some step-up but some of the ones that we think will pick up the slack was wetting the bed. JI and Wendell in particular were not performing to their standards. they are supposed to be the "next in line"

Happy New Year to everyone.  Been enjoying our discussions for years!

And now back to the game.  One quarter gone vs Detroit.  What is it with these crappy starts?

Eventually we will miss P5 and Franz and Mo.. P5 back Sunday my hunch tells me so perfect timing. The poor starts are almost as if they know we can lock down teams in the 4th. Some nights that won't cut it. We need to get to like 15th for 3 point percentage and we will beat most teams every night

I think those 2 benefitted from markelle, having a PG that feeds them timely near the basket and catching lobs. Goga could have been a star if we have played him a lot with kelee it seems

Goga is just fine. Wait till we have P and Franz back. Gonna be absolutely lethal

We can't keep falling behind and expect to keep winning games. Especially on the road where you don't have the support of the fans. We also don't have consistent enough 3-point shooting to keep making these comebacks. Yes, the defense shows up in the second half primarily, but eventually the poor shooting will result in losses. Even when Paolo and Franz return, and we are at full strength, the lack of 3-point shooting needs to be addressed somehow. As I am typing this post, I see that so far in this game the Pistons have knocked down 12 3's compared to our 6. This is the way it is on most nights. In the long run it won't come close to getting it done.

I mean it would be great to get to league average on 3s but we’ve been a terrible 3 point shooting team with essentially this roster for a few years.  Unfortunately no reason to believe that’s likely to just change.

we added KCP and drafted a shooter.

We should just change perhaps the size of our hoops, lol

Even if we were between mediocre and poor (say 20th or so in the league) that would be tremendous when we are at full strength. Would definitely help us to advance much further in the playoffs. Unfortunately, we are absolutely horrible on most nights from 3-point range. What's even more mind boggling is that we keep shooting a bunch of them as if we are the Celtics or something! 6 for 25 tonight..2 for 21 if not counting KCP's 4 for 4.

KCP is 4-4 from three tonite but the team is still shooting 25% from three overall (6-24).  We just don’t have enough consistent three point shooters in our supporting cast.

Also, KCP took Harris’ place, and Harris was our best three point shooter.  Didn’t really add any three point shooting to starting lineup.

A lot of our 3's come up short and hit the front of the rim, while others don't even hit anything. It would have to be increased in size to accommodate a beachball!

Something else to consider when speaking of lack of 3-point shooting is the fact that we expend so much energy defensively that could result in tired legs. This could explain a lot of our 3's coming up short and hitting the front of the rim. That does make a big difference.  Not trying to make excuses. But it could explain some of the issues.
