VC's expiring contract in Gortat for a Superstar in summer of 2010?

so the number could work out?????

VC's expiring contract in Gortat for a Superstar in summer of 2010?

I don't fully understand the sign and trade stuff but I am just wondering if this would be a possible scenario numbers wise in the future and I am not saying by any means of course that it will actually happen. But VC and Gortat's contracts would be around 20 - 25 mill so that would be around a max deal???? Am I even close on this stuff????

VC's expiring contract in Gortat for a Superstar in summer of 2010?

Could the signing of Gortat be a strategic move to bring in a superstar free agent to pair up with Dwight??? I think Otis may be thinking that Marcin is an asset that is only gaining in value so he might be a steal in a year or two for that price. Big centers are hard to come by and I think Marcin can be a starter on 90% of the teams in the leage. Him paired up with VC's expiring contract might be enough to do a sign and trade for a big time player??????

what will Turk be like in years 3 - 5????

I hate to see the catfish leave town however I would not trust signing him to a 5 year deal. I think Turk has a less than average work ethic and as he gets a little bit older I think this will take more of a toll on his game and his production. Lets not forget that Turk was missing quite a few games the year before last for tick tack injuries and some unknown illness that would reappear after a long night out on the town (hangover). No but seriously, I question Turks commitment to the game and although he is and has been a great player for Orlando I really think once he cashes in on the big pay day there is a chance he could begin to shut it down.

Artest agent says Magic 1 of 3 teams expected to pursue him(link)

quote: Originally posted by Rob:Put it like this, if Turk is getting 10mill per season, then Artest has to be in that range as well. Would you sign Artest for 10mill? Another, Nelson Carter Artest Lewis Howard would be your starting lineup, how does this work out. Thats 5 scorers on the court together. Vince gonna demand the ball, so will Howard, Artest and Lewis. Everybody stats will drop and complaining will start due to players not getting the ball when they want it. There is no way this can work. If Artest is a smart man he should sign with the Lakers. Now if we didnt have Lewis then yeah Artest sounds good, but come on we have too many scorers now. Too many. We need role players that can bring defense and hustle. No big name players. The ball can only be shot but so many times. The Magic dont run the Knicks type of offense. Artest gets his shots, just a disaster waiting to happen. I ll take Battier though. A role player that doesnt take alot of shots and just plays defense. Thats what we need, more players like that. Artest is a scorer. Lets just clear one thing up...You are saying Artest commands the ball however you want to resign Turk????? If anything, Artest needs the ball less than Hedo and brings much more to the team that Turk can't bring. So if you are saying that Artest doesn't fit hear than you sure as hell don't think Turk fits in our system. I don't get it. In my opinion, GET THE 5 BEST **** PLAYERS YOU CAN GET ON THE COURT AND LEAVE ALL THAT OTHER BS FOR THE COACHES AND PLAYERS TO FIGURE OUT.

Kinda like the year Rodman ended up in Chi-town. then we better go hard for him. with him in the mix i'd think we have a great chance to head back to the finals. we still need a pf though. I think Artest would be a great fit for a few reasons...first, with Artest at the 3 that would take some of the burden of Rashard doing all of the things that a power forward needs to do. Ron Ron can rebound, play Defense on pretty much any 2,3, or 4 in the league, and from what I saw in the playoffs he can knock down an open jumper. His attitude and phyical style would make us the team to beat. I mean seriously check out this line up... Jameer VC Ron Ron Rashard D12 wow...

    Ron-Ron

I am not familiar with the logic of having too many great players on the floor at once is counter productive. Your right, Pietrus would be a better fit since he is a much less quality player....That doesn't make sense to me. All of these players know how to play basketball. I promise you Ron Artest doesn't shoot any more bad shots than Jameer, Turk, VC or any other top tier player in the NBA. Artest is a PLAYMAKER. He likes to make plays albiet passing or scoring. If noone else can score IE Houston, he will try to fill it up. When he is on the floor with scorers he will get it done passing the ball. Let me know if you disagree, I think Artest is one of the smartest all around players in the entire league.

    Ron-Ron

I really like Artest. Everytime I watch him play I wish my team had a player like him (providing he doesn't go crazy)He is the A-typical Point/Forward. I think he is a much better passer than Turk. He can feed the post and most of all bring fire and lock down D. Bring him in Oats!!!! He is a knock down jump shooter also. And I do agree sometimes he trys to do too much but our system allows for a little bit of that which my be good for him. We have plenty of scorers and I do believe he is a very smart basketball player so I am sure he will know his roll and play it very well.

    Ron-Ron

I think Artest is a perfect fit. The beauty of this deal is that you can still play the same style of ball that got us into the finals by adding Artest and VC, however you gain a toughness that was deffinilty needed throughout the playoffs and the finals. Ron Ron is comming off of a 6 year 42mil year so I am assuming he would be available around the MLE. If you CAP gurus know differently please let me know.

Let Turk walk and bring back Ariza....

I'm guessing Turk is going to be out of the Magic price range but maybe the price for Ariza will fit in. He is not great on offense but he is getting better. However, I think we all know that the Magic are going to have to go through Lebron for the next 10 years and he is only getting better so a defensive minded small forward might not be a bad idea. This would also allow CLee to step up and become a scorer and I think he has that in him.

I'd rather have Prince from Detroit if we lose Hedo - we'd gain that defensive stopper with little loss in other categories. It's all about the money. These guys would go play in the WNBA if the price is right.

