2024/2025 General Game Thread

Can’t win a NBA game if you can’t make threes. Franz teammates failed him today. Suggs went on a hot streak late in the 4th, but those were actually bad shots! And wtf was he thinking on his last attempt, when we were only down 4. That’s what i don’t like about Suggs. He sometimes thinks he’s Steph Curry out there. Can’t constantly hit a normal 3 but hey, let me step out just a few more steps, maybe those logo 3s are better.

Franz is great, but his 3 Point was off, and during that time you can’t settle for 3s..

Overall our offense sometimes is the definition of insanity. Always do the same and expect a different outcome.

Gotta find different solutions on offense and not just chuck up 3s, especially when the shot is not there.

Last point is quite simple, we still can’t beat good teams.

I appreciate your unwavering optimism, Jay, but hasn’t the main issue for the past 15 years been not being able to hit the 3 ball at league average?

Was going to wrote the same.

We're constantly improving in some aspect, as it should be giving the age of our core, but other glaring defects weren't corrected at all in the last offseason, and we're still here making the same comments every season.

Yeah that was a head scratching play. If only this group would fully embrace team ball instead of trying to make home run plays we would stop shooting ourselves in the foot so often.

Yeah this hero ball business and lack of team play at the end of close games especially is really getting old.

Yup and it’s just as much the coaches fault as it is the players. Coach needs to have some go to plays he can run when we need a basket. When you don’t have that kind of structure it just turns into street/hero ball.

I think Spazzy offensive Jalen chills when Paulo comes back.

It’s not just Jalen though it’s the whole team. They’d rather continue to jack up 3 point shots instead of driving to the basket and make something happen. That whole game we were missing wide open 3’s, Jalen’s last 2 attempts just stood out because they were at the end of the game and especially bad shots.

Where is the accountability after the first wild shot with 35 seconds left and down four points? You don’t even need a 3 at that time. Why wasn’t the coach making sure that didn’t happen again. Nope it happens in less than 20 seconds later. Laughable

The situational awareness was clearly lacking on Jalen’s part and the ineptitude of Coach Mose to not call a timeout and draw up a good play is yet another example as to why we need a good offensive coordinator. Coach needs to swallow his pride and realize he’s out of his league in that area. These poor offensive sets are really hurting us and will become even more glaring now that both of our starts are out with injuries.

Initially when I saw this my first knee-jerk reaction was "uh oh, season over". But after examining the schedule and taking into account Paolo's return somewhere around Christmas day, I started to feel a little more optimistic. Especially after I saw that 9-day break in the schedule from 12/10-12/19. We would have only 5 more games to play without PB, assuming he returns around the 25th. Let's say we go 1-4 in those 5 games, worst case scenario, that would put us at 17-13 when he returns. Then in the next 18 games without Franz (with a return the first week of Feb-same timeframe as Paolo) if we can go 12-6 that would put us at 29-19 when Franz gets back. Then we go 21-13 in the last 34 games to finish at 50-32. The only concern would be, is this too much of a heavy load to put upon Paolo? And was it too much for Franz without PB? He was logging a lot of minutes. Banchero's injury came right after the 50-piece performance. And that was with Wagner. If he were to reinjure himself then that would change things drastically. Guys are going to have to step up. Does Jalen become the primary scoring option now without PB and Franz? Or do you just go with whoever has things rolling that particular game? Either way I think we are going to be ok Magic fans. This is going to make us stronger. I truly believe that.

Just realized that it's not a 9-day time off from the 10th thru the 19th. Games will be scheduled according to how the Cup game goes this Tuesday versus the Bucks. I was assuming a Magic loss with no Paolo and Franz and Milwaukee pretty much at full strength now. Miracles can happen. You never know, I guess. That's why they play the games!

As bad as it is... it is gonna give massive opportunities for guys like AB.. Jett..TDS see what they got and get reps and more real playing time. I don't know why but I really got a good feeling about Jett...

Well I do know why... he has all the tools to be a excellent offensive player... he also has a very high iq and his passing is criminally underrated. We all know his shot he pure...

It's confidence with him and obviously DEFENDING is something he needs to get better at which he is... slowly but surely...

Let Jett have a longer leesh and let him handle the ball as much as he can...

The kid has got the IT factor.. I genuinely fell it with him. Time will tell...
