Knappy Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I think a lot will disagree especially the Arroyo fans - so no Arroyo fan comments here please (just kidding). In reality though, I think that if Nelson is not signed before the season starts that we'll risk losing him or having to pay a lot more. I think we need to give him a reasonable contract and get him signed. Maybe a contract approaching what TJ Ford got - I think he would probably accept a little less, but I think it would be a mistake to have him play another season and not have him signed. I think we could have another Darko situation and I don't want that to happen. I wanted us to sign Darko before last season. Anyway, I like what is happening. Hopefully we can get Webber and PJ Brown.

richnba Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 If Otis is smart he wont use the prove your worth the money because more chances the nnot they usually do and they usually want more. So Otis dont be an idiot, sign Nelson now.

He will go back to his form the last 22 games the end of 05 - 06 where he averaged over 22pts. a game and shot 53% from the field. He won't average 22 pts. with Rashard, but he may average around 16 pts. and his assists will go up and his to's will go down, just from having a fluid, attacking running offense and his defense will be better because his offense will be better and he'll be more pumped up. That offense of ours killed Nelson last year at the fault of Brian Hill. I think we need to sign him now and not play games - I think we can get a reasonable price, but with the Rashard signing all salaries go up.
jack daniel 999 Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I think Otis is trying to tie -up some loose ends ... Then he will take care of Jameer . They have been talking ... Which is good.

I love you man, but disagree with you on this one. I don't want Otis signing him now. I want Jameer to test free agency. HE AIN"T GOING ANYWHERE. You sound like Lewis' agent.

Gamakis Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I agree with the above, and I agree with Otis. Nelson last season -for whatever reason- was arguably one of the worst starting PG in the league. Not only did TJ had a much better season than Nelson, but his back up (Calderon) did as well. I say don't sign him, and see what he can do. We don't need a starting PG contract for a back-up talent. I don't think we're in danger. We can mach any offer and noone is going to dish huge amounts of money for a 5'10'' PG.

BRich Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 Yep. I agree. After the offseason we just had with our own FA's (namely Darko) - I don't see how this is that disputeable. I don't want to see anybody else we value testing any market. It just doesn't seem to be working for us.
DustinMyselfOff Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I'd rather risk losing him like Darko than overpay him like Rashard. We can't pay him more than he's worth. He wants TJ Ford's money when he hasn't played TJ Ford's game. Don't get me wrong, I think Jameer will be better this season. But how much better? Will Jameer be worth the money, next season, that he's asking for right now? My guess is no. So if you can sign him for what you want to, do. If not, DO NOT OVERPAY!
D-BoFats Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 We need to sign him now, before his value goes WAY up. I know we can match any offer next season, but his performance next season will dictate how much his agent will demand. I don't want another situation like the one we had with Darko.
