Soul Bro Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 Alright, Magic fans! Please post what you'd like our team to do this off-season here. Quote
Soul Bro Posted May 1 Author Report Posted May 1 Given our site is having trouble moving posts, here are some discussions from another thread. From MagicMan1979: Orlando Magic Bucks receive: Franz Wagner, Jonathan Isaac, Jett Howard, and Orlando’s first-round picks in 2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031, with pick swaps in 2028 and 2030 for Giannis. Michael Pina: The Orlando Magic could do nothing, run this season’s roster back, hope for some better injury luck, and be freaking awesome in 2026. They’re a homegrown behemoth, fortified by two large, young, über-skilled forwards with perennial All-Star potential. They care about defense and are stockpiled with ascending two-way talent. But as auspicious as life may seem in Orlando, we’re talking about Giannis Antetokounmpo, the type of generational superstar who can obliterate even the most sensibly laid five-year plan. (John Hammond, who currently holds an advisory role in the Magic’s front office, drafted Giannis.) https://www.theringer.com/2025/04/30/nba/giannis-antetokounmpo-trade-rumors-milwaukee-bucks-offseason Quote

CTMagicUK's response: Quote I'm still actively watching this as I type this but Jeff Weltman just said less than 4 mins in that this season proved to him that we need to shift to "looking at the world through a win now lens". That's actually huge news provided he follows up on that mindset shift. (He doesn't explicitly say this but reading between the lines I think he feels like with all the adversity we faced this season that our core guys are good enough that whatever is around them they can get you to the playoffs, so now it's time to build around them to maximise them). EDIT: "what we need is proven shotmaking, proven offensive play". I know we all knew this but it's at least slightly comforting to know Weltman knows he needs to say this out loud and can't just fall back on the whole "development, injuries etc" stuff. EDIT2: also says he's talked a lot about continuity but when you enter this new phase you don't always have the luxury of keeping continuity (paraphrased). If Jeff Weltman doesn't make some splashy moves after all this talk I'll be very upset because I'm kind of getting excited for the summer. (Shout out to the reporters who were at this by the way they came through with some great questions.) Quote

All Eyes On Me's response: Quote Yep, the takeaway for me today for better or worse is that Weltman will get one last crack at making this team a contender, and Mosley will remain as the head coach. If either of those guys were out, they wouldn’t be at exit interviews today. Could be the most exciting off-season in a long time Quote
All Eyes On Me Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 Couple mock trades: We send: KCP/Goga/pick 16 and receive Austin Reaves and Jarred Vanderbilt from the Lakers We send: Cole Anthony/Jonathan Isaac and receive Anfernee Simons from the Blazers Starting 5 locked in as Reaves/Suggs/Franz/P5/Dell with bench of Ant/AB/TDS/JV/Moe to round out 10 man rotation. Small ball death squad of Ant/Suggs/Reaves/Franz/P5 would be lethal Quote
orlandoholic Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 So turning assets into upgrading our roster.. I think we’ll put Cole, KCP, WCJ, Isaac on the trade block. Maybe AB if it’s for a star player. we will cut: G. Harris and UFA list should be: - Tyus Jones - Schroeder - Trent Jr - Kennard - P. Achiuwa Quote

Small ball death squad of Ant/Suggs/Reaves/Franz/P5 would be lethal I mean, of course i’d do it. But the Lakers have protected trading Reaves, even excluded him on the Doncic trade. They are gonna use him to trade for a major star player. Quote

Like I said before it’s unrealistic but a fun discussion as he is a top 5 player without question. Quote
orlandoholic Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 and i just hope Franz takes the summer off from international duties. It would mean so much for him to work on his craft Quote
Shine88 Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/44952103 [Charania] "Sources have been telling me for weeks that the Celtics will be exploring trade options in the offseason. This iteration is just not going to be sustainable for this team, and no one around the organization would be surprised if there are changes coming to this roster." Jrue would most likely be the odd man out if changes are made. I wouldn't mind trading KCP + fillers in a three team trade for Jrue. I think he's a way better fit than KCP. He'd allow us to move Suggs back to the SG spot, and provide us with ball handling, play making and three point shooting. Would take a lot of pressure off Paolo and Franz, being that he played in a similar situation in Boston with Tatum and Brown. Quote
orlandoholic Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 Isaac is going to shed some weight! Kinda excited for him to identified what went wrong for him. started the season 250 and now around 235 Quote
