Magic going in for Chris Paul

This thread has so many parallels to the epic and ongoing Wimbledon Tennis match its unreal. Both began the same day, have now continued into a third day, and this thread is approaching the same number of pages as total games played (in the fifth set at least). I'm as proud to have read every page as those sitting at court 18 for the third day straight!

    The "OFFICIAL" Offseason Thread

It seems to me that Chris Paul is a player that may be attainable considering how well Collison played in his stead. New Orleans could use a center (Aaron Gray & E. Okafor, yuck!) so we could do something like Gortat, Meer, and players/picks. This way we have our PG and C of the future locked down and re-build the team around those two.

What a badass! I've been collecting his RC's for the past three years and they are exploding right now. Anyways, take care!

    All I hope for...

We need to just stay in this game going into the fourth and keep the pressure on the C's. The longer we stay in the game, the more pressure the C's players and fans will feel. We've got nothing to lose and the C's must win tonight...they know they won't win game 7 in Orlando.

    Cavs or C's....who you want?

I guess it would be kinda cool to knock off the past two champions in route to our first championship. That would effectively squash any "cake walk" talk. BTW, has anyone given any thought to the fact that the Magic closed out the old Boston Garden in 1995? Hopefully thats just a trivial point and never becomes ironic!

    Cavs or C's....who you want?

I'd prefer the Cavs because I think its a better matchup for us, but if we can't beat the Celtics with home court then we don't deserve the title.

    RICK'S RANT OWNS LEBRON!

quote: Originally posted by Sebi: quote: Originally posted by davcivic:Jordan was a different kind of arrogance. I mean he still tried to keep it classy. I don't know. Maybe the fact that I was 12 or so when he played has something to do with my image of MJ. Same here. I guess one could call Jordan "arrogant" but then I think we'd need a stronger word for Lebron. I find some of Lebron's actions not only arrogant but also ridiculous (the dancing and hand-shakes). I definitely agree with everything Kamla said. Here's something else I noticed: Both the Cavs and Heat are our rivals (and Miami has been an inner-state rival long before Lebron helped the Cavs back into the playoffs) still I get the impression that most Magic fans actually like Dwyane Wade while they really dislike Lebron. There just is something about Lebron's personality and attitude... Its called entitlement. Lebron beieves he is the "Chosen One" and is entitled to act the way he does on and off the court. I think the media feeds this belief.

Draft Preview: Who to watch in March Madness

I know we tend to blow leads, but I hadn't necessarily associated that with Williams...at least not as consistently as you are making in sound.

Draft Preview: Who to watch in March Madness

What's wrong with J-Will? I think he's got enough left in the tank for one more run. FA then maybe? Either way, a rookie probably will be third string.

Orlando Fans Get Props from "Player X"

I went to almost all the playoff games during our first run to the NBA Finals and Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals was the loudest I have ever heard the O-rena. Absolutely deafening. Only went to the first playoff game vs. Philly last year so I can't make a comparison for the deeper rounds.

Draft Preview: Who to watch in March Madness

If he declares I'd say go after Eric Bledsoe. A rookie will probably be third string behind a re-signed J-Will and this will give him a year to learn the ropes and then take over the backup spot during the 2011-12 season. Bledsoe has a very high ceiling and could work his way into a starting spots once Jameer declines. All depends on if he declares, which is likely dependent on Kentucky winning the tournament.

ECF sure prove your point. lol again going back to last year. we are two different teams than last year. new players, better matchups. We are a better team then last year and you no longer give us match up problems. You guys are at best, the same team as last year talent wise. At the beginning of the season you were worse than last year, but now you guys worked up your way to being about the same. If you're so much better, why is your record going to be almost exactly the same as last year? It's funny that you chastise us for pointing out last years failure, while your entire argument is based on what you "think" is going to happen in the future. it's really hard to beat 66-16... Not in the playoffs...

