    powe

I love Powe...sure he is an injury risk but, the guy is freakishly strong. He didnt quite shut down Dwight like Kendrick Perkins consistantly does but, he bodied him up very well whenever we played and he moves him around. He can guard players much bigger than him be it at the 4 or 5. If he heals up well, the guy is a load, who we could get on the cheap.

Absolute, Ridiculous to contact Sheed , Bass for a split MLE !!! too bad his camp is asking for the Full MLE. and has already been contacted by the Hornets willing to do so and the Spurs. $2 million wouldnt get it done at all.

    We're at $68 million now.

Gortat is a center...that jump shot would not come easily at all. He also has terrible, terrible, terrible form. Good luck with that. I love Gortat but, the guy should be playing center. That is what he is...I also wouldnt doubt that he would be upset again because, he's not going to get a lot of minutes this year. There is just no way to give him extended minutes. And Denton mentioning JJ starting again. That is vomit inducing. epic failure.

  6. We wont get Marion but, if we some how did. He would most certainly play PF, not SF. He's better suited for it that Lewis. And it's a position that he has played a lot of over the years. Factor in his rebounding and his bulk...he'd be a PF on our team w/ Lewis at the 3. But to be honest, I think we're **** out of luck. Everyone seems to think we'll be splitting the MLE. So, Pietrus or Redick (shutter) will probably have to start. Unless they want to put Anderson in there at the 4. It's early yet but, everything is falling through. No Sheed, no Bass, and I really doubt we'll re-sign Gortat. This is only the first offer, there will be more and OKC can give him a real attractive offer that would be better than the MLE. The sky isnt quite falling but, I think we as fans should be setting our sights lower when it comes to who we'll fill our roster out with. It seems unlikely that we'll be using the full MLE now. I hope we do use on someone but, it's looking like we wont.

Simple Question - Gortat yes or no

I'll play devil's advocate when it comes to his signability. With Millsap nearly off the market and potentially returning to the Jazz...there is a lot of talk of OKC going after Gortat. Now they can throw a lot of money at him. More than the MLE, and they would do just that. Making it very hard for us to match. I think he's going to land in OKC now to be perfectly honest. Otis and crew have been saying a lot of things that they've flip-flopped on or were not correct to begin with...so, I wouldnt bank on Gortat returning.

Time for Otis to wake up..it

Dont be jealous of the Pistons rushing to make moves. Hell they're rushing to spend money just for the sake of spending it. Gordon and CV arent even all that good. They're both offensive minded players. Gordon is a ball hog who angered all the fans in Chicago with his piss poor shot selection and CV is a big softy on defense, who doesnt play with near the toughness or even heart you would want. Talk about sabtoging your own team. Money not well spent at all. Spending all that money on those two is just ridiculous. seriously. Dumars is a fraud...or he's just lost his magic touch but yeah, terrible moves. They would have been better off sitting on all that cash until next year.

    Kasib Powell drops 46 points w/10 threes(video)

