I have seen two play by the magic this whole season and it is really getting ridiculous.....

It is like watching a game at the park, no screens, nothing......... It is ridiclous.......

 

Maybe we should try and play that triangle offense.........

Again shooters, who? Turk sick, Bogans benched and really struggling with his shot, who else do you go to?

JJ can hold is own on defense, I have noticed he isnt that bad of a defender......

 

He is quick also can take guys off the dribble

 

I would of much rather seen a lineup of Meer,JJ,Hedo,Darko,Dwight.....

Again, I think you badly underestimate the importance of point guard play. A good one makes everyone look better. Bad point guard play makes everyone look worse. Even a great roster will look bad with a bad point guard and no clear offensive schemes. Poor use of personnel puts players in a situation where they can't succeed, such as when there are no shooters on the floor.

 

You ask where a shooter would come from. I am not imagining that the offense looks much better every time Diener is on the floor. He's also a shooter. Of course, that goes back to our idiot coach who doesn't recognize the obvious even when it bites him in the tush. He refuses to play Diener, so our point guard play costs us yet another game.

Rich, Redick got to play a lot. Especially in the first half. In the second half when our offense bogged down he wasn't as assertive. In the 4th quarter when the Kings were marching to the foul line over and over I don't blame Brian one bit. Redick was not gonna get any calls when he was on defense. If J.J. would have breathed on someone that would have called a foul on him.

 

It's just the way the NBA operates. Having Keyon at shooting guard would have at least given our team a little more respect from the officials defensively. I loved what Redick brought to the game in the first half though.

 

Again, our team has "major" personnel flaws.

I saw the Denton blog, but don't agree with it. You can't get anywhere by blowing up your roster every year or two. The root problems with this team are poor point guard play and poor coaching. And the poor point guard play is mostly due to the poor coaching.

 

This coach could make the Bulls of the 90's look terrible.

Brian has got to stop worrying about feelings, he coaches on feelings, otherwise Grant wouldnt be starting, nor would Battie.....

Totally agree with your assesment of point guard play and yes I'm one of Diener's biggest fans. He is a fantastic shooter.

 

Point one, Diener was not dressed out for the game.

 

Point two and most importantly, his defnse is by far the worst on the team and physically he gets pushed all over the place.

 

Again, he's one of my favorites because he's an over-achiever.

I'm not sure I agree with you about his defense, especially when you compare it to the defense of our other point guards. But even granting that defense isn't his strong suit, there are ways to compensate. Play a zone, for example, with him in there. And we have athletic bigs who can cover for him if he gets beaten off the dribble.

 

Reality is that he helps us win games and the coach won't use him. And so everyone writes about how our roster has major flaws when in reality what's really flawed is our point guard play and our coaching. Our roster really is pretty good.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the roster. No disrespect to your opinion but when Magic beat writer's begin writing about our team's personnel flaws that speaks "volumes" to me. They study the team for a living. It's their job.

 

It's like if I'm going to choose to go to counseling for problems in my marriage I'm not going to go to a person that has no experience.

 

Beat writer's have a lot of experience studying the game and more specifically this team.

None of these guys were saying anything bad about our roster earlier in the year. Now that we're losing, they're just jumping on what seems the obvious bandwagon. These particular guys apparently have no ability to look below the surface.

 

As a physician, I know when someone presents with pain in their abdomen, it doesn't have to be due to a stomach problem. It could be the gallbladder, intestine, kidney, pancreas or even the heart. The seemingly obvious "answer" is often wrong.

 

Do these "analysts" really think blowing up our roster every year or two will bring us success?

Grant was useless? I'm sure anybody on this team would be useless when guarded by Ron Artest.

 

Its a poor shooting night and lack of execution. Signs of a young team.
