CTMagicUK Posted May 10 Report Posted May 10 I've warmed on Anfernee Simons quite considerably since last summer for a number of reasons: He's an expiring contract who Portland clearly seems to have a vested interest in moving on from and going with Scoot and Sharpe so he shouldn't cost a lot in assets to acquire. Along the lines of the above, he should be reasonable to extend. Not cheap but also not near max money or anything. Even if his defense proves too bad to be a starter I think he's an incredibly exciting as a 6th man bucket getter at least in the regular season. Cole Anthony but actually consistently good essentially. I saw some stat somewhere or other that he was actually one of the most blitzed pick and roll players in the whole league. He wouldn't see that look nearly as often if he was running pick and roll with Paolo. Paolo would absolutely kill in the short roll game with a numbers advantage. Quote
Soul Bro Posted May 10 Author Report Posted May 10 Reading that Denver may not be able to keep Christian Braun long-term. I'd love that guy in Orlando. Quote
The Neighborhood Bully Posted May 11 Report Posted May 11 Quote The Orlando Magic find themselves at a critical juncture this offseason, facing the urgent need to bolster their offensive capabilities. With the team ranked near the bottom of the league in scoring during the last regular season, the pressure is mounting to find a reliable scorer who can complement the talents of emerging stars Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner. As the Magic navigate the complexities of the offseason, one name has emerged as a potential game-changer: Cam Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets. Johnson, who averaged 18.8 points per game and shot an impressive 39 percent from beyond the arc over 57 games last season, represents a tantalizing opportunity for the Magic. His ability to stretch the floor and provide consistent scoring could be the antidote to Orlando’s perimeter woes. The Magic’s struggles from long range have been well-documented, and adding a sharpshooter like Johnson could significantly enhance their offensive dynamics. Despite financial constraints limiting the Magic’s options in free agency, the organization possesses valuable assets that could facilitate a trade. A potential deal involving Johnson could see the Magic part with Jonathan Isaac, Caleb Houstan, and the 25th pick in this year’s draft. This package could appeal to the Nets, who are in the midst of a rebuilding phase. The inclusion of a promising prospect like Houstan, along with a first-round pick, could help Brooklyn reshape its roster while gaining depth with Isaac, who managed to play 71 games last season—a noteworthy achievement considering his history of injuries. While Johnson’s scoring prowess is undeniable, concerns about his injury history linger. Throughout his career, he has only surpassed 60 games played twice, raising questions about his durability. For a Magic team that has already faced challenges with injuries to key players, this aspect of Johnson’s profile cannot be overlooked. However, when healthy, Johnson has proven to be a valuable asset, capable of transforming an offense that has struggled to find its rhythm. https://fadeawayworld.net/nba-trade-rumors/8-blockbuster-trades-that-could-happen-in-2025-offseason I find it hard to believe Isaac, Houston, and #25 is all it would take to get Johnson 1 Quote

I get the low price low risk idea, but it's another SG (and a short one, something that FO doesn't like a lot) and we already have Suggs and KCP here. That move would condemn us to the Suggs in PG position error another season at least, as I highly doubt that Portland would be interested in taking KCP salary back. Quote

Then we get another Pg via free agency or trade and we will be quite dangerous next year. Quote

Simons has played half his NBA minutes at PG, he's a better ball handler, pick and roll creator and pull up shooter than anyone currently on the roster. He's a combo guard, and the part of my post you didn't clip specifically mentioned he could be the 6th man which wouldn't condemn us to any fixed starting 5. Quote

I think there will be a lot of movement this offseason in general. Houston or OKC look best placed for Giannis. Lots of assets, young playoff teams, obvious fits in the front court. I don't think Giannis fits at all here fwiw even though I guess you'd have to try if he was open to coming here and playing the 5 full time. Quote
CTMagicUK Posted May 12 Report Posted May 12 Lots of chatter that Austin Reaves is basically 100% getting traded given his redundancy with Luka. Quote
