fan for too long 2 Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Also move on from Vooch. He has NEVER been the same player he was, before he got his nose broken. NOT a Winning player. Quote

Suggs and AB would be moved for an actual point guard, if possible this off-season. But if not, both will be gone in a year. Once again IF this staff is competent. Yes, I agree that at least one of these cats needs to be moved for an actual PG. Quote
CTMagicUK Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 https://youtu.be/yFyTe40lwKg?feature=shared Here's a coaching course taught by Sweeney a few years ago specifically relating to offense. Honestly a lot of this stuff is relatively simple that most NBA teams do, spacing to the corners in transition, looking for early offense etc. But it definitely gives you an idea of what he values and I think the thing I'm most interested in is how this pertains to Paolo as a lot of his stuff emphasises making decisions quickly. Driving quickly, giving the ball up quickly. Under Mose, whether that was Mose or Paolo or a bit of both, it was a lot of catch and hold and jab and call for a screen, and then re-screen etc etc and it was just all slow. Quote
The Neighborhood Bully Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 According to Spotrac’s Keith Smith, who recently joined The Sixth Man Show to talk about Orlando's financial situation, there is a way the Magic could benefit by waiving him. "Even though only $8 million of it is guaranteed, for this upcoming season, those other two years count towards the wave and stretch portion," Smith said. "What they could do is waive him, stretch that over a seven-year period, and then they would have a hit of about $1.1 million on the books for each of the next seven years. Is it ideal? No, but it's $1.1 million. They can work around it fairly easily. "Then what that would do, for the Magic, is that would take them from being, like I said, about $3.6 million under that second apron, that would take them to about, I'm just doing the math on the fly, about $18 million under the second apron," Smith added. Now you've got all kinds of second apron room, and about $5.3 million under the first apron. They would still be over the luxury tax, but that at least puts them in a range of, we're in a much better place now, where we can then do some stuff." Sounds like waiving and stretching JI is a no-brainer unless a more advantageous way to use his salary in a trade presents itself. Quote

Yea I think I've been working under the idea that he gets waived and stretched all off-season to date. At this point 1.1mil is a rounding error in the NBA, it's actually less than you could pay an undrafted free agent minimum salary. Quote

The Monk idea is interesting but it’s probably far fetched. Quote

He’d be an upgrade over Goga, Mo, and Penda. Quote

Only the portion of the contract that is guaranteed counts as outgoing salary for a trade. So currently Isaac's salary counts as 8m outgoing in a trade and therefore cannot match salary for Malik Monk or Bobby Portis. (Also it could never match salary for Monk even if we fully guaranteed it) Quote

I love what Portis would bring to the team, but I think they could get a better return that what we could give them. I like the Isiah Joe trade since it appears OKC is looking to dump him and save a few bucks. He's a career 41% from 3. Quote Sharpshooter Isaiah Joe looms as a prime candidate to be dumped or moved due to his hefty $11 million cap hit for next season. His direct replacement is clearly Jared McCain, who has been an absolute revelation for the organization since arriving in a blockbuster move at the trade deadline. The postseason usage rates between the two sharpshooters tell the entire story of where the coaching staff is leaning. Joe was relegated to a minor bit-part role during the playoffs, averaging a meager 11 minutes per game across 13 appearances. Meanwhile, McCain quickly earned the coaching staff’s trust, even picking up two crucial playoff starts when Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell missed time with nagging minor injuries. McCain thrived under the bright lights, turning heads with a spectacular 24-point performance in Game 1 against San Antonio and an efficient 18-point night against the Lakers. https://lastwordonsports.com/basketball/2026/06/08/thunder-could-activate/ Quote

You know what, that's fair. My bad id not considered that theoretically trades could be happening right now. Quote
