  1. Yeah, I feel left out too. What do you have to do to get recognized around here?

    What is Hedo's Value?

  3. Rafael17222

    Why?

This thread contains some really comical stuff! LOL I think the Magic tried to be as low key as possible not wanting a huge media swarm.

No your not alone nbr3345, you probably described the way most people on this board feel, but they just don't say it. I had my doubts as well, but honetly, there is nothing we can do about it now. I personally dont know much about SVG but there are a few on this board who speak highly of him (Emory and Miami to name a few). All we can do at this point, is move forward with 100% backing of our new coach and hope for the best. Let's see if we are able to keep Darko and attract some quality free agent.

I hope you guys are happy now

Ok Emory and Miami, since there isn't much I know about SVG I am going to put my trust in you guys and support him 100%.

I hope you guys are happy now

Everything I have read so far on SVG points to the fact that he may be a Brian Hill clone. This is not what a young athletic team needs. I hope he doesn't concentrate too much on the defensive end (like Hill) and doesn't try to run the half court offense this organization was trying to stay away from. I'm happy we finally have a coach, I'm just not sold on our selection. I hate the fact that we had to settle for someone with less than 3 years of head coaching experience when there were plenty of qualified candidates out there at the end of the season.

Magic to hire Van Gundy? [official thread]

Being a Magic fan I just have issues having to "Settle" for a Miami Heat reject. I can hear the Miami Heat fans at the Amway arena now. You guys think they were brutal before?

Magic to hire Van Gundy? [official thread]

quote: Van Gundy would be the ideal replacement for Brian Hill, maintaining the defensive tenacity that Hill was able to cultivate while trying to get a grip on an offense that was erratic at best Who was it that said that SVG was not defensive minded? Funny how this article also says he "wins credibility with Dwight for coaching Shaq". How about the fact that Shaq stopped responding to him and rumor has it he was the one who asked Riley to take over

Magic to hire Van Gundy? [official thread]

Every single person on this board that has put down SVG as a coach has not attached the slightest fact to support it. I'd love to hear it but they don't provide anything and they usually don't even try to rebut the facts after I post the easiest link in the world to find http://www.nba.com/coachfile/stan_van_gundy/index.html Incidentally I recently heard he is only the fourth rookie coach to have won a playoff series (I have not independendly verified that). I can't see what more the guy could have done except win a championship and he was two injuries away from getting a shot at that. I'm not trying to put him down but being a Magic fan I have never followed the Heat (avoid them like the plaque). So there is nothing for me to judge him on because besides the Heat gig he hasn't done anything else or anything since. To be honest with you, I lost a little respect for him when he didn't speak up against the injustice against him in the Pat Riley take over. He kind of faded to black without saying a word.

Name that caption - Billy's wife

"Hurry up Billy, the meters running"

    Otis name that caption

"I hope we can sell enough season tickets today to meet our quota before Billy pulls the rope"
  13. I always thought Stan Van Gundy was a defensive minded coach. Didn't he run the defense when he was Pat's assistant? Either way, if he couldn't get it done with Shaq and Wade, what makes anyone think he could get it done here? IMO the only difference between SVG and Brian Hill is that nobody here hates him "yet".
  14. Rafael17222

Schmitz say's VC on his way!!!!

I know your big on Carter Junkie and so was I, about 5 years ago. If we can get him through free agency, I'm all for it. I don't want us to lose a Darko or Ariza for someone who is "on the wrong side of 30".
  15. Rafael17222

Which star player hurt the Magic franchise the most?

My vote goes to Shaq, even though the "hurt", IMO was self inflicted. I'm surprised that Ben Wallace is not on this list.
  16. Rafael17222

Magic beware/Carter ain't what he use to be.

He is definetly not the impact player he once was. He doesn't even have the explosiveness he had just a couple of years ago.
  17. I think it is extremely pathetic how they are handling this. It is obvious that they have no confidence in his ability to coach this team. So why drag him along (and the fans for that matter)? Either way Junkie, this is already a public relations nightmare. If they keep him, there will be outrage, and if they let him go, there will be questioning of how they handled this whole thing. They should have just let him go at the end of the season, like everyone knew they should. They are just giving ammunition to those who question their existence in this town, and are fighting against the building of a new arena. Either way it is us the fans who will be losing.

You guys are the most negative bunch of people I have ever come across. You would think that we were the worst team in the league. To say that this year was a total failure, is not fair to this team. And by saying so, you should be ashamed of calling yourself an Orlando Magic Fan. You guys are funny, I would love to sit here and debate some more, but I'm off to a business trip overseas. I'll try to log on and post a response to this thread or any other in a day or so. Try not to miss me too much! While I don't agree that this season was a huge success, I do agree that it wasn't an utter complete failure either. We did improve our record from last season, even if it was by just four games. And we did make the playoffs for the first time in four years, even if we backed, or limped into it. Whether or not Brian Hill comes back next year is yet to be seen, everyday there's a new report. But whether he does or not, I don't think he is the coach to take this team to the next level. I have to agree about the negativity. Some guys take this stuff to seriously, but hey to each is own. But it is because of all the negativity that I don't frequent this board as much as I use to. But I must admit, NBAMagic47 has made it a bit more interesting around here.
  19. They need to decide what direction they are going to go with this as quickly as possible. It was not fair to everyone, especially the die hard fans, for them to post and state their vague comments all year. They need to establish what direction this team is heading, and they need to do it soon. We are at a cross road this season, all eyes are on management and they know this. The decisions they make this summer, whether it be coaching or personnel, is going to affect this organization for years to come. There is a lot at stake here. Let

    Bianchi says keep Brian Hill

Kappy, I just sent Bianchi, the following e-mail; I'm so sorry to see, that the Magic deep pockets reached, and raped the sanctity, of true journalism. All of you at the sports dept. are all sellouts to the Magic wishes, none of you have the cojones to tell the truth regarding that joke of a franchise. Brian Hill will eventually isolated and stop the progress of the young core of players that the Magic has, and all of you know that. I'm really sorry to see your lack of integrity, and commitment to the truth. A FORMER READER OF YOUR WORK, Brian Rivers Are you sure you wanted to use the terms: "Magic deep pockets reached, and raped the sanctity of true journalism" and "joke of a franchise"? It makes it appear as if you are "Anti-Magic" and not just "Anti-Brian Hill". There are enough anti-Magic people in this town. We don't need them thinking that the anti-Magic clan is growing support.

WHY SHOULD WE KEEP BRIAN HILL AS COACH?

Everyone is offering their opinion on how much they dislike the coach, but only a select few are actually providing solutions to our coaching problem. We can only talk about Coach Hill's rotation, strategy, etc., so many times. GET OVER IT!!! I second that notion WPMagic. It's like ground hog day in here lately. The only reason why I log on a read some of these coach threads is for comic relief.

    Was this season a success?

quote: Originally posted by richnba:I wonder, lets all do something and forget that big winning streak at the end of last year. Despite what "analyst" will say we played great against a veteran laden Detroti that in my mind was not laying down but playing pretty **** hard. If u throw away all the expectations it was a successful year. I agree richnba, it might not have been what everyone expected coming into this season, especially with the way we ended last year and the way we started this year, but if we improved even in the slightest, it was a success. It might not have been a huge success, but it was a success none the less. Remember guys, you have to crawl before you can walk. And I can hear it now, "We have been crawling for years!" I know we have, but for some reason, this crawl seems to be different! Before you know it, we will be walking then running in now time!
