question:

Since I have stated that I will not buy any merchandise from the Magic or buy any tickets as well. Does that mean I cannot take 4 tickets to tonights game if they are offered to me?

I still havent broken my word. Have I?

Per the Magic Disgruntled Fans Of America in America, it would be ok on the condition you give me an extra ticket.

OK... just some general observations...

One... the Magic didn't do anything that any other sports team has done in recent years... that is, let a regional Fox Sports network contract to cover a portion of their games. Should the Magic doa ny different? I don't think so... but perhaps they could have had a contingency plan in place for sake of the fans.

Two... No where else in the country are these regional FOX sports networks carried in a premium cable package... they are always part of the regular expanded cable package. Why should central Florida be any different? Is Brighthouse jsut trying to make an extra buck at the expense of Magic fans... or even worse, are they trying to set a new precedent that will allow other cable providers (and other regional Brighthouse networks) to move local sports programming to an additional service?

Three... Ultimately it HAS to be in FSN's best interest to be added to the Brighthouse lineup in any way shape or form doesn't it? It doesn't cost FSN anything extra does it? They are already producing the broadcast. Not being included can only hurt them by way of decreased market share, which means they are leaving money on the table by way of cable provider revenues and advertising revenues among others.

I don't blame the Magic for their part in this, it only makes sense that a deal should be finalized and all games would still be available to local Magic fans.

I don't blame FSN because ultimately it has to be in their best interest to be included in the Brighthouse lineup in any way shape or form for broadcasts they are already producing.

THe only one left, is Brighthouse. Why should central florida sports fans be forced to pay extra for local sports programming when this is NOT the programming model set forth for the rest of the nation?

To me it isn't about what I would be willing to pay to see those games, it's about the big picture. I applaud FSN for stickign to their guns and demanding that they be included in the expanded basic lineup. I hope they stick to this point, and I for one am more than willing to make other arrangements to see the games broadcast on FSN until such time as Brighthouse gives in and adds FSN.

I will see as many games as I can in person, at a local sports bar, or at my friends house who has comcast (which provides FSN at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE).

This is basically a hostage situation perpitrated by Brighthouse for one reason and one reason only... because they can.

My solution? Allow other cable companies like Comcast to compete with Brighthouse, not on a contract basis for coverage in an area like it is now, but side by side. Let me be physically able to select which cable provider I want in my home. Unfortunately this is a logistical nightmare, but it would solve this issue.

I could have gone but have to do the my fatherly duties of escorting/safeguarding the kids quest for candy.

Of course I thought I could DVR the game and pick it up around halftime, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

We can convince the greedy tourist industry (except Rosen) and commissioners to spend a half billion to build our team a stadium, but can't see them on TV.

I called brighthouse this morning and the lady basically told me that everything was FSN's fault and I should call them and complain. I told her that I don't write them a check every month for 90$ so what they do is none of my concern...I think the more we keep bothering these people and letting them know how we feel something will get done!

Sorry, I see don't see it being FSN's fault. They bought the rights to Magic games fully expecting fans to do exactly what we are doing right now. Throw a fit until the cable company caves.

Cable tv channels have been doing that since MTV and their "I want my MTV" promotion in the 80's urging fans to call and complain.

If Brighthouse did not carry FSN anywhere else on their basic package they would have a case. But the fact is Orlando is the only region that does NOT have FSN on their basic package.

I also blame the Magic for having no contingency plan and basicly waiting until the eleventh hour to get involved. Now the same fans that faithfully called, emailed and attended meetings to get the commisioners to approve their arena are left out in the cold.

Brighthouse can pass the blame all they want, but we are only demanding what the rest of florida already recieves.

Just talked to Connie and cancelled my service. She knew exactly what I was talking about and said that it was a sore spot with a lot of people. She also said that they are still talking with FSN about things. I'm guessing they are probably going to talk with them with a little more effort with all of these people cancelling in this area. I just talked with another one of my friends and he is doing the same thing I did.

Well, it's game day, and the situation hasn't gotten any better. Thank you Orlando Magic, for shelling out the fans closest to your team!
