  1. F YOU

    Now there's a witty response...

No need to panic after back to back losses. The Thunder couldn't miss last night. On top of that Oklahoma City is one of the toughest crowds to play against in the NBA, and they still needed a desperation heave by Jeff Green to beat us. It didn't help that Russell Westbrook ran circles around our guards either, but give me the Magic in any series come playoff time. What we're seeing out of Dwight is truly special right now

  2. Dwight played all 82 games his first 4 seasons. His 5th season he missed 3 games, last year he played every game again and so far this year he's missed 2 games. Also in Dwight's playoff career out of a possible 52 games, he's appeared in 51 of them. So out of 583 possible games, Dwight's played in 577. The 3 he missed in 08 - 09 I don't remember why exactly. I remember him missing back to back midseason and I think he sat out the last game of the year to rest for the playoffs. This year he missed 2 games due to the stomach virus. The playoff game he missed was due to suspension for elbowing Dalembert. So all in all, we have a very durable big man. *knock on wood*

  3. I love J-Rich as much as the next Magic fan, but is it really necessary to have an "official so and so appreciation thread" after every decent game a "so and so" may play? J-Rich made the game a little less painful last night, true, and he played great and I'm excited to have a new cold blooded assassin on the team, but I could just as happily post that in the, uh, ya know, game thread..

Not like it matters anyway, he's on his way to Charlotte for Boris Diaw, right? :)

  4. I don't buy it, sorry. I've watched the games, I'm not going to go all hypothetical because "calling all fouls" would probably lead to Dwight also fouling out in 10 minutes. I don't know about all this non one on one stuff, Perk plays Dwight pretty well one on one and his ability to frustrate Dwight is his one of his best assets, and that counts as defense imo. Perk is the best Dwight defender I have seen and he uses his head rather well in countering him.

Rasheed Wallace back when the Pistons owned us was the best at defending Dwight.. Perkins is the best active at it in the league by far, assuming he comes back from his ACL smoothly.. What we really need from Dwight, because he does get foul calls eventually against Boston (though it takes a bunch of punishment), is for him to not let the Celtics and refs in his head and step up and knock down free throws. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like Dwight's free throw percentage against Boston is abysmal, even for him

  5. Against the Spurs and Mav's in December, there wasn't much positive talk coming from opposing players regarding our new look team. The comments were usually along the lines of "Meh, they are the same team".... Which looking at our 9 game win doesnt seem like a correct statement, specially losing 8 out of 9 games before the streak.

I remember Al Horford saying that we're the same exact team with different players when the Hawks beat us the first game we played with the new guys.. god, I hate Al Horford...

  6. In 08 - 09 when we made the Finals Gortat appeared in 24 games, averaging 3.3 points and 3.2 boards in 11 minutes.

    In 09 - 10 he averaged 3.0 points and 4.4 boards in 15 minutes.

Moral of the story? We'd be foolish to blow up the good thing that we have going by going an acquiring some guy who will give us maybe 10 minutes every playoff game to back up the best big man in the league. Sign a free agent or trade Duhon and Q for whatever steal you can. Nobody in the 8 man rotation should be dealt unless someone gets hurt and I think Otis knows this.

  7. Classic case of "it doesn't mean what you think it means". His power rankings are a snapshot of how teams are performing currently, and have a decent degree of accuracy in predicting the finals at the end of the season, not at the beginning of January.

I'm aware of that, and I'm pretty sure by seasons end Boston and Miami will probably both have higher rankings than us going in to the postseason, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna watch. My comment was more about people reading something that Hollinger says and automatically thinking that it's truth. Don't get me wrong, the guy is definitely right more than he is wrong and he's one of the few ESPN analysts I care abouts opinion, but that doesn't mean just because he says something it's true.

  8. Rasheed would be nice at 10-15 min a game. Where is he these days?

I agree that Sheed would be nice to have, if he was okay with getting limited minutes. His low post D and his ability to stretch the floor would definitely be beneficial, that is if he still has any game left. He didn't play well for Boston last year until the Eastern Conference Finals against us, and even then he had one or two abismal games. I'm all for giving it a try if he's in, which he probably isn't or we'd have him by now. If we make a deal, I'd like to see Jeff Foster here. Whoever brought up Bonner must be on something delicious, San Antonio isn't making any deal for anybody and definitely not trading the guy who is far and away shooting the best 3 point ball in the league, especially for the package we'd be willing to offer for him.