Lets not forget that Jeremy Richardson was a super stud in the D League as well...it doesnt equate to much in the NBA. I've never been too big on Powell, anyway. I'd be atleast a little excited over Richard Hendrix, though.
  10. quote: Originally posted by Bullverine: quote: Originally posted by New Guy:Probably New Orleans because, that is where he is from and his family is. That's what I've been hearing as well. New Orleans also is expected to make a run at Gortat, as well. New Orleans has the highest payroll in the NBA, they can't afford bass and gortat They are trying to move Chandler. But it's more likely that they get one or the other, anyway. I think Bass will end up being their man. With Gortat ending up in Houston or Sacramento.
  11. You cant liken Gortat to Okur. Okur was always seen as a potential offensive threat. He has a game that extends to well past the three point line. Gortat has nothing of the sort. He's a pretty finesse style big man who makes his living with more lay ups than anything, in the paint.
  12. Probably New Orleans because, that is where he is from and his family is. That's what I've been hearing as well. New Orleans also is expected to make a run at Gortat, as well.
  13. I heard he wants to go back home to New Orleans as well. Even if it means backing up West. It sucks, indeed.
  14. Gortat's jump shot is far from consistent and his form is terrible. He shoots it like he shoots his terrible free throws. Leaning back a great deal. The guy is not a PF. You cant have two centers in there with no game outside 4-5 feet, that would not work in today's game. And both would fight over the paint on defense. I dont even know why we're dicussing it, though. Because, he wont be back. The chances are minimal at best. Centers are in high demand, so someone will pay a great deal to get him. Otis keeps repeating the point that we wont match if it gets upwards of $5 million...some say only $4 million. Well some team will offer the full MLE so, there goes that. Gortat has a great opportunity and I dont see why he wouldnt take it. He's ready to branch off and become a starting center elsewhere. He already thinks he's a star and he wants to showcase his talent elsewhere. There is more minutes and money out there for him. And if you want to talk position...his natural position is out there as well, starting jobs, no less. He's history.
  15. You're not going to find someone who is better than Gortat but, that is what you'll have to settle for. Gortat is not a PF. He cannot hit a jumpshot at all, Dwight cannot hit a jump shot...at all. It doesnt work. Gortat would have to play out of the pain frequently on defense. That would be terrible. I'm sorry but, he's not a PF. He's a true center. And again, we wont match the full MLE for Gortat, it would make no sense to do so. The Hornets and Kings may even throw some real cash his way. The same could be said for Brandon Bass who New Orleans loves. They want to bring him back home and may open the wallet to do so.
  16. If you dont get Bass or Wallace. Lewis will have to stay at the 4. Or you're starting a rather green, Anderson there. That's just how it is, there isn't a lot of big man talent out there. Especially if you split the MLE. Younger options would include guys like Frye, Diogu, and Soloman Jones, among others but, they still have some upside, atleast. It will be interesting to see what Mcdyess commands. He could be a possibility if he'd take a portion of the MLE.
  17. Gortat cant play with Howard. They dont compliment eachother at all. They were both standing in the paint, bumping into eachother just about. Neither has a jump shot and Gortat away from the basekt on defense? eww. There was a reason we didnt go to this lineup often...it's because, it's not all that good. Complete mess on the offensive end. Discombobulated. Gortat is a center, through and through. And centers who show just a hint of talent, get over paid in this league. It's hard to find a talented center. Gortat will for sure get the full MLE at the least and there is just no way we'll match that, for a guy that we wouldn't even be able to get many more minutes than last year. It's not even a wise investment. That's a lot to pay for what would be no more than a backup.

Magic may not afford Big Man(Denton)

Dont get me wrong...I still want Bass. I'm not liking a whole lot of the lower tier guys. I'd agree that the VC trade would pretty much be a failure if we fail to add a starting PF. And we wont find one if we split the MLE. So yeah... hopefully things work out here.

Ronnie Price could be had...he's atleast a decent PG. Carney would be alright, he's really not all that good but, he could fill it up every now and then. He still has potential but, he will never be as good as people thought he would be prior to the draft. Plays two positions. Cant defend either position, though. I remember Diogu's last few games of the season well...he straight beasted. haha. But that is not to be expected, he could score a bit, though. He doesnt use the jumper frequently. The guy is a terrible defender in most cases, though and he's foul prone. Worth a look...atleast.

Obvoiusly he has a plan of what to do, he is a fricken GM. in 8 days itl all be right. We'd obviously add bigs regardless but, instead of names like Bass or Wallace. You may see names like Frye, Gooden, Hunter, Rasho, Jones, Singelton, May, Hollins, etc. I'd rather not waste my time with any of those players. lol. Neither would I but, that's what is to be expected if you split the MLE.

He'll be a decent role player this year and maybe a decent starter one day but, I wouldnt get that excited about him. He was a nice addition at least, I'll put it that way. If he turns out to be anything like Murphy, then we got a steal. The kid average close to 8 points and 5 rebounds a game, while only playing 21 minutes per game. That's pretty good numbers for a rookie. I wouldnt disagree but, I'm not too sure he'd ever live up to that. Again, a nice addition but, he sure has a lot of work to do. He shot every chance he got last year. Not a great percentage either. Lets just hope he's not just another Brian Cook, who does have a similar skill set to, actually. I think he'll end up being decent, myself. But while he plays like Murphy at times, I dont think he'll ever be as good as him.

Gortat is gone. We wont match the MLE and he's surely going to get that...atleast. And he's not stupid, he's being offered starting gigs, elsewhere.

Here's hoping former NBDL beast, Richard Hendrix, blows up on our summer league team and impresses enough to make the squad. He would just be a body but, one less roster spot to worry about. You couldnt count on him to play very minutes, though. But he has intriuging potential still.
