I feel the same way about after 7 years of losing that fans have a defeatest attitude. We should be proud of what we have accomplished and what we can accomplish moving forward! We are the f**king Orlando Magic! We don't settle for mediority we dare to freaking dream for something great! Just like in 93 when he had a 1 and 66 chance to get the #1 pick and we did. I have the attitute of greatness and not settling for something less. If we fail fine, at least we tried!

With the new lotto odds what you're asking for is being prepared for 7 years years of being a bottom 3 team (7 years times 14% chance of getting the number one pick gives you 98% probability of getting the number one pick).
Plus a few years to develop that guy. That's not really palatable for most fans at this point where we've been out of the playoffs for going on 7 years now.
I am very familiar with the new lotto odds. I understand the frustration of fans but to me fake success in not success. I guess I just think differently. But at the end of the day we all want the same thing and that is we love our team and want them to be successful!

Okay fine but that PG doesn't have to be broken down Mike Conley!

Oh okay I get it now. Decent may work for some of you but for me I want greatness, or at least striving for it!

So we are faced with the same long term PG solution problem in a couple of years? To get an injury prone 31 yo on a team that is not going to compete anyway? Please explain to me in what world does that make sense.

That tandem should have ended a couple of years ago.

Injuries keep coming up but I'd take 60 games of Conley and DJ or Mack as a backup over our current rotation for the next 3 years.
A bridge or stop gap to what?

Not a 31yo with an injury history. It makes no sense.

I agree. That's why we should be focused on moving Vucevic with any other moveable assets and thinking more macro instead of putting band aids on the big problem which is lack of top end talent.

He can shepherd the young players into their prime. His contract expires exactly when you'd want it to, the summer of Isaac's restricted free agency where Gordon and Bamba will be expiring contracts going into that year. That's also a good point guard class with all the point guards from the 2017 draft being restricted free agents along with Lillard an some other high profile names. So basically he gives us a hard decision point where we can commit to building around the combination of those guys while simultaneously having a bunch of cap space to fit around them or pack everything in and tank again. And if Conley declines in the last year he's not going to turn into some terrible player. He'd go from a 20 and 6 guy to a 14 and 6 guy.
I get all your points. But I don't believe the Isaac, Bamba, and Gordon core is enough of a talent base moving forward. And aren't we at a hard decision point right now? Why not tank now to add to that talent base instead of making it an option in another couple of years? Conley is a horrible idea and screams for desperation to just be mediocre.

Briefly tell me how it makes sense.

I didn't see your previous post.

A 31 yo Conley makes absolutely no sense for us. If we were a player away from being a chip contender I could totally see it.

Yes one of the worst moves ever 5 years no team option? Right along with the Biyombo sigining that summer!

I don't understand what are we making a run at? Still tied for the 7th worst record in th NBA. Let's not fall in love with fake progress. Am I wrong for believing the ulimate goal is to win a championship? How soon do we forget what it felt like in 95 and 2009? And the build up to that point. We have been blessed to have on our team some of the greatest and at the time dominant players in the NBA. (Shaq, Penny, T-Mac, Dwight). My point is you look at the last 30 plus years of NBA history every team except for the 04 Pistons had the best or a collection of best players in the league. Let's be honsest with where we are at right now.

Great loss tonight! Now 3.5 games back for the 8th seed. The sooner this meaningless charade for a playoff spot in the weak eastern conference comes to an end the sooner we can make the necessary trades for our future!

Where are all the T Ross supporters swearing he cannot be a part of a trade. This is who he is, has been, and always will be. Very streaky! Grow up kids!

Please stop the economics talk with me I have a business degree in finance. I get it. Quit trying to be the smartest person in the room and just be a good guy.

No one is doubting your intelligence. This is a forum and we are all fans. It is ok to disagree. We all have our shares of disagreements here. I think I have found a way to upset a few in the past here but at the end, we do respect each other here.
Just learn how to accept the critics from other and you will be ok. I think the thumbs down has been too excessive in my opinion but they are mainly against your attacks rather than your opinions.
I for one, appreciate you been here and be a participant in this forum.
Now, go on and get some likes!
Thanks man! It's all good. Go Magic!

And, as your resume shows, you are an NBA fan, so just like a of us you are entitled to your opinions as fans are. Nothing more...nothing less. I have been a fan since the early 1960's and it is what I am. I did not see anyone saying you know nothing about basketball only questioning what you knew about the particular subject matter you referenced. Some, on this site, are a lot smarter than just being a fan. You have had interction for ?4TheWin and I have come to have a high amount of respect for his knowledge, even when his chastised me for my OPINION!. If you want to get out of that -11 hole you are in, thicken your skin. The guys and gals on this site are passionate AND merciful. They are great MAGIC fans. They are not shy.
I here you. And I thank you for reaching out. :)
