2024/2025 General Game Thread

For me has been more than a slight disappointment, at least until now, let's see how it finish and how much we learn (not only players, but even more urgently FO)

Game could have been a tricky one, back to back, you think they're weak and maybe the reserves goes 100%+ to show that they deserve playing time in playoffs. So it was good to put them away early.

This season I'm grateful we now know exactly what we're missing... a solid, shooting, distributing point guard. Who knew?!?

Additionally, it's nice to see our role players finally settle in with KCP, WCJ, AB and CH all playing good ball. (If you didn't know, KCP is shooting 55% from three over our last 10 games, while CH is shooting 50% from three in that same timeframe).

Lastly, we are so fortunate to have two young, super-wings in Franz and Paulo. Go Magic!

I dont know about this, sometimes is better to have a terrible season and be a lottery team instead of being stuck in this 1st round exit inferno

We don’t need to tank anymore. We already have two all stars to build around that we got from tanking.  We just need good role players that can shoot and another guard that can play make.  We can do that through trades. We also have two draft picks this summer. It should be obvious if we were healthy we would have a higher seeding.  No more loser mentality.

"Stuck in"? We've been to the playoffs 3 times since we traded Dwight Howard. This core has been to the playoffs exactly once.

I am very happy that we won against the Hawks last night. Most of you know that I am a die-hard  Magic fan. But my biggest concern is we have a few games to go in the regular season, then perhaps the playin. But the way the Magic played last night is not sustainable. We all know injuries do happen.

First:  All 5 starters played a lot of minutes and scored a lot of points. **Banchero played 37 minutes and Franz played 40 minutes** We've got to get more help from the bench (hopefully in scoring).

I understand that the product the Bucks had on the floor last night were unrecognizable bench players. However, our bench players played very well.

This was the point I was making in my post 20 hrs. ago after the game against the Hawks. The Magic's bench players need to be given an opportunity to play significant minutes down the stretch to see what we have (possibly if needed going into the playoffs--a bench with a significant bunch of roleplayers who wouldn't miss a beat while some of the starters are resting). Playing the bench last night gave the Magic a different look that other teams are not use to seeing.

We couldn't see that in the Hawks game the other night because the starters played heavy minutes.

GO MAGIC!!!!

My game ball for this Magic win over the Celtics goes to Greg Anthony. He left it all out on the court. That's winning basketball. That's how you get it done. 18 points and 5 made 3's. Plus he did a great job distributing the basketball. I think we are going to be facing the Bulls in the play-in game. I see them snagging the 8th seed. The Hawks will be facing the Heat. I would prefer to play the Hawks. The Bulls are on a run right now. Giddey and White are on a roll.

I’d also be worried about playing the Bulls, but we’re in a unique position here. The Bulls play the Wizards and the Sixers to end the season, they should win both and finish 39-43. Hawks play the Nets and the Sixers which they should win both to get to 39-42, and then they finish the season against us. We could be in a position where we decide if we want to tank and force a play-in matchup vs Atlanta in the last game of the season.

11. Tristan da Silva, SF, Magic

Drafted: No. 18, Colorado
Key stats: 7.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 52.3% TS

Although his role has dwindled of late, da Silva made 36 starts for the Magic and has averaged 21.8 minutes per game, proving a useful fill-in with Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero each missing significant time this season because of injuries.

While not flashy, da Silva's ability to blend lineups offensively and defend multiple positions makes him a versatile depth player, adding value that doesn't always show up in his counting stats. He turns 24 on May 15, so the upside might not be immense, but the Magic found immediate utility with him in the mid-first round.

ESPN rookie rankings.

Who the heck would want to tank anymore? OMFG some people got so used to that last decade. Do yourself a favor and start in 2013 and go back and see who we drafted each year since then. The only tank year that actually worked was the year we got Paolo because the Magic always draft well at number one. The other years were all hit or miss and usually total misses.

Does anyone remember we only just missed out on Luka because we won some meaningless game against the Wizards the last game of the season way back when?

I wonder what this front office would have put around him by now.

worked very well for okc tanking all these years

dont fault the strategy, fault the terrible FO - coach and their terrible picks. We had hennigan also, who is probably the worst GM in the history of the game (nico harrison has topped that since)

exactly what I am saying. Is going to be 3 first round exits in 6 years after this season

For what? to draft mid round and get a mediocre player like da silva? is not about the tree anymore, is about the forest.
