EnFuego Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 If I had to guess. Some of these have been said before. Jameer Nelson - Vinnie Johnson - Piston great, not a point guard. Streaky player and the best player OFF THE BENCH for their championship teams. Trevor Ariza - Stacey Augmon - defensive wizard. When he was young he was a slasher. I hope he's better than Stacey but that is who he reminds me most of. JJ Reddick - John Paxson - very good shooter who did many other good things for his team. Darko Milicic - Rik Smits - slowed by bad feet when he was ready to hit his prime. Soft touch, good passer. Dwight Howard - Hakeem Olajuwon, he doen't have Hakeem's killer fake move inside but he is as quick and agile as Hakeem was. Who do they remind you off? And do you think a starting five made up of Hakeem Olajuwon Rik Smits Stacey Augmon John Paxson Vinnie Johnson Would win a championship? I think other pieces would need to be added. Quote

Joker Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I would add my two cents worth.Jameer-T.Hardaway(poorer version),JJ.Redick-S.Kerr,Ariza-Augmon,Milicic-Divac(younger version),Howard-S.Kemp.Sorry but nobody compares to the quickness and footwork Olajuwon had. After all he was a soccer goalie in Nigeria till age 15,16.I just don't see that foowork from Howard,he's more closer to a younger version on S.Kemp with his explosiveness. Undisputed4 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 JJ is like nothing the NBA has ever seen. I would compare JJ to Jeff Hornacek. Quote
The Ghost of John Gabriel Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Jameer compares very well to a poor mans Tim Hardaway. Very similiar builds, styles, and skill sets. Hardaway was simply a more natural PG, particularly on the break. He's not nearly the player off the ball The Microwave was and Vinnie Johnson wasn't very good on the ball at all. Redick's game is almost identical to Reggie Miller's. If JJ were 6'7", they would be mirror images of each other. Ariza, hmmm. Not Stacy Augmon however. The players I would naturally compare Ariza too had good post up games, better outside shots, or weren't nearly as athletic as Ariza. He reminds me or should I say Corey Brewer reminds me a lot of Ariza. I see nbadraft.net compares Brewer to Augmon and I obviously don't agree with that comparision either. Darko is another difficult one because he's a far better defender and shot blocker than most of the players I would compare him too and he's not nearly the offensive player say Kevin McHale was or even defender for that matter. There are actually a lot of similiarities between Darko and Rik Smits. Although Smits was bigger and Darko is a much better athlete. I can't even imagine Smits showing on a pick and roll the way Darko does. I think Dwight compares best to Duncan although he's a better athlete and Duncan is more fundamentally sound. Quote
