Even if teams strike out on a trade no smart teams play the principle players the night before the deadline. Now the Magic are extremely injured, but c'mon we've seen everything the last few years. I think the Rockets and Nets played 7 man rotations just this year before their trade. And seriously, Ross scored 30 points and then haven't heard from him since. Did they say Bamba or Ross were injured because I missed it.

Bamba was available tonight ; Ross was questionable and then later ruled out with a “sore knee”.

I've got to say for all the uncertainty with this season's trade deadline and in the middle of such a bad season I'm very happy that there's a bit of a buzz about this place again.

lol I made this account so long ago. And my friends are sick of me talking about the Magic...who most outsiders see as an incredibly irrelevant franchise. So I wanted to hop back on and get into some good convo with you guys

Yeah it would be stupid for them to move him. He's cheap and good. Speaking of troubled young players, anyone want Porter jr from the Rockets if we complete a trade with them?

Heard he’s untouchable. Wood and Porter Jr absolutely untouchable apparently going forward.

id say no anyway because he moved to PG and is extremely ball dominant. Don’t see how he would Mesh with Fultz at all.

Total head case and super star level talent tho. Fun package. Lol

  4. Mcdaniels would be obvious get...I’d go as far as trying to pry little used Okogi or Nowell as well and Culver would assuredly be in it with salary filler to make it work. (Ed Davis)

Minnesota’s young talent pool runs deep. They are gonna trade first rounders there...so a surplus of young talent back is your best bet

Hood's contract is not guaranteed next year so trading either Evan or Gordon to Portland would result in salary relief if Hood and Collins were the filler sent back. The question is what young player and/or pick would they or could they send. To be clear you would not pick up either option. You could possibly convince either player to sign a prove it one year cheap contract.

Trent Jr is the prize acquisition. And honestly, I think that’s just fine. Aside from maybe drafting Jalen Green...Orlando has a massive two guard problem going into next season. Trent Jr provides the scoring punch and potential to justify handing out a decently lucrative contract comparable to Dillon Brooks or Malik Beasley.

I wasn’t positive if hoods contract was guaranteed or not. So yes...Hood and Collins expiring contracts and Trent Jr., is a more than fair deal, IMO. Would Orlando probably want a pick as well? Probably. But the compensation to me seems absolutely fine.

  6. I wouldn’t put it past this front office to go big once again. Would anyone really be surprised if they took Evan Mobley and tried to play him at the four next two Vooch? lol. Even tho Mobley is essentially the perfect modern day center. But that also means being a Chris Bosh/young Aldridge type.

im all in on Cade, Green, or Kuminga personally. A lot of this all hinges on if orlando Is going to get a starting caliber player back in Gordon or Fournier deals. If Orlando could net like Trent Jr or Obi Toppin it could have major ripples on what Orlando does with a top 5 pick

edit...just a side note. But the Kuminga initial fit may be a mess, as exciting a talent as he is...he was horrendous from Three in the g league. While him and Isaac would be interchangeable pieces at the forward spots...I’d be a little worried about these guys being able to consistently hit the open three...which will kill you in today’s game

I was joking. There was a reminder in a CBS article that the Magic almost traded Gordon to the Suns last deadline for Oubre and a pick. In my hopeful mind that pick was actually a pick swap with the suns last draft and we either drafted Haliburton or Vassell. But then i woke from that happy dream and here we are, can't wait to see what they do now. Because we all knew this was coming. The same thing will happen next year with Bamba.

    Gotcha boss. Haha.

Trent Jr is going to command 15+ m a year in the off-season. No cap relief at all.

Cap relief in the sense that they can sign Trent Jr. Collins would be an expiring contract. Makes things a little more manageable. And why wouldn’t you want to pay him? Unfortunately you’d have Hood on the books for a year. But you’d make the deal with every intent of Trent Jr being your long term solution at the two guard.

Orlando would have three early 20 cogs tied up for 5 years, and incoming top 3ish pick on a rookie deal. Could Be worse

  9. Gordon is what he is. He’d be a perfect piece to a championship contending roster, surrounded by outside shooters. So he can play to his strengths. He could focus less on chucking threes and playing point forward...and thrive slashing with his athleticism and focused defense.

he’s not a star...will probably never be a star...but very valuable to the right team in the right situation

  10. Houston has re-emerged as potential favorite and remain engaged in talks with Orlando as of this morning I read.

and apparently Dame Lillard is lobbying for Gordon hard so maybe a Trent Jr acquisition  isn’t totally out of the equation.

and fully healthy...meaning Fultz and Cole are back in the fold...Smart is a SG. And would be terrible next to these guys. Absolutely right, where’s the spacing? None of these guys are consistent from range at all.

marcus Smart is like a career 40% shooter, which is horrendous. Orlando needs points from that two guard position desperately. Consistency.

with two inconsistent shooters at PG...is Orlando really in a position to play Smart starter minutes like he gets in Boston? Maybe if they want to score 85 ppg

  11. Raps are motivated to move Norman Powell. Sigh. Dude is such a dangerous scorer...I just wish he was like 4 years younger. If Orlando goes full rebuild, he’s kind of on a different path.

He’s also a free agent come this off-season. So many fun names out there this year...Trent Jr, Powell, Nunn, Markannen, Horton-Tucker, Diallo, etc.

Magic Trade - AG, Fournier, and Birch

Trailblazers Trade - CJ, Gary Trent, and Enes Kanter

    Thoughts?

CJ is a franchise cog...he’s the whole reason Trent Jr is gonna walk in free agency. With CJ back from injury, Trent Jrs role has been effected greatly. CJ and Dame are their guys. CJ may get moved in the future....but right now they’re all in with those two stars heading into this years playoff

Houston owes OKC their pick in this years draft from the Westbrook trade. Unless it's top 4. They cannot trade that pick. They do own their own 2022 and 2023 picks plus a bunch from Brooklyn and a pick from Portland and some other team i forget.

Def spaced on that fact. Sigh.

im still holding out hope for a last second Portland deal. I’ve warmed to the idea of the Boston deal. Still not in love, but warming to

  14. If we were dealing Evan to the knicks...the likelihood would be multiple expiring contracts, Kevin Knox and a future pick.

if it was me...I’d start the conversation with Obi Toppin. The knicks brass never expected Randle to blossom into a legitimate star and all-star. Obi plays 8 minutes per game and is stuck in a Mo Bamba like situation and he can’t play center either. Wasted pick by the knicks, who he needs new life elsewhere
