  1. What?

Since last year, he's become a much more efficient scorer, turns the ball over at a substantially lower rate, improved his shooting percentage from almost everywhere on the court, improved his PER by 2.4, all while playing above average defense.

I'm legitimately not sure what some people on this board expect our players to turn into. Oladipo is currently a player who'll put up 17.5/4/4 with good defense on efficiency that is slightly above league average.

Even if he never turns into anything beyond that, that's still a super valuable player.

I never said he hadn't improved over last season. I believe that Russell has a better upside and seems like a player that knows his limits. Which Oladipo has shown and continues to show he has not found his. I have seen him shoot the lamest shots at the rim this year. These shots have absolutely ZERO chance of going in. It seems that he has put up these kinds of shots at a higher percentage this year, than last. That is the kind of play that concerns me about him.

  2. Oladipo is way too overconfident currently. He wants to be the team leader, go to guy..etc. He is trying to do everything on the court right now and is not yet playing controlled basketball. Once that happens, I think we will see his defense improve along with his fitness.

^ If Ever that Happens, I believe you should say. Hard to change ones stripes.

  3. He missed the entire training camp and underestimated the level of conditioning he needed for his role.

Oladipo is trying to be our best offensive player and our best defensive player at the same time and it's really hurting his offensive efficiency and defensive ability by trying to do both.

Last year, James harden was fantastic on offense and pretty close to league worst on defense because he wasn't conditioned and decided to go all out on offense at the expense of his defense. This year he's in better shape and is mvp caliber on offense and at least average on defense.

Give Oladipo an off-season to adjust and better teammates and I think he'll do better

I can see earlier in the year that the fact that he had missed training camp would effect his conditioning, but by know that issue should have been resolved.

  4. If we get Russel Id be surprised if we traded Victor for at least a year, if ever.

Can you tell me why does Victor seem out of breath after a few minutes of playing. Is he that out of shape or what? Does he have a breathing issue? I don't understand it. At this time of year he should not be out of condition.

  5. Also because the success of a PG like Payton, and any for that matter, rides on the supporting cast. If your saying Payton is going to lead the league in assists, we had better get some shooters on this team. I mean, imagine if we had to guys that could realistically spread the floor and let penetrate and pass more. How many times a game do we see Payton penetrate perfectly and find an open guy on the perimeter only to have the shot clank off the rim?

To summarize, I don't think it's impossible for Payton to lead the league in assists but, with the current roster I don't see that happening.

no doubt he needs shooters which we don't have at this moment in time, but I believe or at least am hopeful that we will in the near future, "fingers crossed"

  6. Justice Winslow has really improved his stock at the tourney. He has been stuffing stats across the board and has the energy and athleticism that Hennigan has been favoring with his picks.

Good news is this draft seems deep with forwards which is where we need help.

This^ I will take an athlete that can score and defend against elite college players over some skinny guy, not that athletic, playing against mediocre talent.

  7. Eventually these guys have to feel like winning matters. That's now or else why fire Vaughn

You have to feel like a winner before you can actually win. This means in game coaching and TEACHING. This is a mans game and our team has a lot of boys who are cutting their respective teeth. Winning is not taught by benching a player and not even looking at that player for the last 20 minutes of a game you had a chance to win.

Maybe its on Payton but one of the coaches should have made him sit right next to them and go over what kind of play they need from him, he's young and not a type A personality. He is learning how to play the toughest position to play. And his improvement has been very good. It seems lately that they have taken out a lot of the pick and roll plays with him and Vuch, and he is mainly on the wing trying to create or just passing the ball as soon as he crosses the half court line. The coaching staff has not impressed me the way they have been handling him. I was hoping Borrego might be better than Vaughn in the respect of developing and teaching but it doesn't look like it.

  8. Because Willie is playing well. It makes sense to play players who are playing well

I disagree, because his playing is taking time from players who are or could be the future of the franchise. Willie is not. I don't see ANY advantage at this moment in the season to play ANY veterans other than giving the young players a two minute rest on the bench._

  9. I think it's too big of an assumption that Borrego is making decisions to save his job. I think he's just coaching. Payton is having issues right now and he needs to sit until he can work his way through it, just like when this happened earlier in the year.

