CTMagicUK Posted February 8 Author Report Posted February 8 I came to post about this G league guy. I'm just a bit confused why we're using the 2 way now? Did we use it as an incentive for the Osceola Magic to attract guys? (I.e. come here and play well and there's a chance at a 2 way) Is this actually a response to a need for shooting or just coincidental timing? I doubt he really gets in the game but volume + percentage wise he's a pretty encouraging shooter, by both volume and percentage his G league stats would be better than basically anyone on the roster this season. I think this is where my frustration comes in to play more than anywhere for our inactive trade deadline. Sure, Thompson’s numbers are encouraging, but how are we going to justify giving him minutes. Even with Suggs out, we have a 10 man of Cole/KCP/Franz/P/Goga/AB/GH/TDS/JI/WCJ. Even when Suggs gets back, I’m not sure who falls out, other than the inevitable missed games from Street Clothes Harris. We have a surplus of decent players, I don’t think a G Leaguer would come in and get minutes over Jett or anything like that. Could be a depth move too, Suggs had to have suffered some sort of setback they’re not mentioning, he went from questionable to doubtful and has been that way for the past 4 games. Quote
Soul Bro Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 Success is measured in wins and losses. I don’t understand why we didn’t at least add guys like Davion Mitchell or Torrey Craig to provide competition and a wake-up call to our guys. It’s so confusing. Where’s the accountability? How come teams like Miami and Boston make moves like this and we don’t? Guys like Harris should be cut. He’s doing nothing for us on the injury report. Rant over. Quote
All Eyes On Me Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 Ben Simmons bought out. Weltman has a chance to do the funniest thing ever lol Quote

Well, they have an actual FO and we just don't. Pat Riley could teach one or two things to Weltman and Co. Quote

orlandoholic Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 AD is playing with a chip on his shoulder. I guess he feels disrespected. Haven’t seen him this active in a while Quote
Luke_FfS Posted February 8 Report Posted February 8 Of the next 11 games, 8 are very much winnable and most of those 11 are at home. Time to get back on track. Quote

While I completely agree that’s how it could and should play out, lately we’ve not looked good even against bad teams. Spurs and Hawks have records pretty similar to ours. Charlotte and Washington are bad. Can we resume beating teams we should beat, especially at home? One of the biggest changes in our bad spell is we’ve stopped doing that. I guess we’ll start to find out tonight. I’d really like us to win this one! Quote

Jay Magic Posted February 9 Report Posted February 9 Listened to Weltman’s interview again, and here’s a big part I took from it -He put out an interesting stat regarding Orlando’s three-point shooting, stating that when the Magic shoot 32% or better from three they have a record of 54-17 the last two seasons. That’s pretty significant. Unfortunately, there’s been far too many games where the Magic have shot less than 32%, which is well below league average. League average is around 35%, the Magic are shooting 30% (last in the NBA) this season. Weltman said he expected the team to shoot 35%, and has “never seen anything like this” with how many guys are shooting career lows. He cannot figure out why it’s been so bad this season, but suggested it could be a rhythm issue given all the injuries and lineup changes. To his point, he’s correct that on paper this team should’ve shot the ball much better this season. It is puzzling that it’s been this bad, the Magic are due to start shooting it better. Hopefully getting and staying healthy, will help Orlando find a rhythm heading into the postseason. Quote