Activating Jameer "COST" the Magic this series

First of all...richnba is a clown. Read a post before you continue to try and make the same stupid point over and over again. That ship has sailed....Second, to Twelve, I don't think there is anything wrong with activating Jameer and giving him "SOME" minutes. Your not ****ed if you do ****ed if you don't. Your ****ed if you let the guy play 25 minutes. I was all for giving him a shot....If he is playing good give him minutes, WHY NOT? The problem is he wasn't playing good enough to take to job of the starting point guard that got us to the finals. In my opinion he wasn't even playing good enough to take minutes from AJ..So noone should be upset that he was given a shot to play, or even played 10 minutes a game because I do think he can be effective in that role right now..but the 4th and OT????? WHY WOULD ANYONE BE UPSET THAT JAMEER GOT MINUTES IF HE WAS PLAYING WELL????JJ got minutes and played great..Battie did fine and noone is *****ing about him over Gortat..There is nothing against Jameer...WE JUST WANT THE BEST 5 OUT THERE AT THE END OF THE GAME.

Activating Jameer "COST" the Magic this series

I don't know what richnba is reading. Noone is blaming Jameer, I am blaming STAN for not having his best 5 players on the floor at the end of the game. You think Jameer played better than Rafer???......crack kills no j/k but I honestly don't think it's even close.

DON'T MAKE THIS SOMETHING IT'S NOT DWIGHT SHOULD HAVE MADE FREETHROWS-YES HEDO SHOULD HAVE MADE FREETHROWS-YES BAD PLAY MY PEITRUS ON THE LAST PLAY-YES TOO MANY TURNOVERS-YES RAFER IS PLAYING BETTER THAN JAMEER AND SHOULD BE IN THE GAME AT THE END????????? I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC??? YOU THINK JAMEER PLAYED BETTER THAN RAFER????

boss, if by steadied the ship you mean made 3 plays in the fourth quarter (layup, pass to Dwight on a drive, and low post feed to Dwight) than I suppose he did steady the ship. Other than that he was a ghost on the floor and was getting pressured by the guards and delaying the offensive sets, Not to mention the blown coverage on D. What did you see?

Yea Fisher shot a nice 3 on him, but come on cant blame Meer. That is a cop out. We had one last shot to win this game, if Peaches gets his head out of his ***, and makes the correct play to Lewis or Hell Dwight was open, and doesnt decide to take an off balanced 2 pointer. We also had one timeout did Peaches not know that? But still we gave ourselves a chance to win it, and an elbow that screeened Meer out of the play gives Fisher a wide open 3 and gameover. But the Series isnt over, the battle was won by LA. But the war, the war is not over. The brighest dawn, is only after the darkest night Dead wrong my friend...by that logic Rafer gave us a chance to win...Hell, JJ gave us a chance to win and was more productive than Jameer. You can't look at the things that Jameer did well and say those plays made the difference, You got to look at the things that the better player would have done above and beyond what Jameer did and in my opinion, on that night, that player was Rafer. By no means am I blaming this loss on Jameer. Freethrows, turnovers, etc. But at the end of the day I want the five guys on the floor that are playing at the highest level. SIMPLE AS THAT. WHO ARE YOUR BEST FIVE PLAYERS AT THIS EXACT POINT IN TIME AND AS OBVIOUS AS IT SEEMS THAT IS WHO I WANT IN THE GAME. Its a no brainer, Rafer is playing better than Jameer right now. In October of 2009, give me Jameer. Right now its Rafer

Activating Jameer "COST" the Magic this series

one more thing...when I say Jameer is not productive that doesn't mean that he was a liability while he was on the floor. He was not productive..HE DIDN'T REALLY CONTRIBUTE ALTHOUGH HE DIDN'T REALLY MAKE ANY BIG MISTAKES (except the Defense on Fish...so I take that back he made 1 HUGE mistake) I just think at that point in the game you need people to make plays (Jameer made 3 good plays in the entire game) Rafer seemed up for the task the entire night and was one of the few guys that got up for the big game and looked like he belong on that stage. It's a ****ing shame
  25. Do Work Stan .... BOOYAAKASHAA

Activating Jameer "COST" the Magic this series

Stan said after the game that he didn't want to put Rafer back in the game because he had been sitting for too long?????? JAMEER HAD BEEN SITTING FOR 4 ******* MONTHS!!!!!!!!! It is one thing to give him a chance and see how he plays and I am fine with that...but when you are in the finals you don't just let players "find a rythm" or let them work the rust off at that point. This is more though than Jameer's lack of production...anything that has people second guessing (you know Rashard, Dwight, and Turk were going WHEN THE HELL IS RAFER GONNA GET BACK IN HERE) can break a team at this point of the season when everything is so critical. I don't mind that we are down 3 -1 in the series. It's a game and someone has to win obviously, BUT I CAN'T STAND THINKING "WHAT IF" That just puts a damper on this entire finals experience for me. Glad we made it, we have played great and all but...WHAT IF.... Rafer got his regular minutes? AJ/Jameer came in and gave some productive minutes? It is easy to say this looking back but JAMEER HAS NOT BEEN PRODUCTIVE. Not in game 1, not in game 2, not in game 3, so why would you think at the closing minutes of game 4?????? So there is NO REASON TO HAVE HIM IN AT THE END OF GAME 4 OF THE NBA FREAKING FINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What if? What if? In my opinion this is a terrible time to be thinking like this... Go with what has worked, If you don't win you at least went down with what got you here. aaahhhhh I feel much better now
