudden it's because he had no post moves. It's almost as bad as people blaming the stretch four only when the team loses.

I don't understand why Laker fans tend to give Howard so much gripe. The guy has as decent of a post game as you can ask for at this current age. Only asking him to be somewhat limted to Rasheed Wallace and Kendrick Perkins out of the rest of the league save for Yao Ming is honestly just being a [EDIT] at this point.

Howard's post game could be a little more refined, but doesn't that scare some of you? He's only 24! Just because he's not Bynum or Pau Gasol doesn't mean he isn't a back to the basket big man. Blaming the star of the team isn't always the most logical conclusion.

Bynum...?? Howard and Bynum shoot the same percentage from close range (which excludes dunks) and more than half of Bynum's close range field goals are assisted, while 39% of Howard's are assisted (meaning Howard created more on his own). Howard's inside eFG% is also higher.

Bynum does have a somewhat better "jump shot", but Howard's post game > Bynum's post game

But yes, Howard is VERY raw. For his very first years in the league, he really concentrated on getting bigger and stronger. It's finally now that he can take his offense to another level, unless he decides to bulk up even more (which I doubt he'll do).
