  1. That could be potentially an excellent starting line up. But I don't think there is a guarantee that we will take McLemore, now that Smart has decided to go back to school. Another choice might be to take Trey Burke. He's been very impressive. He can score well, got a good jump shot. He can run the floor pretty successfully, and has shown he has clutch ability. For me, he could be an excellent option to take if we're looking for a replacement to Jameer, because as it stands we could get picks or more young pieces in return if we decide to trade him instead of letting him walk for free. Some question his height, but he's got a good enough game to compensate.

I suppose McLemore might have a higher ceiling, and better size. But there are big questions around him having that killer instinct, and him going missing could be an issue. I don't see that being a major issue because mentality has been a question mark surrounding certain top players. Take Durant and Lebron, both guys at one point or another had question marks over being 'too nice', but both guys have made huge steps and have become dominant players. Now I'm not saying McLemore is on their talent level, but a guy can develop a killer instinct in the right environment. That being said, the kid has a high ceiling and could be an excellent shooting guard.

Not sure which guy I would take, but either Burke or McLemore will be the guys I think we'll end up targeting. I guess it depends whether we want to keep Jameer or Afflalo in the starting line up next year, or which guy has more value, but whichever we decide to keep I think the other will be gone.

As for John Wall, he would be an excellent replacement for Jameer. He's an extremely talented guard though he would be wanting a max deal or at least a very big pay day. Personally I see him staying in Washington, but we could be an appealing prospect if Harris, Vuc and Harkless take big strides forwards next season. He might find being on that team more appealing than staying in Washington, unless they bring in more pieces.

I think we might have a chance if we go into free agency and sign a big name or two. For example:

    - Chris Paul (PG), Monta Ellis (SG), Harkless (SF), Harris (PF), Vucevic ©; or Chris Paul/Monta Ellis (PG), McLemore (SG), Josh Smith (SF), Harris (PF), Vucevic ©

I think both of those two teams could compete for a play off spot, but I'm not convinced that they will happen since we'll probably try to tank one more season, or at least leave ourselves with significant cap space for 2014. But if we did try to make a splash in free agency and landed a couple of borderline star players, then we could make a run at the play offs, though we might be best waiting for a franchise changing talent like Wiggins.

With that in mind if our line up next year is:

    - Trey Burke (PG), Afflalo (SG), Harkless (SF), Harris (PF), Vucevic ©; or Nelson (PG), McLemore (SG), Harkless (SF), Harris (PF), Vucevic ©

Then I don't see us making the play offs. Sure if Harkless, Harris and Vuc all make a huge step forwards, and then our latest first round pick contributes as well whoever fills the remaining spot (be it a vet or another young piece), then we could have an outside chance of making it. The 8th spot is probably going to be up for grabs, but personally I don't see that happening. We'll improve our record and might not be the worst team, but I think we'll still be among the top five worst teams next season.

I might be a loner on this subject but what is so special about Wiggins and Parker that Harkless and Harris can't bring us? Maybe Wiggins is a better scorer/jaw dropping athlete...he reminds me of a better version of Gerald Green/T-Mac w/ no intangibles, now Parker is more of a franchise player that can represent an organization in a positive way! (But is he really that much different from T.Harris and want to tank a season to acquire?)

On a side note, if you want to acquire CP3 why can't we try to acquire D12...it will be difficult to for CP3 to leave his current team than D12! (We can acquire him with our large TPE and other assets)

C-D12 (he might have to change his jersey #)

PF-Vucevic (playing PF this summer in World Championship will help)

    SF-Harris (better version of Melo)

SG-Harkless (better version of Stacey Augmon)

PG-T.Burke (the real deal w/ chip on his shoulder)

  2. Oh my god let it die already

He's done with the Magic, and the Magic are done with him.

LA will not be so kind to him if he doesn't win, and win big. I live here, I know this, they ran Shaq out of town, they'll do the same to Dwight

I would really enjoy being on ESPN's first take to debate with whomever believes not to add a dominate post player to any team if there really serious of winning, regardless how might debate Dwight's image history is the past few seasons...that's all history and in the past now anyways (ultimately I could careless because we all make mistakes anyway so Dwight's no different).

BTW, I do agree with you when you said LA ran Shaq out of town, you know why? They're all about business and winning titles that's it...Lakers saw Shaq was not the same player he used to be, so they shipped his arsenal to Miami. Plus he was becoming too much of a distraction to Kobe ( who was the better player between the two at that time). Well done LA!

