  2. There are no free rides but it certainly falls on the Magic to do what's expected of them. I didn't fear Boston as a team that could beat us, I feared Boston because they are such a group of selfish, washed-up crybabies that they will play ugly and dirty before they are eliminated. There is no next year for them and I predict an ugly fight on at least one game before they are sent home.

He's got talent that is out of this world, but I'll reserve "best ever" talk until he's proved it at that level.

Tell your gut to shut up because you're first thought was dead on if we beat Philly. Several 18-4 that will be dead on if we lose. Good call.

    Tim Legler LOL

It was hard to understand his nonsense but I think he said it had to do with Lebron having to guard stronger players than Dwight because there aren't that many good centers. I think Tim thinks the award is for the player who guards the best. When Tim played, he never played defense.

I agree with him. He's not a sixth man. A team relying on him as a sixth man couldn't win the championship. He's more like an eight man.

So.. when and should we rest?

Reason 725 why coaches hate this situation. Play them, they get hurt, you're the biggest loser. Rest them, you lose in the first round, you're the biggest loser.

    Dwight's Image

I wish Dwight would not get so bothered by the calls simply because it doesn't help to complain. If it got him less calls, then it would be worth it but that does not seem to be the case. As far as faults go, I'm not too concerned about it. It bothers me more that he seems to get angry at players that rebound the ball away from him. Pietrus, specifically got an angry talk-down the other day. Dwight, you want to LEAD a team to the only goal you say really matters? Then stop arguing over stats with your teammates during the game. You should be thankful of any teammate that hustles for a rebound.

    NBA's New Bad Boy

Matt is exactly what this team has needed for a long time. And it's not just the toughness, he's the one crashing the boards besides Howard. He's the one running down the court and hustling for every loose ball. He's a bargain and the x factor for us. God Bless Matt Barnes, Patron Saint of Tough guys everywhere.

    Health Care Passed

quote: Originally posted by Osprey23: quote: Originally posted by barnettej:Its funny... We all pay for Auto and House insurance right... that is pretty much forced apon us right... So how come no one is complaining about that. I mean isnt that the basis of the true argument... being forced to buy something. So lets hear it... Pretty basic argument. You don't HAVE to buy car insurance if you don't want it. If you choose not to, you can't drive. Driving is a privilege, not a right. I should be able to choose not to buy health care for the same reason I choose not to buy auto or home insurance. What gives the government the right to take $100 every month out of my paycheck to pay for health insurance that I don't want or need? Its the same problem I have with Social Security Taxes. I'm 24, in great health, and would prefer to spend that money elsewhere. Where in the Constitution does it say I have to own healthcare? Here's the problem, even if you chose to not have medical insurance, the truth is that you have it. It's called Emergency Care and since 1986 virtually every Hospital in the Nation has to avide by it. So EVERYONE has to be treated if they get sick, but those without insurance never pay. The cost, by the way, is not picked up by the government. It's those paying for health care that indirectly end up paying for it. So while you're 24 and healthy, you use that money for whatever your freedom brings, but the day your health takes a big dump, someone else pays for it. Let's not talk about forcing people to buy something they chose not to have. It's forcing people to pay for what they will invariably use at one time anyway.

    Calm Down, Dwight [HW Article]

Dwight WANTS another technical. I know this because he keeps asking for one. I think he likes Rasheed's reputation a little too much.

    Make Your Own Conclusions

Why don't you post the picture of the three guys that do a good job. That's about it. With all the video analisys of each game, I'm surprised someone has not compiled true ref stats. I little rewind action can allow you to quantify bad calls. Divided by games refed, then you have some kind of measurement by which you can rank them. Yeah, I know it's got holes in it (do you charge all refs working a game for a missed call or just the one that's closest?), but the league needs it. The NBA should grow some pelotas and publish ref stats. They have the worst officiating of any major sport and are the proud owners of a ref convicted for gambling related activities. I know, it's a hard job to make the call in real time, but statistical measuements of performance are a part of life. If they have them, publish them, if they don't, get started on it. And I'm not crying about the Magic either. I think NBA officiating is poor for all teams.
  17. I don't know that I would have phrased it the way Chase did, but I'm surprised there is even an argument about this. Calls or no calls, Dwight needs to address his infighting with the refs. Dwight is not immature, reflected by the incredible poise he shows everytime he gets fouled hard. He just needs to channel his inner Rasheed and learn to control his reactions to the refs. I'm sure he would still get 8 or 9 during the years just on the ridiculous calls, but to lead the league? He can do better.

    Jeff Van Gundy...

quote: Originally posted by Nessloch: quote: Originally posted by JRam027:JVG was veryfair in his criticisms and praise today. The only thing he said that was stupid was how he thought Cleveland was still a better team last season even after our 4-2 win. Combine that with saying we weren't better than CLE last year and I lost most of my (basketball) respect for JVG--the guy is occasionally hilarious and I like it when he calls our games, though. But those were some strange comments in the 1st qtr... Clearly Jeff Van Gundy does not understand that he most basic element of being the best team is winning the series. The best team has won every series ever. Jeff is a funny guy, well, he tries.

  23. quote: Originally posted by rtillaree:"Kobe stopper" to the tune of 34 points on a stomach flu...nice... I always hear this when one of our players guards Kobe, Lebron or Wade. Well, they still got over 30 points. These guys are going to get their points so you can't just measure sucess by their point total. IMO, you measure sucess on two things, 1. How many shots did it take for him to get the points. 2. Did we win. It took 30 Kobe shots to get 34 points. We won. Good job Matt. As an added plus, now Gasol is complaining that Kobe took too many shots. Good job Matt.
  24. quote: Originally posted by TallyMagic:AMAZING win. The intensity was unbelievable! Rarely do I post on this site but tonight it felt right. This is my take on the game This win tonight was huge IMO... We now have : -Beaten the Cavs and Lakers in the last 15 days. -Been riding a five game win streak. And visiting the Clippers tuesday. -Only a 2 game gap behind the Lakers and 5 game behind the Cavs for the best record. If we want to make Finals and see those guys again were gonna love some home court. Lets get real, we got 18 games left. Were not catching LeBron. But we can catch LA!! I BELIEVE we will Anyways.. This GAME WAS AWESOME! This is our year and people are starting to realize it. The defense was contagious. Kobe did Kobe and put up 36 and dished 7 assists, most likely to Pau Gasol who put up 20. Besides that we shut them down! Nobody else in double figures. Sorry!! Stockton/Malone era ended a couple years back. In the mean time our whole starting lineup put up double figures. And I gotta hand it to Matty Barnes! If we had him one year sooner, we would have one more championship to add to the one I see us taking this year! I loved his energy and tenacity! no homo This was the spark that we needed to give us that push to close out the year. This team is starting to GEL. Just fix these 4th quarter collapse and were the scariest team in the LEAUGE come playoff time. The energy and heart in this game was amazing to see. Gasol was so mad he tried to hammer fist Dwight on the dunk! I need to make sure I get that poster. The refs did an alright job keeping it cool, but in the mean time made some pretty looney calls if you ask me. Well I'm done. I was pretty excited to make a post, probably my 8th or so... Now I'm rather tired and and desire a glass of milk and to pass out watching a replay of the game. Night Magic fans good post. Post more often.