Why isn't D12 a top prospect for MVP?

quote: Originally posted by AnotherCavsFan: quote: Originally posted by gobucsmagic: The same thing was said about the Cavs last year too. How'd that turn out again? Last year there was no Shaq, Jamison, Parker, Moon, JJ. Ben Wallace and Anderson Varejao can't guard Rashard Lewis. Antawn Jamison can. Ilgauskas can't guard Dwight Howard. Shaq can. The matchup problems the Magic presented have been fixed. But the games still have to be played, and everything has to fall in to place. LOL! We'll see. Seems like deja vu to me. Everyone will pick Cleveland and it will be another epic fail and end with Lebron James pouting like a two-year old and storming off the court. I'd really hate to be a Cavs fan counting on a 38-year old, fat, injured Shaq, Antawn (never played in a big game) Jamison, A. Parker, and J. Moon. Yikes, thats a whole lot of faith in players who haven't exactly proven much in the NBA. Magic in 6, again.

Every analyst on the planet says the Cavs are the best team in the East, but you guys don't think so. Why is that? Because you're fans. Just like I think our team is better than the Magic. Because I'm a fan. The same thing was said about the Cavs last year too. How'd that turn out again?

quote: Originally posted by AnotherCavsFan: quote: Originally posted by LeBrickJames:Is this guy SERIOUSLY saying that the Magic get as many calls as the Cavaliers? LMAO...denial at it's WORST.. What a joke. The only reason D12 gets foul calls is because they are INTENTIONAL FOULS. I saw the game between Lebron and Detroit last night. The reffing, as usual, was such a joke. Lebron goal tends, Cavaliers hammer detroit down low causing them to miss shots, but when you breathe on Lebron, he gets an AND-1 call. Despicable. How could you be so blind as not to see that? Denial is thinking that the only reason you're team has the record they have is because they are that good. Do you honestly think these teams are good enough to have the records they have? For you guys to complain about Nelson, Lewis, Carter, etc. seems the Magic have a pretty darn good record. I have accepted that the more popular players get the calls. Obviously from your perspective, the Cavs are going to get the calls, because you hate them. And if I really wanted to, I could watch a Magic game and complain about Dwight not getting fouls called on him. Tomato, Tomatoe. Every star gets special treatment. Half of the time Dwight touches the ball in the paint, it's because he elbowed and shoved his way to getting it. But do you see that? No. Because you are a Magic fan, and that's fine. I don't see all the fouls the Cavaliers get given. That's how it works as fans. Just enjoy your teams ride to the playoffs and support them, rather than try to prove someone wrong about something that is happening everywhere, not just for said persons team. You are choosing to be blindly ignorant then. These things will become much more obvious to you when Lebron is wearing a different jersey next year and bowling his way through A. Varejeo and company.

quote: Originally posted by demondeacs13:Again, you guys are giving LeBron too much credit. My biggest hangup with LBJ is his tendency to be too passive on defense. A lot of LeBron's fouls are offensive fouls. Players simply don't attack him much when he's on defense, and he won't actually defend the opposing team's best player until the final few minutes of the game, where refs rarely call fouls anyway. Yes, he's aggressive on offense, but how many people do you see stepping in his way to take a charge every game? Maybe 1? It rarely happens. Dwight's more inclined to pick up offensive fouls because he posts up and uses his arms and elbows. Of course he's a great player but his position and his style of play ON BOTH ENDS just leads to him getting more fouls called on him than LeBron. Seriously, people give LeBron's defense entirely too much credit. He's good for a few chase down blocks and can play solid D when he really really gives a ****...but the thing is, if you watch him over the course of the game, he just backs off of whoever he is guarding to offer help D to his teammates. I'm not talking about defensive fouls. I'm talking about on the offensive end where he constantly lowers his shoulder and drives through set defenders, which should be an offensive foul, but instead gets the continuation call and either scores or gets to the foul line. This is the bs that most of us are referring to.

I watch every Cavs game, and guess what? THE SAME **** THING HAPPENS TO THEM. Do you think they get every single call right? Obviously not. Your name says it all. You're in denial for some reason. Get over it. Your team is going to get just as much help getting to the ECF as the Cavs will, because that is what AMERICA($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) wants to see. Then maybe you can explain how Lebron James, one of the most physical players in the game (especially on the offensive end where he constantly initiates contact) only averages about 1.5 personal fouls a game? Surely you would agree that this is very perplexing and counter-intuitive given his activity level and aggressiveness on the court...would you not?
  21. Washington will be playing their 3rd game in three nights after playing a make-up game with Atlanta last night (back to back to back, ouch!) so there's really no excuse for losing this one. Magic should roll to another 20+ point win and stay rested for Charlotte on Sunday.
