I have doubts about WCJ, and Williams also has his issues. I’d just bet on him figuring it out with our players coach. Can we go CHA get WCJ+ Jett Howard ORL get Williams+ Josh Green ?? Id absolutely do this. Especially with Josh Green giving this team tons of energy of the bench. Quote

Jrue Holiday and Derrick White didn’t even average 5 assists per game this season. We have four ball handlers and distributors in Paolo, Franz, Bane, and Suggs. I don’t think there will be a problem with smart passing. Bane solves so many problems with his game his playmaking ability being nearly as important as his volume three point shooting for The Magic. If people want a true point guard they should be a bench player. No way Suggs or Bane are coming out of that starting line up. Okay, let's revisit your post at training camp and preseason 2025. Quote
All Eyes On Me Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 Mark Williams health history with our inability to keep players healthy would scare the hell out of me Quote

I feel very confident that’s the starting backcourt. I think you are underestimating a healthy Suggs. But I’m much higher on him. I also believe in Black to play one I of the guard positions. I wouldn’t mind a PG off the bench via free agency or trade though. Quote
MagicMan1979 Posted June 18, 2025 Report Posted June 18, 2025 I thought it would interesting for everyone to see how The National Media ranks our core four. The Ringer Top 100 22. Paolo Banchero 37. Franz Wagner 47. Desmond Bane 62. Jalen Suggs That looks like a pretty good ranking to me. 1 Quote

Dude comes into the league and gets labeled a "SG" and we all have to pretend he can't handle the ball and make plays for others because of some archaic archetypes? Do we think the 5 assists a game he averaged last year just fell into his lap? Ja Morant did all the ball handling and then at the last minute he passed to Bane who then passed it to someone else for the assist? What would getting a new PG in do for our offense? Please explain?? Quote 11 hours ago, OnlyFranz said: I guess you don’t know what a pg’s role is on a team because we haven’t had a real one in decades. I already outlined in my previous post on how having a pg would open up the offense. Let’s recap: Having someone who can initiate the offense and get the ball to all those guys you just mentioned above in places where they are comfortable scoring from is the easiest way to fix our offensive lulls during games. We don’t post up Paolo nearly enough because he’s busy trying to set up our offense and Franz doesn’t get easy shots because he’s always trying to create for himself. Imagine how much better he would be offensively and defensively if he didn’t have to exert so much energy trying to play Point forward the whole game, same could be said about Paolo. That’s just a couple of examples on how having a traditional pg would make sense for this team. If AB can turn in to that then great but I wouldn’t bet my entire season on it. So I believe getting at least a serviceable pg would just be good business practice. We don’t need them to start we just need them to be in the 2nd unit to help Suggs and Bane when one of them goes to the bench or if an injury occurs. Not sure where the harm in that is. +1000. Like fan for too long2, I cannot activate the upvote. I'm sorry to quote OnlyFranz lengthy post, but everything he said in my opinion is spot on. Quote 9 hrs. ago fan for too long 2 said: a point guard is more than just a distributor he is the floor leader. Gets everyone in their correct spot, is vocal, and gets easier opportunities for his teammates. And it doesn’t even have to be a point guard per se. Jordan, Lebron, being two examples. We still don’t have that player. To your point, Fan, 99% of current nba teams do not have a non-point guard who can do the things you mentioned. Aging Lebron is the only non-point guard today that fits into that category. Quote
TrueMagicFan07 Posted June 19, 2025 Report Posted June 19, 2025 Raise your hand if you have been watching the playoffs. If you really paid attention as I did, I witnessed a whole different style of play during the playoffs as opposed to the regular season. It has been fast paced. Players and ball movement was a sight to behold. It has been amazing the way the ball has moved around and touching so many players hands until they found an open man. Players did not just stand in the corner. I saw players run to the corner in a catch and shoot. They didn't just stand there watching iso from a teammate. I don't know how to describe it. It has been so much fun to watch. Since we have added a 3 pt. shooter in "you know who", he needs to help spread the floor like Ryan Anderson, Dennis Scott, Rashard Lewis did for the Magic. We need a Penny Hardaway, who was a highly skilled point guard known for his scoring and playmaking to run the show just like my Magic Johnson. That's my 2 cents. Quote
CTMagicUK Posted June 19, 2025 Report Posted June 19, 2025 I'm sure the Magic would love to add a Penny Hardaway or a Magic Johnson but that player is not out there. 1 1 Quote
