the Magic are 17th in the league with 18.9 "wide-open" 3-point attempts per game (where the closest defender is six or more feet away) this season. They shoot a league-worst 34.1 percent on these attempts. Last year, they were 15th in the league with 18.2 of these attempts per game, making 37.8 percent.

the Magic are 14th in the league with 9.8 corner threes per game, making 35.2 percent of these shots (third-worst in the league). Last year, they were 21st in the league with 8.5 attempts per game, but made 36.7 percent of those shots.

The Magic are 28th in the league with an average of 16.1 seconds to shoot after made baskets, according to data from Inpredictable. The Magic are second in the league with 9.7 field goal attempts per game in the last four seconds of the shot clock.

They are even 23rd in that category after turnovers, a baffling revelation of how poor they are in transition, even with the amount of turnovers they create.

Quote

The Magic rank 27th in offensive rating, 29th in pace, and 30th in 3-point percentage. In the last 10 games, with Cory Joseph in the starting line-up, the Magic ranked 22nd in offensive rating, 27th in pace, and 23rd in three-point shooting.

My favorite one of these stats is the last one. Cory Joseph has made us better, but we’re still well below league average with him in. Goes to show how close we are to being really really good if our GM decides he wants to actually win games.

I agree, and we commented a few times that situation recently.  It's also impossible to understand for me how FO was unable to see something that a lot of people here in the forum pointed out more than one year ago, and almost everyone finally agreed in this season. It's so evident, every single stat points to it, that I don't still know how they decided to stay put... even an average and cheap PG, a better version of Cory, could have made wonders. They should have a lot more experts, and experience, than any random forum guy, but still...

The other two data's I consider pretty important:

- I understand that bad health has surely worsened our offense, but what about wide open 3's? Those are wide open, not affected by injuries, so where's the internal improvement of young guys? What the shooting coach is doing?

- When nothing works on offense, and you're dead last on 3's%, but you're a very good defensive team... why just don't use some Pace and amplify the effect of the good defense? Probably wouldn't work on playoffs, but in regular season could. Being 29th in pace is another big anomaly IMO, why coaching staff isn't even trying to solve problems with the easiest solutions?

wow crazy. You are 4th and you get fired.. lol.

Weltman can give some of his patience to other franchises. Maybe it balances him out and he’d be more active in return

Orlando Magic implications. If the Nuggets full on implode to end the season, they could wind up in the play-in tournament and losing. If they do, they’re sending us the last pick or the lotto # 14 instead of 25

I can’t remember this happening this late in the season before. Memphis fired their coach last week also. Would any of the board be interested in Malone this summer?

I’d be interested for sure. Coach that has won a title and has ties to the organization, his dad was lead assistant under SVG. He’s not the kind of coach our ownership and management would hire though, he’s too opinionated and wouldn’t fall in line with the BS they dish out.

They did hire SVG and he is pretty opinionated.

SVG was brought in by Otis Smith, much less of a chicken **** than Weltman. Also, Alex Martins wasn’t nearly as involved back then.

Malone gets fired dor less. They are really serious on winning.
if only westbrook never missed yhat layup and didn’t foul the shooter, he might still be coaching.

Posting from Denver. So the talking heads believe Kroenke Jr. in that they were going to do it at the end of the season so why now now.

Basically Malone and the GM were feuding behind the scenes, and Malone started lashing out at the players. The fans and talking heads here hate the GM, and first day talk has them wishing they had given Malone at least the rest of the playoffs.

Behind the scenes it's pretty obvious Malone pissed off Jokic and Kroenke.

Soooooo time to make a godfather offer for Jokic? We have world class horse country not to far away. LOL!

Edit. So nothing makes sense, ever but Luka just was traded so.

Make your greatest trade packages for Jokic....with these caveats. Nuggets completely miss the playoffs giving us the best possible pick in the draft(in the context not number one]. Before the lottery and after. And go!
