    2021 NBA Draft Thread

Orlando’s remaining schedule is absolutely brutal. Minnesota being so bad makes no sense at all, given their individual talent level. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start winning enough to get out of the basement...Detroit and Cleveland seem like the two obvious threats for the top pick. OKC has SGA but they’re a weak squad, Kings probably have too much talent to finish with a worse record than Orlando, and the same can be said about the dumpster fire that is Houston. anything outside of the top 5, would be a disappointment in my eyes for Orlando. And Orlando really needs to come away with one of these elite level prospects...and I’m hoping for either Cunningham, Green, or Kuminga. I’ll be pretty livid if Orlando picks 6 again and misses out on the top tier talent there. Things get a little hazy after the top 5 guys.

I just desperately want a top 3 pick. This is the year to be up there, it’s absolutely loaded in the top 5-6 spots. Im all in on Cunningham, Kuminga, or Green. Suggs is obviously a helluva talent too, but could clash with Fultz as a lead guard. And I would like to still see what Fultz could do as the lead point. Although Cunningham would also dominate the ball quite a bit, if he was the pick....just too good of a talent to pass on. Green is the obvious fit as a Jaylen Brown ceiling 2 guard, that could potentially become a premier scorer. and Kuminga would be that unicorn-ish 3/4 that could play alongside Isaac and hopefully be everything this fan base ever wanted Gordon to be and more. hate to root against your own team....but I’ll take those Ls for the betterment of the teams future.

Orlando needs to acquire as much as youthful potential as possible and just embrace the rebuild. Orlando’s depth and athleticism compared to league standards is horrendous. You look at any bench in the league, and they at least have guys with “potential”. Orlando has a bunch of cast off role players, and G league quality talent on the bench. The whole roster is just a poorly conceived mess.

And I gotta comment on any deal involving Middleton. Do you even realize just how good Middleton is? He’s also indispensable. He’s a franchise cog along with Giannis. Orlando doesn’t even have close to the pieces to even make a competent offer. He’s an extremely efficient all-stat 2 guard....yeah Milwaukee is in no rush to get rid of him. Dude averages like 21, 6, and 6 a night with extremely high shooting percentages and good to great defense every night. He’s a star and has been one for the last couple of seasons. That’s a pipe dream acquisition.

Aaron Gordon is not seen league wide as a super attractive trade chip. He’s a glorified super athletic role player. Orlando needs to take what they can get here...and if that means netting young players with potential, than I’m all for it. Minnesota has a surplus of it. As for Fournier...who knows? I’ve been over him for years, but he’s another guy who doesn’t seem to be held in super high regard league wide. I really just see Orlando sitting on their hands with him, which is ridiculous...but it’s hard to have faith in this front office.

Malik Beasley is seen as a key cog for the twolves and they’ve shown nothing but patience with his off the court idiocy. Yall need to start looking at the second level down...Minnesota’s picks are too valuable and would be super lottery protected. The twolves have a number of intriguing prospects that Orlando could net in return, which could aid in Orlando’s rebuild. Culver being included would be a no brainer....he hasn’t been any good, but a former top 6 pick desperately in need of a fresh start, Josh Okogi is an Uber athletic wing who can shoot and defend, and you’d have to try and pry away McDaniels...who is an absolute gem, who is starting to get a lot of recognition as a player with big time potential. They also have Vanderbilt as well....there’s obtainable young talent there. You’d just have to add contract filler to make it work. But Orlando getting back a couple youthful prospects would be the most likely outcome.

