We're rebuilding I'd imagine our roster is going to change dramatically over the next few years but there are a few people that are here for the long run. Who do you think that are? I've bolded the guys who I think are...
Arron Afflalo
Gustavo Ayon
Glen Davis
Moe Harkless
Al Harrington
DeQuan Jones
Josh McRoberts
E'Twaun Moore
Jameer Nelson
Andrew Nicholson
Kyle O'Quinn
J.J. Redick
Ish Smith
Hedo Turkoglu
Nikola Vucevic
Arron Afflalo
Gustavo Ayon
Glen Davis
Moe Harkless
Al Harrington
DeQuan Jones
Josh McRoberts
E'Twaun Moore
Jameer Nelson
Andrew Nicholson
Kyle O'Quinn
J.J. Redick - I would love JJ to stay, he is perfect for this system, but I think he'll be offered too much in the free agent market for our rebuilding plans.
Ish Smith
Hedo Turkoglu
Nikola Vucevic

I usually agree with your posts, but I hate to think that you actually believe Henny has any choice in whether we win or not. Our players, young or not, are professionals and every time they step on the court, they want to win. Haven't you ever played a sport, even just for fun?
Why in the world would these players want to risk their futures, and careers, in order for a franchise to get "good" draft picks. The fact is, they may not be on the team at that point, and they are fighting for their next contract and next job.
Im sorry, but no professional athlete would go along with this logic. I agree that we wont be near the playoffs, but to say guys are going to flush away the season because their GM told them to?
No chance.
I think he meant that Hennigan will trade away some of the vets to give our young guys a chance to develop, clear cap space, obtain assets, and make sure we don't win too much. :)

Going to the game tonight!
I like the new motion offense SO much more than 4 out - 1 in. I expect we'll see alot of JJ, Afflalo, Baby on the floor at the same time to close out games.
I'm excited to see the development of this team. The discussions of this board will shift back to discussions like in the past, of what player A could do better, what he did well this game, and what he appears to be adjusting to, etc.
Can Nik be a double double guy?
Can Harkless learn quickly and become a good player right away?
Can Nickleson become a better rebounder, defensive-minded player?
Will O'Quinn adjust to the speed of the game (looks kinda lost out there so far)
Will we be able to stop ANYONE (I think we will be able to score, but will lose games due to our defense).
Will Hedo get traded? Anyone? Please?
Can Baby keep his head on straight when things arent going to go well at times and he's not doing as well as he hoped? Will he pout?
Will DQJ have any impact on any games?
Lets get beyond, should we tank, or should we make the playoffs. Lets shift our focus to player development and enjoy the breakdown of the games on a game by game basis looking for positives and negatives to discuss.
What kind of things are you curious to see play out over the season?

Now who is the drama one here??
Thanks for wasting time in my life to read your garbage.
I remember Jack Daniels always was optimistic now all we have is pessimistic people on this board who all think they should be the GM here and act like their approval of a trade matters...
I support this team and root for whatever changes management makes trusting its got the goal to someday lead us to a championship. (except Otis
's decessions which I think we all know made no sense"
You sir are the biggest Magic fan on this board! I applaud your unyielding faith and optimism.
Hopefully that's the response you've been looking for and we can move past your nonsensical rambling, viewed through rose colored glasses that apparently shield you from reality.

Zach Lowe: Addendum to Magic/max level cap room next summer discussion: If they're under cap, that $17.8 trade exception counts against it. Bye, room -
I'm all for getting it done ... although I'm pretty sure there will always be some who, blaming the organization very much so as SVG did recently, will cheer for the dumb ass ... how would he feel if no one even showed up for the game?
This is Orlando... half the fans there will be Laker fans anyway.

Did anyone hear the SVG interview today on ESPN? He said he wasnt upset with Dwight and didnt blame him for wanting out. He said Management was a total disaster and did not handle things properly at all. I think it was pretty blunt and he seemed to be pointing the finger to Otis and Martins as being the issue....IF anyone really cares any more. Stan never seemed to pull punches so Ill take it as factual.
While I think the Magic FO dropped the ball in alot of areas, I think SVG's comments may be a little self-serving. If he wants to ever coach for the large-market teams he can't be labeled as the coach who can't get along with superstars. I'm sure he wasnt overly happy with the inference that the Magic were replacing him for someone that can relate to players.

