great game by darko yesterday against denver - 14pts, 16reb, 5blk in 40mins. but the grizzlies lost again. anyway, i'm so glad we didn't hire iavaroni last summer, memphis is a joke with him. i don't why but i always have to laugh when i see how they defend. they have some pretty good players but come on, you have to play some defense too. darko has to guard his player and gasol's player. he's stats are awful but i think he's one of the best grizzlies this season, at least he defends. i think the grizzlies would be much better if they trade gasol and hire carlisle instead of iavaroni. and what's the deal with this guy jacobsen ? i mean, they released kinsey and bobby jones (who btw would be a great signing for orlando) and jacobsen is still on the roster? ***?

Posted on the 31st, Gasol traded on the 1st.

Jacobsen is the Grizzlies version of Pat Garrity. He's terrible but the coach likes him. Casey played for the Suns and Coach I. thought that he was great...

Darko's confidence has gone up since the Gasol trade. But the team has no defense. Darko is the only one on the team that can play defense. Unfortunately all he has on offense is a hook shot.

The Grizz are a joke right now and probably will be for the rest of the season and maybe even next season, but all the players are young (Rudy and Darko both 22) and will have lots of time to develop. They are trying to do what the Blazers did and what the Timberwolves are doing.

Then what we need to do is limit Miller's open shots and we should have a solid win.

Not what I was expecting from Darko. Terrible game for him. Both teams had key players injured so I don't want to hear, "well we didn't have Shard."

It's not every day that someone dunks on Duncan...

Durning the game the dunk was a lot more thunderous, you can't really hear the rim shake in this vid. If you listen really, really carefully you can hear it slightly. But it was loud and over Tim Duncan.

Durning the game the only time Duncan scored was when he wasn't gaurded by Darko, true story.

  4. Diener is with the Pacers, Grant is with the Suns. I haven't watched any Suns game, but the last game Memphis played was against the Pacers. I had to watch the game w/ Pacers commentators, during halftime they talked about Deiner the entire time. They said how he was greatfor the teams chemistry, they interviewed the team and it seems like they all love Diener. They joke around a lot and poke fun at him and Diener seems to enjoy being there as well. The Pacers use him as a Carlos Arroyo type of player. He gets about 10+ min a game, which is a lot better than nothing. Looking at his stats it's nothing impressive. During the Memphis game I saw him bury two nice jumpshots but he was 0-3 from outside the arc. He did nothing impressive, didn't really notice him on defense. I think he'll be better as the season progresses. I'm just happy that he's with a team thats using him and he seems really happy and he helps the team chemistry out a lot.

Darko played OK during the Pacers game. Nothing special. He was the only one on the Grizz playing defense. Offensively he had a couple of nice hook shots, but Rudy Gay never passed him the ball. There was a couple of times where Darko could have easily scored and Rudy tried out his best Kobe impersonation on him. There is poor chemistry between the players. The only players that work well together are Pau, Miller, Navarro and Stro. But Stro and NaThey have the potential to be a great team but they lack in the assists catagory.

  5. Did anyone here watch the game? (Probably not but maybe someone did) It was such a disappointment after the first quarter.

Darko scored 6 Points and had at least 4 rebounds in <10min of play. He missed his first shot (blocked by Duncan) then his second shot was an amazing hook, then a lay in followed by a beastly left handed hammer over Duncan icon_smile.gif True Story. Sadly ending his shooting in the first quarter with an airball icon_frown.gif

Then offensively he disappeared. He sank one more bucket and stoped playing offense.

Very disappointing. I thought he would break 20 for sure, and add 10 boards... not so much.

Defensively he did a great job. To make things worse Memphis lost.

But I can't complain too much. Mem did face the spurs and only lost by 3, but a L is a L.

And truthfully, I thought Stro would start because of Darko's 30% FG shooting in preseason. Very happy with what I saw, just wish the 2,3 and 4th quarters were more like the first, and a W wouldn't have hurt.

Brian Hill is green with envy. On the bright side you guys could save up the money that you spend on new clipboards to buy another big man next season.

    Best of luck.

And Garrity getting more PT is ridiculous. I have Ariza in a fantasy league and I really have to consider dropping him.

Except for the fact that 3/4 of all baseball fans feel that he used steroids. Doesn't matter if he was convicted or not, it's the fact that people viewed him underneath that light.

  8. After losing to Gonzaga a couple of months ago, Cro Cop just lost his secon fight against Kongo in UFC 75. I don't know how many of you actualy watch MMA or UFC or even know who cro cop is but he is one of the best European MMA fighters, if not THE BEST. He signed with UFC a short while ago and he's off to a terrible start. People thought that he would be the next champ. Instead he's on a losing streak. Kongo is just a guy that was supposed to boost his spirit and confidence. This was supposed to be one of those first round knockout fights. Instead he lost by a unanimous decision. Now theres all this talk about retirement and I just feel bad for Cro Cop. Two straight loses is a sign that you aren't good enough or you have to retire. If he doesn't retire then he 100% has to beat his next opponent or he will lose all his hype and glory and pride. Your opinions.

  10. It looks like Darko is doing really great. The first time Serbia played Turkey, Serbia won. I know theres at least a few people on these boards who wish Darko well. So this is an update on Darko for them.

This was an interview done after Serbia beat Turkey I found it on the Memphis boards:

Really I just have a question, why, when it seemed that they were bidding for Rashard with no competition to sign him, did they give him that ridiculous contract?? I didn't hear about any teams trying to sign him (A little interest from Houston), and if there were they certainly were not offering anywhere near what he got, so why give him that much??

