CTMagicUK 1,584 Report post Posted November 2, 2024 Stopped watching at the half. Being down your best player and 2 of your 4 bigs against a big physical team like Cleveland was always going to be an incredibly tall order. Like I say I only watched the first half but here are the thoughts I did have: How is Ty Jerome allowed to assault our players for the basketball multiple times but Jalen Suggs brushes Donovan Mitchell and it's a foul? Would like to see some more aggressive attacking from Anthony Black, his handle has improved and he had that 1 iso on I think Lavert where he got to the hoop and scored. More of that. TDS is definitely ready to play offense in the league right now. Jumper is fast and clean, makes smart cuts, passes out of the short roll. On defense though I saw him get bodied by Jerome, a PG, which is probably why Mose doesn't trust him yet. Really haven't seen anything from Jett yet. Cole has somehow regressed. He was always frustrating but he usually was good for a couple of buckets. Now he's doing very little right and seems to be losing the trust of the coaches. Franz was disappointing. Next season he'll be making max money. If you're getting paid the big money the standard is different. Jalen can be frustrating but I'd take frustrating and aggressive over passive and sharing the ball when we don't have Paolo to shoulder the scoring. 1

Everybody was standing around watching him dribble. If this is the offense while Paolo is out, I suggest everybody to start watching college basketball next week, because we will be picking in the lottery. Totally agree. If our point guard isn’t creating opportunities for the other four players on the floor, it’s a big problem, regardless of how many points he scores. He’s not going to win the game by himself
orlandoholic 184 Report post Posted November 2, 2024 It’s going to be an interesting first phase of the season.. The should be for everybody to make that next step, get more touches when Paolo is out. This first game was always going to be rough, as the next away games. We are kind of banged up right now. I wish we would have added a PF as a Two way contract. I said before the season, if one of our PF go down, it’s not ideal. Now it’s Paolo and we basically have Isaac (who can’t be trusted heavy workloads) and then we move Mo to backup PF when we get Wendell and Bitadze back. TDS is a nice player, just not a PF who is gonna bang inside.. I’d do a lot to get Naz Reid. Franz, look y’all. I’m on the record saying he is not a max player by my definition. Last game, there was only one Max Player in the Arena. That was Spider.. So we can move on and grow as a team. The season is is not over, but we are probably looking to compete for the last playoff spot or playin.. If Franz goes down, we might as well tank the season and draft Top 10 in this great class.. So who’s more at fault the guy trying to make something happen or the one who continues to be a liability on the offensive end by missing shots. Example Garry Harris was on the floor for 20 minutes going 0-4 and grabbing 1 rebound yet we want to call out Suggs for his poor play? Seems like we’re missing the bigger picture here. Soul Bro 1,475 Report post Posted November 2, 2024 Couldn't watch the game but have some random thoughts: For years this fan base has asked for a first round pick who is more experienced and can shoot, and it seems Weltman may have delivered that in TDS. That's great news. Ironically, TDS is actually older than AB, Jalen, Jett, Franz, and Paulo. Love that AB was inserted into the starting lineup. To me this guy deserves loads of reps as our starting PG. I bet against Suggs last year learning how to shoot, and he proved me wrong. I will never against Suggs learning a skillset again. He's the got the work ethic of a sheep dog. Keep grinding, young man! Excited to see this team adapt and grow. Go Magic!
MagicMan1979 140 Report post Posted November 2, 2024 TDS looked good in garbage time. He deserves playing time with Paolo out. Suggs looks like he is taking another step this year. I love his aggressiveness. I don’t agree with the negative take on him at all. Franz needs to step up way more. He hasn’t looked like a max guy so far but there is a lot of time. Go Magic! Franz would have signed for less than the max, certainly.

Pound for pound Jalen is "close to be the best player" in the league. Said it before, I would go to war with him by my side to any NBA game versus any team !!! I have not seen much from him or he like the rest of the team, are still in training camp mode. Let's hope for the latter.

I guess we weren’t watching the same game. Fourth quarter looked like the Suggs and Franz show to me. Hard for anyone else to contribute if you’re not running any plays for them and they go possession after possession without being part of the offense. Is our offense always predicated on one alpha guy, and if Paulo is out Suggs becomes the next Paulo? Do we think playing 1 or 2 vs 5 is the formula for winning games? With Paulo out we better start to play team basketball or it’s going to be a long few months. On to the next one.

He is NOT a championship caliber coach!!!
