Now that the Draft is over where "CAN" the Magic go?
masazasm replied to SmackDaddy's topic in Orlando Magic Forum

They certainlly are not as abundant as we thought they'd be 3-4 months ago. all those guys you mentioned with the exception of rallen are still options. plus some- kg kobe stackhouse blake joniel although most of the options would require a s&t they are still options. -
SA: What's your criteria for the pool of free agents you are interested in? OS: He's gonna have to make an impact today! That's what you are in the free agent market for. You are not in the free agent market for a guy who's gonna develop in 2-3 years. He's gonna have to have an impact today. Also you have to look at other factors. How's he gonna help our young team grow? Having Dwight, Jameer, JJ and Darko, that becomes important. What kind of character guy is he? And you have to take into consideration how the coach likes to play. We look at a lot of things but mainly what will his impact be on our young basketball team. jameer,jj,(fa),darko, dwight?

But theres still Mo Pete, Pargo an some other decent players. I dont know why we'd get Smush. On any other team he would be a thirdstring PG. pargo and mo are duplicates of meer. parker gives you size at the point (6'4") and cost less than pargo or mo. i would use parker as a back-up pg

1 year later(Edit=Now 2)(Edit=Now3), would you still take J.J. with the No. 11 pick?

There are very few players in the NBA that can be effective without getting near the ball, JJ is one of them already. (Of course I like it better when he knocks back 3 or 4 threes.) Guys like Thabo and Brewer cant bring that element. For me, he is an untouchable peice of our coure. what he said -
i was sitting in my parents back yard on memorial day. i made a bet with them and my wife that the magic would make it to the eastern conference finals. week later donovan was named coach. my wife came up to me and said "still think the magic will make it". i paused, thought about it, and said no. donovan needs a couple of years. then billy flops out and we get svg. i went up to my wife and said its on. no wasted time now svg is ready.

if arenas is saying that he will opt out after next year, that forces the wizards to make a move during next years fa deadline if not they get nothing. or they can trust him when he says he doesnt want to leave, but just to test his value.thats a tough choice. arenas makes things interesting. i think he solves all of our problems. a pg who is a finisher. 3rd in the league in scoring and avg 6apg. wow.
