  1. I think most kids that make it to NBA you can’t judge who they are till 5 years in. Look at Curry and his ankle problems, scouts would have wrote him off but now he is one of the biggest star in the NBA. If Cole have a chip on his shoulder and put in the work he will be great. I actually like RJ a little more and I really like his upside.

  2. SAG is borderline all-stars already and will continue to improve at 23...plus 6 which could be Kuminga or Barnes. Can someone develops into someone special in the top 3?(Green, Mobley, Cunningham) maybe, but someone thought joe smith, Krame Brown, Darko, Anthony Bennett we’re special too. I would take that deal and run.

  3. Unless its green, I dont want us to move. There is real possibility if someone pick barnes, we can get suggs and Kuminga in this draft. I am addicted to this years since there are so many possibility. Can pick Kuminga and trade 8th for pick and 12-14th and pick up Sengun, can get Barnes and Kuminga is he drop, can get Barnes and Moody and etc

Good points. I do like some of the assets he brings that you mentioned — efficiency, getting to the line, creativity he’s shown in the passing game.

His PnR scoring is nice but his bread and butter at this juncture is in the post, and I just don’t see that translating well. Not only for the reason you mentioned (better post defenders in the NBA), but that’s just not how the game is played anymore. Outside of Embiid and Jokic, teams don’t really dump it in the post to a guy and ask him to go to work (apologies to Shaq, who would love to see this routinely). Even Vooch, who is extremely skilled at that, started primarily picking/popping and spotting up.

So for me the question becomes: what is the ceiling of a player who is good in PnR offense, great at post scoring in a league that doesn’t value post scoring that highly, but possibly can’t be on the court late in games? The answer to me is “not very high” UNLESS he does develop the shot significantly and can become more clever on D. Any maybe he will! To your point, he has a ton of time to do it, and generally guys who play with high motors also have good work ethic.

2021 NBA Draft scouting report: Alperen Sengun (msn.com)

This is a pretty good write up of him, like you said defense is a problem, but with our team i think we can cover that up. His foot work and fundamentals is advance for someone his age. There is still room for him to grow both physically and his game. It would be interesting to see if his growth plate is sealed. if not if he can grow another inch or 2....he would be a breast inside. He NEED to develop a jump shot, but I think that will come with age and experience. There are so much possibility with this draft...so excited.

  5. Unless you are a big city like NYC/Brooklyn , LA, Miami, SF and etc. You are not going to sign superstars to form super team. You also wont be able to tank constantly and get lucky in the draft. For Orlando to win a championship, we need to draft good players, get lucky they develop and maybe sign a big time free agent to push us over the top. We wont be able to lure lebron, Curry, or Zion. For a small/mid market team you need to tank, get lucky, and sign one star. Cant just do it from draft and cant just do it with signing free agents.

  6. Kuminga should be coming in to impress the magic early next week. So far I know moody, Barnes, Wagner, kuminga, Kispert, jalen Johnson had/will workout by the magic and we had few oversea prospects for the #33. I hope someone pick Barnes and Mobley or Suggs fall and we pick up kuminga with the 8. That would be my ideal draft. I think it would be too costly to trade up most likely will cost us 5&8 and maybe bulls pick in the future. I am happy with our current position and if we can develop the young guys...we will be fine.
