old quote from Kobe!! He’s absolutely right and we whiteness the same problem.

Coach also gonna need to step up his game and find a way to implement an offensive playbook. These players need to learn how to execute.

one quick fix. We lack all the basic cut concepts:

1) 45 Cut
2) Baseline Cut (Marion Cut)
3) Danilovic Cut (By Design)
4) Paint Touch Cut
5) Maggette Cut (Chop Cut)

We have some great talent that could thrive with these cuts

In part is coaching staff, in part is also what I was writing in the previous page: we have a lot of size and phisicality, and that's evident in the way we defend. But we lack smart guys that are able to make the right reads and choices when needed, the connectors between our stars, as our IQ is not at the same level of our size.

The result is being really static as a team and rely too much in isolation basket. Two of the best players in the league, Nikola and Luka, are not really special on the phisical side, but they're great for their vision and IQ. It's obviously hard to find players of those level, but you can find rotation ones that fit the profile and makes you better when real basket, playoff one, is on.

Agree, but cutting has to do with the players willing to read what’s going on and coaching that teaches these reads.

Franz is an elite cutter. He showed this in his rookie season. Yet now he’s ballwatching Paolo for the majority.

TDS was a great cutter in college. Yet he ball watches. In theory, Gary Harris could be a great cutter, in theory KCP is a great cutter. WCJ has all the tools to cut, yet he ballwatches and camps out at the 3 point line.

I agree we lack the bball iq ballhandlers. But at the same time we lost that willingness to cut

That happens when your coached to stand and watch. This is all on Mosely.

I believe it’s by design. Coach wants us to clear out for Paolo and Franz and let themis to work.

I thought we were cooked once Paolo and Franz went down. But yet we found a way to win games. We were suddenly cutting and we on this board thought this would be great once Paolo and Franz came back.
But what happened was the opposite. We just went back to ball watching.

Oh, I agree it is by the coaches design, and it’s moronic. F and P are very good with the ball but not on an elite level aka Luka or Jokic.

Ball and player movement should be the top priority. When players are not involved on offense disengages them on the floor. Most players would like to have meaningful touches. It gets them involved and focused. Without it, well you see what happens.

As a new offseason beckons, another Trail Blazer has been increasingly projected as an Orlando target: Lillard’s former Blazers backcourt mate Anfernee Simons. The 25-year-old is an Orlando native who would certainly blend in nicely from a timeline perspective alongside Banchero (22) and Wagner (23). 10 hours ago – via marcstein.substack.com

“It would have been nice,” Caldwell-Pope told The Stein Line of Dallas’ interest. “That was the deal that Denver had on the table for me. But they didn’t want to do it.” “I don’t think they came back with a [counter offer to the Mavericks],” Caldwell-Pope continued. “So we [were] on to the next. We can’t waste time in free agency. It goes quick. It’s hard. So just making my decision as soon as possible … it’s important.” - via marcstein.substack.com

This is going to be interesting. Do we add an offensive minded assistant coach? Will coach let that happen? It’s not that easy of a question. You see what happened to Taylor Jenkins. Imo he only got fired because they had already hired a talented, offensive genius  assistant in Iisola.

Mir takes real confidence to admit you need help.

If we hire an assistant coach i’d adjust my off season strategy as a coach GM. Then i’d be looking for players that can create, cut and can handle the ball.

If we stay with Mosley only, i’m not confident in offensive changes and i’d be looking for players who can get their own

Interesting.

Wait, so KCP’s preferred destination was Dallas via a sign and trade? And when that fell through he settled with coming here? That explains a lot actually

He's probably thanking his lucky stars ever since Luka got traded.