  3. That what was the main reason he was hestitant about LA, the legend there with the big men. But I believe Magic Johnson had a sit down with him and said something to the effect of "Dont worry about the other legends, or about being compared to Shaq; they compare Kobe to Jordan everyday and look at him" I think once he realized that it was easy to open up to the thought of being there.

Sure he'll consider his options next summer but to this day (well as of yesterday) he STILL talks about the Magic organization and how they did him. I would have thought he'd moved on from the Magic but he brings them up in almost every conversation we have; whether its saying how wrong they were or comparing something in LA franchise with Orlando's.

Wow! Dwight really is passionate about this franchise, he needs to resolve this situation sometime in the future, ultimately he will feel much better making peace with people he had problems with (maybe Hennigan can play Gandhi between Howard and Martins lol). But for now I really want him to enjoy LA and learn from the Great Kobe and Nash...then to travel dance his a** to Orlando #Duhonstyle! ^^

  4. So you are telling us that there is no way Howard resigns with the Magic after a year in LA? Well doesn't that just bite the big one! Howard really is a scumbag after all!

I would really think he would consider all options including us in free agency 2013! I keep saying to myself LA has and will always be a championship contending franchise no matter if Howard stays or leaves, so this is for YBR and do you agree with my statement I'm about to make?

While Howard would help bring more titles to the Lakers his legacy would as significant because they were more legendary big men there before him (Mikan,Kareem,Wilt, and Shaq)! In other words he will be more of a statistic there, as he would be with the Mavs since Dirk is the first to help win the chip in 06.

As much as I want Dwight to sign here next off season, I only want him here next season if we add some real ballers to the team. If not Howard should do himself a favor look else where!

  5. Hopefully we have some semblance of a team by then.

While I think Dwight can suck it, I don't think he was exactly wrong to be frustrated with management: they never really put a good team around him. If I were LeBron, I'd be real leery of going back to a team that has a history of getting superstars and then putting them on a talent island.

You think he is going to leave a good thing in Miami? If he leaves and that's a big IF, he might return to Cleveland to bring them hope once again! LeBron's a class act #realtallk

  7. I came up with trade ideas for the Magic to clear as much cap space as possible, to sign probably 2 max free agents next season (along with high lottery pick):

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bucgze4 (Redick/Q. Richardson for Maggete)

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=9lkmyfh (Al Harrington for Luke Walton)

(Affalo for Nick Young expiring contract)

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=9xd4o6h (Glen Davis/Justin Harper for Diop/BJ Mullens)

    * Other trade ideas are welcomed!

  8. Wow... I hope he sells his house soon! He has forever burned his bridge in Orlando and I hope, really hope this long plane ride hurts his back more... What a suck up to Addidas.... His loyalty shirt was spot on... He's loyal to Addidas!

Loyalty? There's no loyalty in business my friend! Even I had to agree with Shaq, when he said it himself...considering what he did to Orlando but still owns a home here!

I think people confuse business side with the personal side and get them mixed up!

I give you guys another scenario, what if you were a superstar player for a franchise and you put in blood sweat and tears for 7 or 8 years with no results of the ultimate goal...what would you guys do?

From a business perspective he wanted to win now! But from a personal side he still loves Orlando!

Who's to say our next potential superstar will not do the same thing? Things will get better Believe me I been a Magic fan sine 93 so I know the pain!

  9. I don't think you understand how some of us feel. I agree with you that, while booing is ok with me, the extreme throwing stuff to the court is too much. I also agree that free agents have the right to go where ever they want....BUT the way both Lebron and Dwight chose to leave their teams....thats BS. You don't need a one hour ESPN special to go somewhere. You don't need to be a baby and cry and yell that you won't go to any team unless its this and that.

The way they did it is where I have a problem. If you quietly choose to sign somewhere else. Fine. Don't spend years saying this is where you want to be, when you know you don't. Don't play with your fans. Just be honest. Go somewhere else, who cares, but don't make it a spectacle. That's why I hate those types of players. Which sadly most stars of this game are turning into big Divas.

I guess since I started watching the NBA in the early to mid 90's and seeing how guys where loyal to their teams pretty much their whole career, win or lose, that's the game I grew up to like and enjoy. This newer(maybe the last 10 years or so) trend of just playing for fame and a ring...I just see it as lack of principles, loyalty, morals....and those players moving around following the title I see as little prostitutes or junkies that would do anything to get what they want..