As far as Willie goes, he was a net +1 for us last night. Harkless was a net +41(!!!). Vooch was a -31. Harris was -39 (wow)

Why should willie play, is he the future? Is him playing going to magically make us a playoff team? Is Payton going to watch this longtime scrub and learn how to play better? Please explain why he should be playing more than Payton or even getting off the bench. And Please tell the Rookie wall bs to someone else.

  10. You're kind of making huge leaps in logic here.

Payton absolutely sucked last night. He didn't look right and almost airballed every single shot he took. Maybe he's hurt our sick or just hungover but I think I trust the coach to make that decision.

Payton has made 3 of his last 20 shot attempts. He's been playing really badly and is hurting us in the last few games.

Right now you can choose winning basketball games or letting Payton shoot himself out of a slump but not both

Right now I choose to make Payton shoot at least 10 shots a game if not more, this will help him become more of a scorer and gain confidence, which I agree we need out of him. I don't give a dam if we win or not the rest of the season. And by the way we lost last night by 15, to a bad team without their best player, so where did willie help in that respect? I believe in Payton and think he is a special player but without the right guidance by a good coach it could very easily go away. I believe that Borrego is trying to keep his job long term and playing the veterans is his choice. I believe that developing our young talent in a productive way is the ONLY way he is going to keep his job.

  11. This game was painful to watch. Frye might be the worst starting defensive PF in the entire league. Zeller broke his ankles many times last night. Easy looked down in his posture and was yanked very early. And we've got Green as our vet presence shooting 4-13 with an outstanding PER of 8.70. Awesome. Our whole team is offensively challenged and struggles to hit open jumpers. Hey but at least we're playing some defense now.

Elf is getting sick of being the first person yanked to only be replaced by Willie fing Green. A longtime scrub. I would be disappointed and down if this was happening to me. Last night he got yanked 4 minutes into the 2nd half and never returned. This is not coaching. If you don't like the way somebody is playing then you pull them and talk to them and get in their face and tell them and then put them back in. Not just pull them and let them sit and stew for the last 20 minutes of a game. Borrego you are immature as a coach and if you thing that Willie is going to save your job, hahahahahahahaha

  12. You could say...the Heat won at "home"....that's how disgraceful the Magic fan showing was. Hell. Some Magic fans probably became Heat fans.

Most of all, the disappointment of this loss will surely send us into another losing streak. I wasn't going to watch this game until someone said something. I knew this bull****. Every game against Miami and Cleveland is always bull****.

So Bull**** won today. Luckily the Heat won't win any championships anytime soon.

If the game gets to the point where David Steele, one of classiest play by play guys ever in the NBA says....the Mario chalmers foul was gifted along with the chiming in of Jeff Turner's sarcastic laugh, you know that was bull****.

In conclusion, this game is a blank space on paper. Adam Silver was at the game..so its whatever.

Adam Silver was at the game. That is all that needs to be said. The NBA got what it wanted. Also shut the f up heat fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I don't think so. He just doesn't have the footspeed or footwork to execute those schemes. The more switches happen, the later and later he rotates to the ball.

Honestly think Gordon will be a much better player than Harris. Just my opinion, but you can already see how Gordon plays elite defense and has guarded every position on the court this season.

While I agree with your assessment on Harris footwork. I have yet to see the offensive potential that Gordon has. Granted he is very young, but he does not look confident or natural as a shooter, and that is what you need out of a small forward. I hope he develops ALOT on his offense, because right now he is a MAJOR project.

I believe Harris and Vucevic can play together but they need a defensive minded PF next to them at all times. Ring a bell anyone, DD?

  14. It's not a simple as that. You have to find the right interim. We still have a young team and even a few months with an unqualified interim coach could set back some players' developments possibly.

I'm not in a rush to fire him anyways, as long as it's done before next season.

Seriously, we have an unqualified coach that is setting back our players developments RIGHT NOW!!!

Please explain why on earth would you want to keep JV the rest of the season.

  15. I have never seen a coach admit after a game that he wishes that the other team would have played more bigs so he could play his best defensive big in the game. Never Never Never. This is insane. You as a coach should be dictating what the other team is doing and which players they are playing, because they should have adjust to your moves, not the other way around. This guy HAS to go, Rob find a way. You may like JV but he cant cut it.
