I'm not down on it because of the money. the money is fine.
I'm a little down on it because we're giving a prime spot in the rotation to a tough defensive guy who has unreliable offense to pair with a bunch of other players on the bench that do the same thing. Would rather have meeks. We're building Milwaukee without a Giannis and that is troubling.
I see your point, but I like the Simmons signing quite a bit. It does seem redundant but the new front office likes to trade. I'd rather have Simmons at 6 per than Fournier at 17 per, that's for sure.
-
For those complaining about the Simmons signing, remember, he's making less than DJ Augustin
-
Looks like 3 year 20 million, all guaranteed
-
Well, the last spot we needed to fill was backup 4, at least I thought because I consider Isaac a 3, but Simmons tells me Isaac is backup 4. We're also in an era where position doesn't matter. A defensive lineup of Mack/Ross, Simmons, Isaac, Gordon, Biyombo is nasty and switch city!

What's KCP's wingspan? If it's bigger than Fournier's, make it happen Hamm.
He's 6'5 with a 6'8 wingspan
Fournier is 6'7 with a 6'8 wingspan
-
KCP renounced by Detroit and hits unrestricted free agency

before anyone freaks out, I'm kidding.
but we have to trade vucevic for crowder if we can. he'd be a valuable future trade piece and this might be our only chance to unload vucevic.
I've thought Vucevic was gonna get dealt to Boston for like 2 years now. I still have hope. Remember early in the season when Crowder randomly followed the Magic on instagram after some Celtic drama and everyone freaked out?
-
they also would be stuck with starting shooting guard Terry Rozier and no backup.
You don't think they'll play Hayward at the 2?
Thomas/Rozier
Hayward/Smart
Brown/Tatum
Horford/Morris
Vucevic/Zizic

Ugh.... I hate this offseason
-
IMO it's as bad. The knicks are incompetent but what are we? Look at our last 5 years.
Look at the Knicks' last 20 years. I'm just as frustrated a Magic fan as any of us these days, but us finally struggling through a rebuild after an extremely successful first 20 years as a small market NBA franchise was bound to happen at some point. It seems like the end of the world and we'll never get back because the organization spoiled us as a fan base for a long time.
-
That hardaway contract is no worse then Biz's contract. We are just as bad.
No, it's not... and the Knicks continue to be incompetent, despite playing in one of the biggest markets in the NBA.
-
We may be a lot of things, but at least we're not the Knicks
-
Guys.. I really want Avery Bradley..
-
1. Finally some continuity with the coaching staff. I believe that counts most this season
2. I think AG makes the leap and becomes that guy for us.
3. Style in which we played after the all star break is the way to go..hoping it continues.
4. Our starting 5 after the all star break had some pretty good numbers if i am not mistaken. We just need another 1-2 decent bench players who actually perform.
I agree with all of this, however we haven't done anything to fix our bench yet. I'm growing impatient on that. Hopefully we do something in free agency soon.
-
I dont think that is the case tho. I think Vuc has value. The problem is that during the free agency time trades are bot a priority. Wait until the summer leagues ends and all signings are done. That is where each team will look at their roster and see if they can improve it via trade. Vuc will be traded and we will be getting some value back. We just need to be patient.
I disagree. Vucevic is just like Jahlil Okafor being stuck in Philadelphia or Greg Monroe being stuck in Milwaukee or Enes Kanter being stuck in Oklahoma City. There isn't a market for one-dimensional centers that can't play a lick of defense and can't shoot 3's.
-
Can Avery Bradley play point?
-
I wonder what Vuch's real trade value is. Like is he even wanted? Think we're getting calls on him? Do we over-value him? I keep thinking he could be helpful on multiple teams chasing a title but I could be completely wrong. Maybe he's not even on anyone's radar.
The feeling I've been getting with Vucevic is that we value him more than what other teams are willing to give us for him. I know the vast majority of fans have been done with him for awhile, but management doesn't seem to be thinking that way.

Watson is probably going to be waived.
georges hunt probably is going to be waived in training camp and given one of our two way contracts. also, he's a sg/sf.
almost a third of the roster is missing from your list. we'll sign iwundu. we'll sign another 4 players. big gaps will be filled.
You think anybody takes on Watson in a trade? That's the only reason I can think we haven't waived him yet.
-
I'm all for anyone that will take DJ Augustin's minutes. If we go in to next season with him as backup point I'll be really disappointed. Who knows, maybe the plan is to play Mario at the 1.
Payton/Hezonja
Fournier/Ross
Isaac/Iwundu
Gordon/FA
Vucevic/Biyombo

Hayward gets the max. 4 year 128 million from the Celtics
-
I don't know if I'm ready for a world where Otto Porter makes 26 million dollars a season
-
Holy S---!
Otto Porter has agreed to a 4 year 106 million dollar offer sheet with the Brooklyn Nets
-
I just feel like you're trading for one year of smart. Because someone is going to convince themselves he can be their starter.
I could see that, and it's probably why Boston is trying to get something for him now because they know they're not keeping him.. I dunno, I've thought for a long time the Celtics would be one of the few teams that would be interested in Vucevic but they need to save money not spend it with the free agents they have coming up next year.
-
I'm debating on if I'd trade a future first for smart. I wouldn't want to pay him later. And he's definitely not a starter. But he fills a need.
Smart would be an interesting fit here, but it'd be risky to go in to next offseason with Gordon, Payton and Smart all due extensions.
Looks like Tyler Zeller is one of their highest paid players... for now. Bradley and Thomas are gonna get PAID next year

I think unless we trade Fournier or Ross, Simmons pushes Mario out of the rotation. We'll probably play a 9 man rotation, so that leaves one player out of the main rotation between Payton, Fournier, Ross, Gordon, Vucevic, Mack, Simmons, Isaac, Hezonja, Biyombo