Good point! Charles Barkley and Penny were my idols growing up... them guys played hard every night and didn't complain...I sure miss them days!

  11. I actually like the idea of everyone throwing their old Howard jerseys/shirts/memorabilia onto the court immediately after tip-off. Refs have to stop the game for a minute to pick everything up, which gives us fans a minute or 2 to really let out our frustrations by booing the hell out of Dwight, (at a time when all he can do is stand there and take it with his fake ass smile). We should pass out his old jerseys at the door to everyone who didn't bring their own. Cover the parquet floor I say.....

This is exactly why future big name talents will be hesitant to sign with the Magic!

    1. Majority fans treat stars like they meant nothing to the franchise ala Dwight, Shaq and TMac. You mentioned "fake smile" well most fans had that "fake we love you Dwight" look on their face when they started the "Stay Dwight" campaign. To top if off most of them fans could give a rats tails about Dwight now! (It works both ways my friend)

    2. The most important one management! We have a history of letting our stars sour on this franchise due to poor management. Hopefully our new personnel will change that.

That's why Cavilers fans will have a hard time getting big time talent their by player's choice...because they treated a guy who had ever right to go where he wanted to go (that why it's called free agency) even though he did it in a messed up way, turn around burn his jersey!

I wonder what they'll do when Irving leaves them? :chairshot:

  12. Dwight doesn't care at all about creating his own legacy, that was just his PR ploy to get to Brooklyn and still look like a good guy... If he wanted to create his own legacy he would've never embraced a trade to the Lakers as much as he has.. If he wanted to create his own legacy, we would've had more than a snowballs chance in hell of keeping him in Orlando.. He's not coming back, and frankly, I'd rather suck than bring him back here just to have him bend us over the table again...

Can you sit hear and honestly say you rather wait x amount of years for another chance at a championship with a new star in town? When all we can/should do is recruit one of the best centers and possibly the best PG in the NBA (CP3) to add with our potential high lottery draft pick, and try to go all out and win one next season!

I find it hard to believe as much as Hennigan tried his best to keep a disgruntled Dwight, he would give up again and not even try to pursue not only him but the best FA's in 2013 without a vision in mind. I confident our GM will put his personal feelings (if he has not already have) aside and try at this again to win a championship sooner rather than later!

Personal feelings aside who here on this board will want to win a title next year rather than rebuild for future success?

  14. This may be a long shot but what if Magic fans actually cheer him on more than boo him despite what he has done to us? That will surely get him thinking and he might think "majority of Magic fans still embrace me even after what I put them through!"

I know a lot of folks here think I'm delusional when I say this but, we have to kill Dwight with kindness when he returns to Orlando...the man gave us hope despite our management errors!

I was listening to his Lakers press conference and he wants to "create his own legacy", so even after he wins a championship with the Lakers I expect him to sign long term with a team that has never won a title before. (he will be a better leader learning from Kobe n Nash).

If Hennigan comes up with a great sales pitch to get the most dominate player to sign with us...oh man! :band:

We could have a high lottery pick, a chance to get CP3 or Ellis! :gortat:

  15. Like I've been saying, our pick this next draft won't be top 4. I see us playing vets a lot to drive up trade value before deadline. After Feb is when I see our rooks getting tons of PT. THEN next season, with a few of the vets gone, our rookies will be getting more PT.

2013 - win 32 games and end up with #6-11 pick.

2014 - win <15 games and end up with #1 pick. Also have a sneaky feeling we'll have another lotto pick here too.

    Great minds think alike!

  16. Not a bad idea but Charlotte would never make that move; Gordon fills a need and they're not paying luxury tax in 2013-14.

What more could Charlotte want? They could use the TPE to acquire another star, they want to rid themselves of Tyrus contract asap...any who lets say we do get their unprotected 2013 lottery pick, we can also flip Ben Gordon expiring to a lottery bound team days before the draft to take back an unwanted contract in exchange for their 2014 lotto pick! (of course we would have to throw in more pieces if needed).

  17. I would only trade Howard if you feel you can't win right now!

Dark Horse teams looking to possibly win a championship this year could try to rent Howard for 1st ever title: Clippers,Jazz

I would love to have Derrick Favors and pick for Howard... at the expense Utah possibly winning a title then Howard leaves if he wants! :bigparty:
