He's a very very good basketball player but this team is playing like the worst team in basketball without him and some of these guys get paid a lot of money. The coaches and the players need to figure this out pretty quickly otherwise we might be in too big of a hole when Paolo gets back. Amen.
Luke_FfS 287 Report post Posted November 4, 2024 When you miss your best off player, a lot of times solution is tighten up in defense, and that should be our best weapon anyway, but so far we doesn't seem to be locked in def as last season (I havent's checked the stats, too early for that, just a sensation)

Problem is that if you don’t make many shots, you’re always struggling to get set up on defense. 3 of the last 5 games, we’ve given up 115 or more.
orlandoholic 190 Report post Posted November 4, 2024 3 hours ago, harley said: I have never really been a fan of our front office. The Paolo pick has basically saved their skin. The Jett Howard pick instead of taking Lively is horrid. Jury is still out on AB, but has hasn't set the world on fire. Perhaps the most bewildering decisions was the early resignings of the NBAs 2 most injury prone players (JI, WCJ), when we didn't even need to resign them? Now we can't trade WCJ, who is a backup PF at best! He cant stay on the court, is on 12 million and they gave him a bloody pay rise on the next contract. Make it make sense. We need to trade for C or suck enough to draft that one out Duke who looks great. Why did they give Harris another Contract? 14 million for *****ing Mo Wagner? 13 million for Cole who is unplayable and looks completely out of his depth on the court now. Just poor decisions after poor decisions. Had Jay Huff in our back yard and let him go. Every year we trade our second round picks for cash considerations when every other team constantly finds diamonds in the rough. Hell even Memphis 2 way players are all better than the players Weltham extended in off season. Completely out on Jeff and Co. You watch, they will sit back and use this Paolo injury as another excuse to do ***** all this year. Take both firsts to the draft and trade our seconds, and sign another washed Vet. Rinse and Repeat I don’t really agree with much of this. It’s easy to start throwing stones now! We had exactly the offseason most people had hoped for. AB looks great. At least he plays within himself. Jett is definitely the shooter we looked for. I’m actually glad we picked him instead of G. Dick. If the front office you are bashing would have listened to the majority of the fans, we’d have: Bouknight J. Smith G. Dick on this squad and we wouldn’t have Paolo, Franz or Jett. Not even AB. But.. I do criticize them too. The way we play, we have to commit to playing style. Or we going to be a team that relies on self creation (which we do) or are we a team that thrives through X and Os? Well our coach has shown, he wants players to make decisions on the court, we play a style that relies on self creation. So as a front office you have to give him those players. Resigning G. Harris made little sense, signing KCP was a safe move, great move on defense, but it didn’t help in terms of getting another go to guy. That said, things can be corrected imo. I’d honor and get Simons. He doesn’t do well on defense, but he fits as a Go To scorer, takes the load of Franz and could also coexist with Paolo together. And the main criticism of the fo is that we are always so conservative. We rarely make aggressive moves. Even signing KCP is not much of an aggressive move, it’s basically playing a safe card. we have assets, we have to use them right. Cole, Gary, Mo, WCJ, should be on the block, and also 1st round picks (to some extend) to get that second Go To guy in the building. OR we have to install a system where we execute X and Os!! Shine88 114 Report post Posted November 4, 2024 People have to start putting more respect on Paolo' name. He was winning games last season with Goga, Okeke and Houstan in the starting lineup. We have better pieces this year, yet, we look like a lottery team without him.
All Eyes On Me 1,314 Report post Posted November 4, 2024 Think the biggest issue in the 2nd unit is we didn’t replace Fultz or Ingles with a playmaker. We had so few playmakers to begin with and we don’t have any creators off the bench. We also still have a bunch of vets who can’t hit wide open shots. I’m trying not to be too reactionary, but we might want to consider an early season trade to keep our heads above water. I also think the team needs to get home before we can judge them too harshly, this has been the road trip from hell. Also, I know it’s frustrating with constantly injured players, I’m guilty of being hard on them as much as anyone, but I’m heartbroken for WCJ. Seeing him in tears on the bench because his body just isn’t cooperating with his mind really reminded me of the human element. It was also really cool to see Suggs comforting him. Even if we’re in a slump and the early season has been rough, I’m glad I root for a team filled with genuinely good dudes.

I don’t think people are disrespecting Paolo on this board. The dude is great. If anything, he’s overlooked by the media. This dude can do anything on the court. He’s even developed into a good shooter. His only knock was careless turnovers and it looked like he cleaned that up

JJZFL 685 Report post Posted November 4, 2024 Second night of a back to back tonight. We’re playing Oklahoma. Game around 9 Eastern time. Oklahoma 12.5 point favorites. Honestly not sure how the team will come out. Maybe a little embarrassed and looking to establish some credibility as a competitor? Or will things snowball and we get blown out again in the second game of an away back to back with key injuries? Im curious what people think. I really have no idea. I think we will be out matched once again. They’re a tough team to beat when we’re healthy much less when we don’t have our starting C or PF healthy right now. I don’t think we win this one, and I fear it’ll be another blowout. Feel like it’s safe to assume Carter and Goga will both be out again, so if our only ‘Center’ is Moe Wagner, we’re in trouble. Too bad we had Jay Huff on our summer league team and let him walk.
