Just a regular Magic fan

As you pointed out, the Raptors have exploited one of our weaknesses. It will be interesting to see what Clifford comes up with. IMO, it will bode very well for him if he can right the ship, so to speak, and get us back to our winning ways. Playing at home will help, but now it is our turn to hit them in the mouth and impose our will.

With the regular season being one thing, and the playoffs being another, do you think Vooch has hurt his chances for that big payday?

Just watched the game. There is a lot our team can learn (about themselves, and x's & O's) from a loss like this. Whatever happens, I am so glad we made the playoffs this year. You can't substitute game experiences like what we saw last night during the regular season. As with ya'll, I am a little bummed that we lost, but I believe this is really going to help us in the long run.

I realize this is sort of like his first year because of his injuries, and he has shown us flashes of his potential, but I would love to see JI emerge (defensively and offensively) as a breakout player.

The Raptors are gonna try and pull a Mike Tyson and hit us hard in the mouth. We need be like Evander Holyfield and maintain our poise, confidence, and composure. Take their best shot and keep on coming. We can do this!

IMO, when the refs make it about them, then they are doing something wrong.

If you could think of one word that describes our Magic team this year, what would it be? Me? I would pick: re·sil·ience /rəˈzilyəns/ noun noun: resiliency 1. the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. "the often remarkable resilience of so many British institutions" 2. the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity. "nylon is excellent in wearability and resilience" No matter what teams throw at us we keep fighting and bouncing back.

When I saw that they left him wide open at the top of the arc I was like, "OMG, big mistake, he's got this!" Huge shot by DJ. Love that afterward you could see he still has that chip on his shoulder. I see places where people still say we don't have a PG. LOL! Also, I hope I don't hear the Raptors complaining about penalties. Just saying...

Why do you like Thybulle over the others?

I'll take any of our guys breaking out. Ross is sort of breaking out now, but if he can take it up another level then that would be HUGE!

Thanks! I gave 'em a look and they are some nice players, too. I can see where NAW is probably better than the other two. However, there is something about Thybulle and his awareness. He seems to have a knack for making a defensive play. Of course, with the talent level increase in the NBA I am not sure how well that translates, but it sure is intriguing. Of the three, is NAW your favorite, or would you be happy with one of the others?

There ya go! I like that kind of thinking! How would ya'll categorize the talent depth in this years draft? Are we hating it at 16, or could we get someone who could actually contribute? Also, how easy would it be to move up to where we could snag a guy like White? If we could do it, should we?

Below is some more data from backetball-reference.com just to see how we compare. Some of the data is splitting hairs, but it kind of gives a general idea of what the team's strengths or weaknesses are. Of course the playoffs will be more intense. It will be interesting to see what key elements prevail and gives their team the edge and victory. This data is season long. We might be closely matched with this, but I think since the all star break it would show a slight advantage for us because we played much better the 2nd half of the season. IMO, we will make a series of it and may even move on to the 2nd if we can keep the confidence we have had in ourselves the 2nd half. Intangibles like that are hard to measure, but I believe has had a huge role with our success. When the other team makes a run, we don't panic. We usually step up our D, and a lot of times use that to take back control of the game. Go Magic!! Woot!

Not sure if this is a good fit for you or not, but after the games I usually peruse YouTube for the Magic after game pressers, etc. and I see some game videos there. Not sure if there will be a full game this time or not, but it might be better than nothing.

I was curious to see how our players compared to each other so I took some basic stats from basketball-reference.com. In addition, I pulled the data for the Raptors too. I realize stats can be subjective and is not the end all, be all, but I thought it might be interesting never-the-less.

We split with the Raptors 2-2. However, didn't we have a hard time slowing down Lowry and VanVleet? If I remember right, they pretty much could do what ever they wanted against DJ and MCW. I am excited to see what our coaches will come up with and if our team defense will help us prevail.

When it comes to the playoffs, what matters more, a good offense, or a good defense?