close, but not allowed. You can't combine a TPE + Player as a package. The TPE has to be used on its own to trade for 1 player or a a group of players that fit within the TPE salary.
ok, thanks for the clarification Nyce1. Can it be combined with a draft pick?
-
Thanks i understand it better now. From what i read somewhere else i thought it's only purpose was to allow us to sign a player for up to that amount if we were over the cap, basically adding 17.6 million to our cap space. I.didn't know it could assist us with making other moves
I saw someone explain it as a coupon. Since salaries have to be within a certain percent of each other and you want a guy that makes $8m a year but only want to send out a guy that makes $4m a year. The TPE makes up the other $4m. Without that TPE you would have to try and find another guy on your team, or multiple guys from each team, till you get to matching salaries.
-
I guess that sorta answered my question :lol somewhat
Well, hard to say what Hennigan will do really. I wouldn't be too surprised if the entire TPE wasn't used.
I think, if I am reading into the whole "flexibility" comment is that the TPE gives them freedom to make a trade for someone and not have to worry about how to make all the contracts match. So deals in essence become a little easier because they are not haggling or deals falling through over "throw-ins".
Also, I think "it's a process", means that they aren't just going after guys to just use the TPE before it expires. They have to fit the vision and they have to have workable contracts.
I think they have an ideal Magic player mold (Afflalo) and they'll look for guys that fit that mold. (Young, coachable, team-oriented, high character, and good contract value).

John Denton: #Magic's $17.8 million Traded Player Exception is believed to be the biggest in NBA history. Magic have 1 yr to use it if they want.
John Denton: Consider this #Magic fans: #Mavs had $12M TPE for losing T.Chandler; used to get L.Odom; that gave Lakers TPE they used to get S.Nash
John Denton: When #Mavs dealt L.Odom, they got another $8.9M TPE. #Jazz used TPE from M.Okur deal to absorb Mo Williams from Clippers earlier this summer
John Denton: TPE 1 avenue #Magic might pursue to improve if they don't want to wait on draft or free agency in future. It's all about flexibility now.

Love his motor. A team always needs a guy thats willing to do the dirty work. Guys like Dennis Rodman are hard to find nowadays. (Isn't that the understatement of the year).

Looking at all of the teams in the NBA, the Atlanta Hawks have the best players to help now, picks to help next year and cap space to get rid of 2 contracts. Let's trade Dwight and get rid of Chris Duhon and Quentin Richardson's contracts. We can get back All Star Power Forward Al Horford, a great starting point guard in Jeff Teague, John Jenkins, Zaza Pachulia, the 1st round lottery protected pick from the Nets and the 1st round pick for 2013.
This trade is good for Orlando because the headache and 2 bad contracts will be gone! Orlando gets 2 great players which we have shown interest in in Horford and Teague, a true center in Zaza and a potential great shooting guard. Our Magic also get 2 great 1st round picks which Hennigan may have wanted more than current players. With Teague and Horford coming in, Orlando can look to trade Nelson and Davis and have only 2 bad contracts left that they can continually look to move.
This trade works for Atlanta because of the Cap Space. It is good for Atlanta because they get their #1 guy, and a backup PG and SF which they don't have.
W00T! In before you get told to put this in the Dwight Howard everything thread! :gortat:
Shame on you!

Mike Fisher: 'sources close to Dwight howard' is just a wordy way of saying 'buffoons.' -
Hello everyone,
I am a long time Rockets fan and am curious about Howard's back. Any new info? As you guys already know ... we are not lucky with our stars staying healthy.
Not as bad as McGrady's back, or Yao's foot, or Grant Hill's foot, or Penny Hardaway's foot. In comparison it's about the same as Hedo's Turkoflu.

I think we need to watch for the Asik offer sheet to come out. That seems to be the piece Hennigan & Houston are waiting for. The rest seems like posturing from all the various camps.
HWNSNBU/Dwight wanting to go to somewhere of his choosing
Houston wanting to limit what they would give up
Magic wanting to increase the assets coming in
Personally I think that Hennigan has already decided that he likes the Houston deal best. It fits with all the news we've heard about what he is looking for in cap flexibility, young talent on rookie contracts, draft picks. Its just a matter of how much we send out and how much we get back.
I'm not strapping in (ok well I cant totally pretend I havent been refreshing the screen looking for news) till the offer sheet has been submitted and we are at day 2.5 of Chicago's timeline to answer.
In the meantime Hennigan will sit back and listen to all that comes his way that might try and either, improve Houston's available pieces to negotiate with, or see if the Lakers can find a partner to increase their bid.

Should D12 sign the necessary paperwork I believe those going to the game tonight should bring signs that say, "Apology Accepted - Now lets take the 'Ship!"

I thought it was the LEAST favorable of the Den/NY picks?
