Start Arenas, and you will see a difference ...
KillingInTheNameOf replied to Arielle's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Start Arenas... Start Anderson... Play QRich... Start JJ... Play Clark... Start Arenas... None of these things are going to significantly alter the dynamics of this team. They are little more than futile attempts to grasp at straws. Anderson started, he didn't magically become Dirk. JJ isn't magically going to become Ray Allen & Arenas isn't going to transform into Agent 0 again. -
So, basically, this team is right where it was before the trades. I'm shocked that a team struggling with defensive intensity could make wholesale changes that failed to bring in a single defensive minded player while trading two and still has a problem with defensive intensity.

To recap: Melo to NY DWill to NJ Gerald Wallace soon traded Orlando has sleeping giant Drunk on Mystery is now high on paint thinner

Yup, this thread has become more depressing than stories of state Dems running & Global caliphate...

I thought D-Will talk was more transparent than Lord Xenu's claim not to recognize JS cast...from trash TV. Now it's just depressing. Dwight will not be a happy camper when the dust settles and who can blame him?

Thanks. The not so subtle difference between pushing the ball in transition and playing up-tempo b-ball is lost on me.

Making The List: The Top 25 Orlando Magic Players of All Time: #8

I will never understand why Meer refuses to push the ball or why SVG doesn't blow blood vessels every game imploring him to do so.

Who would want Wallace when you could have Hedo for the same $ and an extra year? Besides, he's not a good 3 point shoota.

This is absurd. Clearly the solution is to allow the best players to earn the most money, but then redistribute it evenly among all the players.

Official All-Star Weekend Rookie/Sophomore, Skills Challenge, and All-Star Game Thread
KillingInTheNameOf replied to Chase's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Agree. Mix of old & new format where participants get 2 attempts per dunk and qualify on best 2 of 3 scores would produce more excitement. Watching McGhee take 7-8 attempts per dunk zapped all excitement out of them. I've seen Tony Hawk go over and over on the ramp when attempting first 720+ type tricks, but it was upon conclusion of competition, and exhibition like. Maybe open that type situation up while final judging is done to spark wild attempts of new tricks??? -
FWIW, I disagree w/conventional wisdom of TBN that Miami is better playoff opponent than Boston. I have very little confidence vs. either, but Boston is at least vulnerable in an up-tempo game, & Orlando has no answer for any of Miami's big 3 in isolation. I doubt that bodes well for playoff basketball. The only way I see Orlando reaching the Finals beyond injury or trade altering dynamics is through Boston & Chicago is some fashion. Chicago I think actually matches up well w/Miami, but we'll see how they fair in next 2 vs. Heat.

Official All-Star Weekend Rookie/Sophomore, Skills Challenge, and All-Star Game Thread

Skills challenge was painful. Can't even decide what was most annoying aspect of dunk competition. Daryl Dawkins, Kenny Smith, Pam McGhee, Cheryl Miller, asain midget, exhausting # of failed dunk attempts, Dwight sleep walking through telecast, contrived use of props, or Barkley & Co. pimping Kia. Derozen dunk was by far the best, Griffin was more exciting in initial misses than makes by himself or anybody else outside Derozen. And listening to debate over Ray Allen as greatest all-time shooter...come on. -
Easy Ahmadinejad, I was jokingly attempting to call your attention to what appeared to be an obvious oversight. Guess it wasn't.

More relevant ? Do Magic even want to catch Chicago for 3rd? Miami appears destined to pass Boston for top seed in East, it would take a minor miracle for NY to make up 5.5 games over 25 vs. ATL. So, would Magic prefer path of Atlanta & Miami to ECF or NY/Melo & Boston?

In what parallel sports universe is the All-2nd Team decided simply by who receives the most 2nd team votes? Seems you jobbed AddiFB & Osprey pretty good.

Cutestory's tabulations of 1st & 2nd team would make Al Franken laugh...ironically, he screwed himself out 1st Team status.

Potential Bigs We Can Acquire? (Post-Trade Deadline Edition)
KillingInTheNameOf replied to NittanyBuc's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Speaking for Orton, didn't Otiz mention he would return following All-Star break? Must not be on schedule, cuz nothings been mentioned recently. -
Fans & media frequently speculate Memphis wants/needs improved 3-pt shooting simply because they take and make the fewest. Anytime Hollins is asked what team needs, answer never includes 3-pt shooting. To me, it's no different than the constant barrage of Griz speculation based on cutting salary. They re-signed Rudy & I'll be very surprised if they trade Z-Bo. Point is unless they do trade Z-Bo, need for PF depth is non-existant. I'm not sure how much OJ's future was directly tied to playoff run, but his presence is currently much more important to that goal than before, & I doubt they give up before the trade deadline however. They are currently tied for 8th spot, 1.5 games out of 5th spot, & 2.5 games from 10th. If Melo is traded, their chances improve dramatically, Utah & NO's appear to be sinking like rocks, Griz play an imbalance of home games the rest of the way, and have by far the weakest April schedule of any team in the West if the can survive March minus Rudy. I bet they would trade Thabeet & Mayo for J-Rich, but I doubt that interests Otiz. Point is, I'm sure Griz remain open to trading Mayo, but I doubt they make a cursory deal for him now.

Chances Memphis deals Mayo now that Rudy is out a month is very unlikely. Can't imagine Hollins having interest in RA. He's not a proponent of the 3-ball & loves Darrell Arthur. If Memphis pulls trigger on Thabeet or Mayo deal before deadline, they were looking for C or PG, w/SF perhaps highest on their list now.

MVP! MVP! MVP! It's a 2-player race.....

D. Rose is the truth, but I agree with metaphorphes of BMP to the extent Bulls record is more validation for Thibideau placing 2nd in COTY than Rose finishing 2nd in MVP. -
Who is the worst commentator?
KillingInTheNameOf replied to KandiKane's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Dicky V followed his Dwight/Okafor rant w/an equally epic Iguodala So./Luke Jackson Sr. later in the lotto. Of course Cleveland took Jackson a pick behind Iguodala and if memory serves correct...he became the first lotto pick not to have his extension picked up. -
