The NIL era is flipping the NBA Draft on its head.

Only 71 players entered the 2026 NBA Draft, per the NBA. Down from 106 last year and a peak of 363 in 2021.

That's the lowest early-entrant total since 2003.

College basketball stars are staying in school, overwhelmingly.

NIL era has killed the NFL Draft, too. It's a big drop off by day 3 of draft. You pretty much have a bunch of guy with undrafted free agent grades being push up the board. It's really bad.

Case in point, Carson Beck made $5 million dollars at Miami last season. His rookies contract as a third round pick will start in the range of $5.3 million to $5.7 million, with a first-year salary around $1.2 million.

Also, Thomas Haugh will make $8 million next season at UF, which would take him 2 years to make in the NBA on a rookie contract. He turns 23 in a couple of months, so he'll be 24 when he enters the draft.

I agree. The only thing the nba and nfl can do now is to make more guaranteed contracts in later rounds. There should be a cap on sizes of college contracts. Right now it’s the Wild West.

Thank gosh they don’t have unlimited college eligibility.  Ultimately you should have the same number coming out as their eligibility ends. They may just be a couple years older.

The Magic expressed interest in trading for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo before the trade deadline, league sources told HoopsHype.

Antetokounmpo was originally drafted 15th overall in 2013 by current Magic senior advisor John Hammond. Magic president Jeff Weltman and Hammond have always been enamored with length and size in building their teams through the years, which is one of Antetokounmpo’s many strong suits.

Well we’ve now seen that this Paolo is in there again. Consequently, I don’t think we entertain trading him this summer. Suggs may be a different story.

Yeah I’m off the Paolo for Giannis trade now lol

He went to a level last night that very few can get. I don’t think even Franz can do what he did last night

Suggs is going the opposite direction. I am ready to trade him after watching this series.

Curious if we could trade Suggs for Jrue or a salary dump to Brooklyn for a pick.

We have to do something with him. He has been an idiot in this series. I had such high hopes when we drafted him lol

Sadly i think Portland wants at least one year with Dame and Jrue playing. However i cannot see how they make that team work with all those guards so why not take a shot. I'd rather overpay for 2 years of Jrue's leadership then whatever Jalen "Knucklehead" Suggs give us.

Y'all have hopes and dreams still?

Hard to be positive after this series, but I would echo others in the hope that there’s a coaching change.  I think it’s pretty clear at this point that Mosley has taken the team as far as he can.  I also hope the change comes quickly so there is certainty about it over most of the offseason.