This move is really going to make it hard for the Magic to add much of anything to this team for a few years.

I hope you guys love this team the way it is right now, because there won't be alot of new additions coming in the next five or so years.

That's the only question I have as well. Can't get a strait answer out of everyone.

While some believe that Magic fans are furious with the contract, we would have been angrier if we didn't acquire him.

Management has delt with angrier fans. I'm sure if the Magic didn't acquire Rashard that the Magic would of at least gotten GWall or even better waited for agent 0.

This is something I posted about extensively in the "SmackDaddy Confidential" threads of about two weeks ago. It just doesn't reflect well on our front office or their ability to plan for the future.

Otis could have made a better deal with Lewis and still have been able to keep Darko. Why did he pay so much for Lewis, no one else was offering him anything close to what the Magic offered him. Otis really didn't plan for the future when he closed the deal with Lewis. You really think Lewis is going to improve over the next six years?

You can't be serious? Can you? If Otis could pay Lewis less money he would have......

    ARE YOU SERIOUS??

I'm sorry to have to say this but in my 1,000+ posts I have never read anything quite as stupid as this. I seriously want to know where you get the idea that Lewish is worth 112 MILLION?

Do you know how Lebron James gets paid? ...5 Year $80 Mill.

Do you know how much DWade gets paid? ... as much as Lebron.

Do you know how much Kobe gets paid? Just about as much as Rashard.

Rashard is NOWHERE near their playing level. He can not take over games. I have never heard anyone say, "So what kind of play will they draw up for Rashard to win this game?"

No team in the NBA was going to pay him 2/3 of that money. If Otis was going to spend that kind of money on a player then he should of waited for Arenas. That guy can take over a game and hit the game winning three.

I Seriously hope for the both of us that you were being sarcastic.

Adding Rashard and letting go of Darko and Grant is far from a +3. Not only does it leave a big hole in the Big catagory but also put together Darko and Grand averaged the same # of points as Lewis but 2.5 more rebounds, .8 more assists, and I won't go into the blocks. Because their stats are about the same I'd say +0 but since it leaves a whole in the roster then that's a big negative.

The Magic can't land another big because they spent all their money on Lewis, another big negative.

Will a year experience improve young players. That's a retard question I won't even bother +0. It could go either way. Jameer and JJ could lose confidence because of Jameer's lack of ability (yes I said it) and JJ's lack of PT not to mention Ariza's injury. But it could also help them. Thats one of those things you have to wait and find out for, thus making it a retard question.

Team's main opponents. How will the Magic double Shaq with 1 man (Dwight). Charlotte is much more improved can't argue that (Adam Morrison). Not to mention the Cavs, improved Knicks, same new Jersey who beat us last year, again can't double Bosh with one man... I'd label that a retard question as well mainly because of the most important factor of all CHEMISTRY!

Which brings us to one of my catagory... yep chemistry. Will Lewis demand the ball too much? How will other players react to him.... Can't really tell.

Then, have the Magic patched up Mistakes from last year. Turnovers..? Point Gaurd..? or have they created more problems..? Perhaps a hole in the roster...?

There are many more catagories to consider. Any team could score high with a test like this where you yourself make up the catagories in favor of your teams improvements. It's very inaccurate and all it's there for is hope, which we do have a lot of around here.

Sour grapes Darko fan? You are right, chemistry is the msot important ingredient for success, and thats why it was considered into the equation, under the Lewis over Hill and Darko category.

You cant look at it statistically, you will because it works better in your favor, but Lewis' presence on the floor will make things all the better for everyone else on the offensive end. We still have a hole on D in the post, I agree, but that can be found much easier than a guy who can open up the offense like that.

SO you seriously feel that Nelson, J.J, Ariza and DWIGHT HOWARD wont have improved from last year? I wont call you retarted, because that's an *** move, but it is common sense.

Finally, if you felt negative about the big man position, or the Lewis signing, there were negative points too. So this is amde for people's opinions...I suggest you read the whole thing next time before you start calling stuff retarted. IT was for fun anyway, but I can see you're still distraught over Darko, and that is ok.

    Sour Grapes??? Are you serious.

First what do I care if Darko makes $1 or if he makes $100 Million. It doesn't effect me in any way. Darko has a coach that's a big man specialist. A coach that is better for Darko than SVG. He's on a young team with a good PG (unlike Jameer). He's got a guy who can acctually hit three's, a pretty decent bench, a team with cap space... only to name a few things that the Magic don't have.. He's in a much better place. Sure we don't have Dwight but Pau is good enough, and Sure they probably won't make the playoffs this year but they are a young team with lots of promise.

All I'm saying is that, that test is just about as accurate as Dick Cheney.

There's a lot more factors to consider that the writter failed to add. And if you improve in ONE catagory then how do you add 4 wins? That makes no sense and theres no logic behind it. Anyone can pull numbers out of the sky to make themselves look good.

And I'm not saying those players won't improve, I'm saying it can go either way. Learn how to read and interpret words. JJ's confidence could be gone because of the lack of faith Hill had in him. Or he could use it as motivation. Jameer could have realized that he can't play as well as he did a year ago, or he could realize that he's gatta wake up.

I don't know how to put it into simpler words. THE TEST ISN"T ACCURATE! Adding Rashard and losing two important players is not an improvment. The Magic will again be an 8th seed at best. If you truely think that the Magic can pull of 50 wins with no PF then you will recieve a rude awakening by the end of the season. Only elite teams make 50 wins and the Magic are far from elite.
