I asked Sam Vecenie about him and he replied: I don't think THT is athletic enough to stay with 2s on defense right now. Teams are definitely concerned about how his frame will age. But there is also a thought from some execs that he could have some athletic upside if they can get him with their weight training programs. Will be a very interesting pre-draft process for him. I'm lower on him than most executives are, FWIW. Most see him as a first rounder.

So basically I think we're on the right track with him. He's problematic as is but you can build him into a two if he's receptive to that and unlock a bit more of his game.

    I respect Sam a ton.

I've been reading up a ton about Talen Horton-Tucker today. His physicals (6'4" tall, 238 lbs, 7'1" wingspan) are certainly unique... Really havent seen a whole lot of guys with measures like that. He plays SG, but seems a little undersized to play it due to his height. He turns 19 in November, he's one of the youngest guys in the draft. He's a tough defender who's offense is still raw, but he's shown he can create his own shot in small spurts of time. I feel like he has immense potential, and that WeltHam are gonna absolutely fall in love with this guy. Would you guys be happy with him at 16?

I came here right now to post that after all I've researched that I'm stabbing my flag on Talen Horton-Tucker. Have people seen his ball handling skills and Step back? Hes deceptively fast cause he looks so broad with his shoulders and wingspan.  Didnt know hes 18 till November,  that's awesome. Hell be a sophomore in the league at 20. I look at guys like Eric Gordon and Oladipo at the same height so I'm not worried at all especially with that wingspan. He fits the mold he fits the need. I'm pretty pumped and he should be there when we are on the clock hopefully.

Yeah, but that was before he stunk it up on the court against players he couldn’t regularly dominate athletically. Dude showed very little basketball skill or IQ the times I watched him play.

Yeah I can see that. Without decent handles and average height I wonder what he has that we dont have more of I  iwundu and Frazier

That's actually quite surprising. I don't know how to feel about him. On one end he is the exact player that we need; Offense, defense, apparent clutch gene. On the other I still don't know how different any of the teams he's played on are without him.

In the end I'm all for winning and adding Jimmy is an obvious talent improvement. If his attitude is the one negative then sign me up today.

What does the starting lineup look like Jimmy Gordon Issac seems a bit clustered. Jimmy at the "2"?

Minnesota is awful without Butler as is Chicago

I think he only has issues with young guys that aren't willing to put in the work as an NBA player. In Chicago, that whole locker room was a mess. Hoidberg was a lame duck, Rondo and Wade were pissed off, and Jimmy sided with the vets.

In Minnesota, he was a problem because Wiggins has a poor work ethic, and KAT wasn't a good defender. Jimmy thought they were soft, and he wanted out, since Minnesota didn't want to give him a max. People forget that that Wolves team was top 4 in the west before Butler got hurt (which in itself is more of a concern for me than his locker room issues).

In Orlando, he'd be given an extremely young team that fits the way he wants young guys to play. AG, Isaac, and Wes have all shown that they're willing to work on defense, which is what Jimmy wants. And guys like Bamba (who has been rumored to have a low motor) and Fultz could learn a lot from him.

    This is persuading

What difference has Jimmy made on a team? I have nothing but the eye test to back this up but he just doesn't resonate as a difference maker to me.

Are the 6ers significantly any better with him?

Minny lost 11 more games this year but was that a Jimmy thing?

I don't even mind that he's a jerk he just doesn't seem like a number one guy to me.

Hes a bigger Oladipo. Still a valuable player just not a superstar.

OMG! Taking a chance on some players wasting away on other teams is what we should have done the last 5 years. Not now!

    We need sure things! SMDH!

That's a strategy that should ALWAYS be implemented.  It's simply buy low sell high but for us the inverse as we did with Fultz. If we could end up with the #1,#4, & #6 pick in the 2017 draft (which was a very deep draft) than that's the stuff fanboy message board fantasies are about.

I’m hearing that Dallas may offer Vooch a max, perhaps that is just posturing, but they feel that Vooch, Porzingis & Doncic would be a strong core. Is it just me or do you think these guys would get killed in small ball with athleticism, speed and length?  What does the board think?

I'd love to see him in Dallas. Alongside those three youd probably have to have a couple Robereon types

I honestly think we are going to draft really good player at 16 And likely with our 2nd round pick that will allow us to wait patiently in the free agency. We might just go with 1 year contracts in free agency and I will be ok with that.

I dont see us signing Vuc and I am not certain how they feel in signing Ross to a multiyear deal.  Personally, I will be all for Ross but will not be upset if he also bails.

I agree. Now that the season and playoffs have died down and I can prioritize the long term future, all I really care about is the development of FIG-B and I trust the front office so I have confidence in whatever move they make next

Getting a center that does the 3 things 4thewin mentioned well plus shooting is just someone that we won't be able to get, they barely exist, that's why Bamba is such a good prospect and I can't believe some people are talking about giving up on him.

Bamba is the type of player that could be a super star without forcing a darn thing. He could play within the flow of an offense as a #2 or 3 scorer and be a complete stud.

    My man KD is 1A.

Did you see Durant, at argurably 6'9", doing it all? . . .slashing to the basket for layups, then falling to the floor into the cameramen (which is something a shorter player would do)? going hard to the basket for slam dunks (and not shoving or elbowing people to do it)? making opponents foul him while making 3 pt. shots?

Kawahi is more of a slasher and 10 ft' jumpers. How many three pointers does he average?

When KD decides to take over a game, HE TAKES OVER. . .SLASHING, LAYUPS, THREE PT SHOTS!. . .Get out of his way!

    KD is the Man!!!

KD simply cant be stopped by anyone but KD. Hes a legit 7 foot tall and admitted that he used to say he was 6'9" because if he said he was a 7 footer folks would just see him as a "big". When your small forward plays power forward when you're going "small" and hes 7 feet tall that's just insane

Yes he is! I love watching him play. He has that long wing span(?). He is 6'9". I thought he was taller than that. He can dribble the ball from coast to coast and make layups.

He has that long body, can create shots for himself, and doesn't have to rely on banging or shoving the opponent with his elbow to get points in the paint.

He can get a little testy/edgy too. . .technicals.  I didn't know he had it in him.

I'm drooling. . .I hope one day we have someone who develops into that type of player.

    Ahhh. . .one can dream!

Like I said earlier though. We're kind of in a position where Ross' fair market value and the artificial cap placed on an extension for him are pretty close to the same thing. I think if Ross is staying here he'll get resigned before free agency can even begin.

Can he be re-signed before free agency begins?

Relying on development of the youngsters like Isaac, Gordon, fultz and bamba, a pick and a fa while setting you up with financial flexibility for the future is by far the best we can do

the goal is not to be a perennial 8th seed. The goal is to build a real contender. You will not get that if you keep starting Fournier or pay vucevic long term crazy money

We've completely revamped our player personnel and development staff. I'm confident they can help our guys reach their potential
