  1. I really hope management does not fall in love with another player having a career year in a contract year.   I mean Fournier can opt out.  But look what happened last year with Vooch and Ross.  Now this year Vooch is shooting 45% percent from the field as a center and missed games just like he does every other year and Ross shooting 41%. from the field.  SMH

It's hard to just do that unilaterally though. Our team building philosophy has been develop young guys by sticking them in games that matter vs giving them roles with no need for winning. So when we trade Vucevic it can't just be for stuff it needs to be for pieces that for the plan and at least give us a backup plan for who fills a chunk of his minutes.

I understand what you are saying but how many more years are we going to have this conversation about  Vooch and Fournier?  Sometimes you just have to rip the band aid off and move forward.  Maybe you get a filler, cap relief and a pick.  I don't know what is available out there.

Oh. That's not blowing it up.

Yeah we should do that. I'm skeptical we'll trade Vucevic this season unless we have a really bad January (which is possible). We'd be dumb not to trade fournier.

Evan and Vooch are just those NBA players that put up stats but don't move the needle when it comes to wins.  Time for WeltHam to put there stamp on the franchise.

I just want a guy we can finally build around. It’s been too damn long.

I don't know if you remember the McGrady years when he made the playoffs with a bunch of CBA players?  At least we had a puncher's chance as a 7th or 8th seed because we had him!!  People always try to bring up the lottery did not work for us.  Really?  How in the hell did we get to two NBA finals (Shaq, and Dwight)  2 #1picks in the lottery.

The difference in the NFL with quarterbacks is that some teams stick with an average or flawed quarterback because you can win with an average or flawed quarterback with the right supporting cast. The Bucs and Ravens are prime examples of teams that won the big game thanks to an elite defense and solid enough offensive supporting cast. The Giants even won a pair of Super Bowls with Eli Manning.

You can’t compensate the same way in the NBA. To win the finals a team needs at least one star if not multiple stars. Small market teams like ours are unlikely to attract those that test free agency unless we happen to have someone appealing enough to join, but we clearly don’t have that right now. We have a group who’s ceiling is the 8th seed. Grit and grind is all well and good but unless one of our young players ascends to star status, we get lucky in the draft, or land someone via a trade in a rental that decides to stay, we are unlikely to win anything under the current roster construction.

Sad, but true. So that leaves us with two choices. Continue with the current roster and try to get better even though we are unlikely to do so, or blow it up and start from the ground up. Sell Vuc, Fournier etc for whatever we can get in return and build around a young core of Fultz, Isaac and Bamba. With that said I don’t see us doing that under the current front office and coaching set up. We’ll be another Charlotte type team happy to compete for a low seed.

I say blow it up!  But I succinctly remember the words of Alex Martins  'We want a team that can "COMPETE" for a very long time".  I blame him for all of this crap since Dwight left!

  6. If it was Vooch for Ayton and a filler I would do that in a heart beat.  But Phoenix would laugh at us with that offer.  I mean let's be real when you consider age, contract, and playing ability JI is our only true so called untouchable asset.  Not saying Markelle can't become that but he needs an off season not worrying about health and just working on his game.  It's time for our franchise to come to a realization that 7 or 8 years of Fournier and Vuc leading the way leads to at best mediocrity on a good day.   It's like your favorite NFL team realizing there current quarterback can never get them where they want to go.  And what do smart teams do at that point they make a change and go in a different direction!  I know one thing at the beginning of this season the Knicks and the Magic had one thing in common and that is both of us had 0% chance of making the finals.  How many times will getting our asses kicked in the first round with no room for improvement satisfy fans?  Being a small market we need to move heaven and earth to find a true star first and foremost.  Once we have that with a good supporting cast and cap room we can talk about adding another star and competing for titles!   Does anybody on here who are fans of other leagues and sports teams thing it is okay for your team to strive for mediocrity?   Wow I think I just blacked out......Lol    PS.  I don't want to hear how some modicum of first round success is somehow going to lead a superstar to play here.  That's crap stars follow other stars and we don't have the cap room.

    AG missed the second half.

The +/- for DJ is because of the times he was on the court and he was certainly not that poor.. DJ was fine early, but he was tired late. The bench was horrible and the rest of the team was bad in the 4th quarter, and DJ played with the bench and with the starters when they were bad.

Birch and Iwundu were the worst. Fultz was off too. They took Ross out of the game for the most part.

    Who cares?  You analyzing nothing

I don't like the rotations in this half, but we are severely depleted. Add the horrific play of Birch and Iwundu who can't even let our other guys get a short rest. We had to fight to get back in the game when we are already tired. We would have to play the starters 15 straight minutes and it looks like we already hit the wall the way it's going.

If anyone is foolish enough to think that Giannis and Gordon are all the Bucks are, they simply don't realize how good Milwaukee is. The Bucks are very deep and essentially have 2 complete starting lineups. Ilyasova and both Lopez brothers are playing great. When you add Middleton, were guarding the 4 leading guys with 3 guys who have trouble defending guys with size that can shoot. Birch is not tall enough to guard either Lopez.

They are the best team in the NBA and we don't matchup with them. They are too deep for us. We can't have offensive droughts and we must defend as well as we are capable to even make it close . When we're depleted due to injury we have to play perfect to have a chance. Good offense will beat good defense every time. Most people forget that they are also a great defensive team. Winning takes great shooting because they clog the paint until you force them to adjust, and we're not made up of shooters.

The next 4 games are must wins and we should win 3 or 4 if we are going to be the team we want to be.

And what team do you honestly think we can be?

The draft lottery (extreme luck) or building a winning team that is attractive enough for a star to come to via trade or FA.

What fantasy world are you living in?  Stars come to play with other stars and we have none.  I have been a fan since 89 and tired of chasing mediocrity and having no real direction.  Some of you newer fans were so happy making the playoffs last year and that was cute.  But we are and have been a franchise that chases rings!!

I'm not a big believer in the losing culture thing but a large part of this board does believe in it.

More importantly playoff experience matters because it's a different game with far more scouting, more intensity, and slower pace. If we want to advance past the 1st round our young guys need to know what to expect. That Toronto loss may not pay dividends this year or next year but it will eventually.

You have a point if we had stars.  Like the maturation process with Shaq and Penny in the 90's or Dwight's process he went through until 2009.  But your point is moot if you don't have the right player or players.
