I agree. And there is no player today (non point guard) who can play that position like Lebron. The Magic is a totally different team than Lebron and the Lakers. Lebron has been like a second coach for them (not technically). But I am pretty sure he has some input into how the team plays. The Magic players do not have that kind of input in game plans. Quote

We don’t need a Penny or Magic just a serviceable pg who you can throw into the starting lineup when needed. How do the Pacers have 3 pg’s that can all run that offense and we struggle to find one? San Antonio is about to have the same problem if they draft Dylan Harper with Fox and Castle already there. Those are the types of teams we need to try and trade with. Quote

If you really paid attention as I did, I witnessed a whole different style of play during the playoffs as opposed to the regular season. It has been fast paced. Players and ball movement was a sight to behold. It has been amazing the way the ball has moved around and touching so many players hands until they found an open man. Players did not just stand in the corner. I saw players run to the corner in a catch and shoot. They didn't just stand there watching iso from a teammate. I don't know how to describe it. It has been so much fun to watch. Since we have added a 3 pt. shooter in "you know who", he needs to help spread the floor like Ryan Anderson, Dennis Scott, Rashard Lewis did for the Magic. We need a Penny Hardaway, who was a highly skilled point guard known for his scoring and playmaking to run the show just like my Magic Johnson. That's my 2 cents. TMF you need to really study Banes game more if you’re comparing him to those players. The only thing they have in common is they can shoot. Bane is a pick and roll playmaker. He plays closer to our guy Steph than he does those forwards. Watch two minutes of this video and you will see how different he is to those standstill catch and shoot forwards. My point is Bane doesn’t need to just be set up. He creates for himself and more importantly for others. I stand by my Boston’s backcourt and wing comparison. We have four playmakers that are as good or better at distributing than Holiday, White, Taytum and Brown. Quote
MagicMan1979 Posted June 19, 2025 Report Posted June 19, 2025 Stole this from Reddit but thought this was interesting for all the PG Garland talk. We got a guy who compares well offensively is much better defensively and most importantly kept our own defensive stud in Suggs. Weltman knocked it out of the park! Getting a backup PG off the bench like Chris Paul or Tyus Jones wouldn’t be the worst thing admittedly. But our core four looks awesome! Quote
jmmagicfan Posted June 19, 2025 Report Posted June 19, 2025 I think our core is going to be good together, but if we don’t have any cohesive team offense, I don’t know how much any single player can improve our team. I like our pieces, but still have doubts about our coaching. Quote
Jay Magic Posted June 19, 2025 Report Posted June 19, 2025 Some people will still have doubts when we win the championship too hahahaha 1 Quote
CTMagicUK Posted June 19, 2025 Report Posted June 19, 2025 Malcolm Brogdon for the vet minimum or maybe the BAE might be a move to make at PG. It's a bit risky considering his injury history and he was bad last year in Washington (hence why he might be gettable for the vet minimum) but he's got proven track record as an NBA PG who can shoot and play off of a star forward. Yeah it goes hand in hand gotta have the personnel to be able to execute the offensive plays and a coach willing to call them. Quote
CTMagicUK Posted June 19, 2025 Report Posted June 19, 2025 Magic currently have 3 roster spots. 4 if they decline the Mo Wagner team option. I'd expect the first 2 of the 3 to be guards given we've lost 4 in acquiring Bane. If Mo Wagner is declined the roster spot he vacates will definitely be a big. Do we think Trevelin Queen could get that last spot? His shooting percentages were atrocious last season but he always gave effort, played good defense and flashed some ball handling, passing and shooting at various points he just played a lot with incomplete, very injured teams or in garbage time. The Ringer Top 100 22. Paolo Banchero 37. Franz Wagner 47. Desmond Bane 62. Jalen Suggs That looks like a pretty good ranking to me. The Q is how the rating of our gang of 4 compares to some of the teams considered tears 1 or 2? Quote
