barnettej 263 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 At least this is going to be like the 2003 draft where a top 5 pick is going to get you a guy with an all star ceiling Well lets go off that... out of this draft who would be those AS ceiling guys... or just guys who could make the AS given the NBA talent. 1 - Smart 2 - Shabaz 3 - Victor
Tom Ford 9 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 So here is a 2nd round sleeper that I think will turn into a great PG/SG in the NBA. Eric Green, the kid played on a horrible Virginia Tech team and won ACC Player of the Year. Green as a freshmen was only averaging 2 points a game and by Senior year he finished with 25ppg. Shot about 48% on FG's and 3 assists per game(granted his team was bad so you can easily throw in 2-3 more assists per game). The kid has absolutely blazing speed and gets to the hoop while scoring 60% of the time in transition. The kid has handles and can stop and pop from about anywhere. If he is available when we come to pick in the 2nd round and we don't get a PG with our lotto pick I wouldn't mind taking him. Here is his Draft Express video as well Eric Green Draft Express ohh and he is 6'3 with a 6'6 wingspan..so an upgrade in height over Jameer.

Defensive specialist that have mediocre at best offense DO NOT make all star games. Smart possibly and Shabaz I suppose due to the fact that he will have no problem firing up 25 shots a game. But Victor? Absolutely not.

I question his "true" PG mentality though. I know he was on a bad team but didn't seem interested at all in creating for others or getting others invovled in the offense. Not to say that couldn't be fixed at the next level just throwing some thoughts out there.
HeHateMe 697 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 I really hope we don't win the lottery. Number 1 is the only place I wouldn't feel comfortable picking. Why? I would be fine having my choice of Noel/Smart/McLemore and I trust that henny would have no issues making that decision. Plus, it's always cool having the number 1 pick. I'd love it. Tom Ford 9 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 I really like him. I question his "true" PG mentality though. I know he was on a bad team but didn't seem interested at all in creating for others or getting others invovled in the offense. Not to say that couldn't be fixed at the next level just throwing some thoughts out there. I watched a lot of the Hookie's game being a huge fan of all their sports and Green never really had any help all year, he tried to get other players involved but it was not working at all. He had some of most inconsistent players around him. The closest teammate to Green's PPG was Jarell Eddie and that was 12.5 but with only a 39% FG percentage compared to 47% FG to Green's after that the closest player was 8.9 PPG. I can see how you are skeptical of his true PG mentality but to be honest he had carry the team the whole year. In his senior season Green had 801 total points the next closest player was again Eddie with 393, that's a huge gap. Oh and for all you Marcus Smart lovers Eric Green put up 28 points and 7 boards shooting 6-10, 4-7 from the 3 and 12-13 from the charity stripe. Smart only had 18 and 11 boards shooting 5-15, 1-4 from the 3 and 7-9 from the charity stripe against arguably one of the worst Div 1 basketball teams. So if you want to compare the two Green with a late 2nd round pick could be just as good as Smart. No I am not saying Green is better I am just saying for what its worth there is no way we should take Smart with a top 5 pick when we might be able to steal Green in the 2nd. The Neighborhood Bully 266 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 this is a bigger conspiracy than the one to get the lakers into the playoffs Apparently you're not the only one holding this opinion. http://www.blazersed...-conspiracy-nba And this from Bill Ingram's chat. I’ll take a few minutes to read that later. Skimmed it for now. Sometimes facts can be massaged to prove a certain point, but let’s remember that the NBA is a business. To the fans it’s a game, but to everyone involved in the game it is a business first. If Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol and even a sidelined Kobe Bryant miss the playoffs it will be TERRIBLE for the NBA. Casual fans can’t tell you more than 2 starters in Utah . . .maybe not more than one. Those same fans can probably name all five starters for the Lakers, tell you who’s to blame for their season, and they have at least one Kobe jersey in their closet. <br style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; ">Read more at http://www.hoopsworl...2PLX3QbcPjJI.99 /quote]

HeHateMe 697 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 replace smart with burke. Ugh no. Burke screams mediocre PG at best. I'm in no way sold on Smart but he easily has the higher ceiling of the two. Shoot for the stars in a draft class like this.