Put me in the minority...with Vooch. Honestly, I was never the biggest fan, but No one currently on the roster has shown enough to become the next offensive catalyst if he departed. And in reality, Bamba is green and 20, so Vooch being ahead of him for several more years isn’t really a horrible thing. The team responded extremely well to Clifford in year one. To think there won’t be growth going forward is absurd. The team played competitive basketball all year and was one of the hottest teams to close the season. So saving face (re-signing Vooch/Ross) to currently compete, while developing the likes of Fultz, Isaac, Gordon, and Bamba doesn’t sound bad...it sounds like an absolute no brainer. People quickly forget how Orlando Played down the stretch or post all-star break, with the same roster makeup we will have. And Vooch sucked hard in the playoffs, agreed...but damn...did anyone think we would even Be there when the season started? There were substantial strides that were made and we lost to a team that went on to win the title. Our defieciences were apparent against a better opponent. Their defense was outstanding and Kawhi was unreal. But the playoff experience could be extremely valuable for the coach and our players. The sky is falling attitude is a little much at times around here. Re-signing Vooch was such an obvious and correct call for the fans to be acting so negatively toward this team now. trust me, I’m desperate for backcourt help and can’t stand Fournier, or how he plays...but to chastise an all-star center, who carried the team more than he hurt it, is insanely hilarious. As much as I like the rest of our roster makeup and potential...export Vooch and the offensive offiency would be atrocious. This past team was the best we’ve had in years and trending upward. Such a shame we’re staying the course with the same core. :/ The problem is, a lot of fans seem to think this team has plateaued perhaps, in its current state? And I can’t see how that makes any sense what so ever. The East is still as open as ever, and Philly could be dismantled as well. Orlando could certainly push for a top 4 seed, and continue the progression this team saw a year ago. im not always the biggest optimist, but there is a lot of good things Orlando has going for it. A young athletic team that has immense defensive potential, overachieved for their coach, and steady veteran precense at the G and C positions. Id pump the breaks on jumping ship, because we made an obvious choice in re-signing an All-Star Center

Agreed it really is a pipe dream. Whoever absorbs Wiggins actually has to “absorb” Wiggins. They’re not looking to move Hom to match salaries they need to clear up like almost $30 million for D-Lo. There needs to be a team willing to take on more salary than they give up in a trade. Wolves could get there but they’d probably have to unload Teague somewhere as well to get something done that actually frees them the necessary funds. theres a minimal chance at best that Orlando would be involved at all.

How does trading for Wiggins make any sense? The Wolves need to shed a substantial amount of space to sign D Lo. We’re in no position to help them clear cap.
  10. Dooling was my favorite, bench player by far.

5 most hated to ever put on Blue and White

Doug Christie is a good one, he was useless. Hated Doleac, hated Declerq, hated Monty Williams, hated Abdul-Wahad, hated Gatling, hated Gooden, Humphrey, Hunter, Sasser, Gaines...bleh.
  12. He's terrible and to the well informed fan, he's a joke around the league.
  13. lol. No way in hell we'd get Green. Seriously? Talk about over valuing Gortat on here, Green is one of their franchise players, who they are building around. The guy has a very high ceiling. It would take a helluva lot more than Gortat to get Green. Be real.
  14. New Guy

Hoops reports Gortat is very, very disappointed we matched.

Nobody wants to be Doug Pederson.(pretty much Brett Favre's career back up) I dont know if you've ever played but, why would you actually "relish" at the chance to play behind someone? At 10 minutes per game. And especially, if there was a want and a need for your starting services elsewhere. If I were in his shoes, I'd be pretty pissed too. Yeah he has a ton of money and security now, but no real future on Orlando.
  15. New Guy

VC's expiring contract in Gortat for a Superstar in summer of 2010?

Meh, they didnt make that trade so VC could be a rental. He has a team option at the end of his contract. We'll get two full seasons out of him before we think trade, I'm sure. Even then, a trade is not a certainty.

Hoops reports Gortat is very, very disappointed we matched.

Please. Save that talk right there. The guy is obviously going to be upset. He's been talking about becoming a starter and becoming the star he knows he is, for the longest time. He would certainly be upset. He and his agent asked the Magic not to match. He wanted to start, no one wants to sit on the bench. He'll have to get over that but, I def. believe he isnt too happy right now. Certainly. And he was asked in Orlando if he would be fine going back to Orlando. In front of Orlando media. What do you think he would say? Ask any player, professional or not, if they'd rather start or sit. hmmm. I wonder. I dont know why people are having such a hard time believing that he would actually be a little pissed. Come on now.

    Hypothetical "Would You Rather?"

