And if we signed and traded for somebody after waiving him we'd be, rough math, (assuming we stretch Isaac over the 7 years thing that's been written about) about 5.5mil under the first apron which we'd be hard capped at (assuming comparable salary in and out on the sign and trade). Assuming you only traded 1 player in the sign and trade that'd leave us with 11 filled roster spots (assuming keeping Cain since his salary is so low replacing him could end up costing you more) meaning you'd need to add 3 players with 5.5 mil, which by my math isn't actually enough to sign 2 vet minimum players and a rookie minimum. So you'd likely need to sign multiple rookie minimum deals. So you wouldn't be able to use the TPMLE or add any other free agents. And you'd likely only be able to bring back one of Mo Wagner or Jevon Carter on the vet minimum (if that was something you wanted to do). Quote

Given Mark Williams in particular is a major injury risk I'm not taking that bet with him, and since we're built on playing switchable defense I don't really see his fit anyway. Quote

I loved the presser. He’s gonna eat Paolo alive. Same with WCJ. He mentioned consistency several times, and his style is extremely direct. Meanwhile, guys like Franz and AB will love him. Quote

It's essentially guys who can shoot but don't play defense, guys who play defense and are limited offensively and former first round reclamation projects. I guess Shamet is the pick of the bunch and then after that maybe Fonteccio? EDIT: maybe that's just recency bias seeing Shamet play in the finals though and it'd be better to find our own Shamet. If Paolo, after that unconvincing season he had (in which sometimes looked like playing against the coach or with no full effort anyway) is unable to sustain the pressure of the new coach, it could possibly a sign that he's not the right N1 option to win it all. And if they clash, hope it's not too evident and we'll be able to trade him for another top player. If he's able to get the best from him, we'll hopefully see the real value of him and all the team, without having another depressing season like the last one. Quote

Sweeney talked a lot about knowing the fundamentals, consistency, invisible plays, etc. On paper one would think Suggs would be his type of guy. For me, I’m not convinced Suggs can (or is willing to) play under control or has a good BBIQ. Thus, time will tell. I’m personally crossing my fingers for a Jrue or Kyrie trade, as PG has been our achilles heel for years. Quote