Maybe if Dwight wasnt such a big whiner/so immature and had a real offensive game. This would be harder. Dont hate on me, you know it's true. haha. Love em but, he has his flaws as well.

    Hypothetical "Would You Rather?"

I love Dwight but, I'd do it. I'm not a homer, Dwight is amazing but, Lebron is a whole other animal.

Hoops reports Gortat is very, very disappointed we matched.

To that quoted post up there...good luck finding 20 minutes per game for Gortat. With Lewis, Bass, and Anderson all expected to play minutes at the 4. Gortat is pretty much screwed when it comes to any additional playing time.

It's not all about money. Everyone wants a chance to shine. I'm sure he really is upset. I mean that's life, tough luck champ, but yeah...I certainly think he is a little pissed off at the moment. He was beyond excited that he was about to go to Dallas and start. Hopefully, this wont effect his play.

Predict the Orlando Magic 2009-10 Lineup

Why bother playing Carter out of position when Pietrus could just start at SF? Carter isnt a very good option at SF and Pietrus is a better and more active rebounder. But anyway, I'd hope that Lewis moves to the 3 and Bass starts at the 4. But w/ plenty of rotations...seeing Lewis move to the 4, frequently. edit...and also, if we did add Barnes. I see no way he'd start over Pietrus. He'd be the 6th man type then, I'm sure. That would be like a slap to Pietrus' face if, you bring in another guy to start over him. Pietrus wants to start, himself. If they wanted to stay w/ the unconventional lineup w/ 2 small forwards..and they add Barnes. I def. think Pietrus gets the nod...especially with that contract, as well.

    Minute Distribution

Alright, so this is an interest topic of discussion. Right now, it's anyones guess of what lineup we go with. Some believe we just slide Bass into the starting lineup and keep everything as is...while others think Peaches will start at SF w/ Lewis at the 4 once again...and then some think Carter will start at SF (terribe idea) and then Redick or Peaches would start at the 2. So yeah, lots of ways to go. I'm hoping Bass starts, myself. Maybe about 30 or close to it...so that would enable use to still play Pietrus in there w/ Lewis at the 4 in nice healthy chunks. Still run, run, run and spread the floor when we feel the need or the matchups are better. But yeah, that brings us to minute distribution. VC gets a lot more playing time than Lee. That right there alone may cut into Pietrus' time. And if we go to double SF lineups that could hurt Anderson's time. Because, Lewis plays 36+ minutes. Any way you cut it, our bench isnt going to get a lot of play or extended time. So, that means we'll have potentially...Pietrus, Redick, Anderson, and Barnes off the bench. All guys who play roughly 20 minutes per or more. And there would just be no way to accomidate all of them. PG Jameer Neslon: 30+ minutes PG Anthony Johnson: 15-18 minutes SG: Vince Carter: 37 minutes SG: J.J. Redick: 17 minutes SG/SF: Mickael Pietrus: 24 minutes (low average) PF: Rashard Lewis: 36 minutes PF: Brandon Bass: 19 minutes PF: Ryan Anderson: 19 minutes C: Dwight Howard: 36 minutes C: Marcin Gortat: 12+ minutes you want to add Barnes, that is 27 minutes last season. These were their averages last year. You certainly expect Bass' minutes to climb considerably. But anyway, with so many minutes tied up into the starters. I dont see how guys like Gortat or Anderson will see more playing time this year. Getting Anderson on the floor would seem like a bit of a chore in itself. But what I'm getting at is there would be no way to get Redick, Pietrus, Anderson, and Gortat the minutes they all covet off the bench. And then Barnes? You guys have any predictions of how the minutes will be spread among our guys? It would definetlly seem like our bench's minutes would take a hit.

    Iverson?

This thread is filled with fail. Iverson said he'd rather retire than come off the bench. He would in no way be happy w/ 20 minutes per. Also vet minimum? Several teams have said they would pay the full MLE for him, over one season. And he doesnt even want to play for such a pay cut but, he will have to. Memphis is prepared to offer such a deal and Miami has expressed interest in the same deal. A pipe dream...and a terrible fit given his needs.
