2024/25 NBA Regular Season Thread

I'm not a fan of Dwight because of his character. However if you really followed the team back then you will remember he was bamboozled by the team. They convinced him to pick up his option so they could get something for him. And they actually received Vucevic. Undisputedly the best player the Magic had after Dwight until the Minute they drafted Franz Wagner.

In fact the initial moves they made through 2013 were sound. If they had kept Tobias Harris and built around him,Vucevic,Dipo and over paid for a veteran point guard things would have been very different. Point guards not being used correctly i remember Magic subs wanted. Goran Dragic,Kyle Lowry,Isaiah Thomas,Jrue Holiday, and a few others that other teams acquired.

Heck even Westbrook and Chris Paul were traded to places they didn't want to be. People seem to forget the players don't always hold all the cards if you dangle the right pieces. Imagine all those wasted picks being used around 2014-2016 to get an impact player instead of drafting nonsense.

Edit. Yes he could not have wound up on the Lakers without the option picked up but i remember he was prepared to go to free agency. Likely the Lakers behind the scenes talked to him so ***** them too.

This Grizzlies stuff got me thinking, wonder if they’re ready to change it up and move on from Ja. Then I got to digging in, and Ja’s agent is Mike Miller. Hmmmmmmm

The health and off court antics concerns me, as does the jumper fitting with this team but you'd have to try it if you could.

Yeah i was right there with you guys. Saw the boat rocking and thought let me check his basketball reference page. I don't watch the Grizzlies much.

Looked at his stats and was surprised. Pretty bad for a "Star". No thanks. His 3 point percentage is bad and he can't stay healthy. Probably not a good defender without JJ around him and the only elite skills he would bring us is ball handling and penetration. Things the Magic need but not at the expense of drama and bad shooting.

it all would depend on the price of assets..

But i feel like if Morant would be traded, then a star for star trade would make sense.

I see a Ja Morant and Zion Williamson trade realistic for example..

If we had a chance i would definitely swing for that though.
We also struggle with a fast pace and Ja would help so much to push that ball down the court.

We did clinch a play-in berth yesterday. Currently the 7 seed and control our own destiny to have the play-in game at home since we still play Atlanta twice in our last 7. Bulls, Hawks and Heat have all been different levels of decent, so a play-in win isn’t a guarantee, but it’ll be nice to at least play some sort of important basketball. We’re also 5 games back of Milwaukee (6 back in loss column) for the 6 seed. We’ve got 7 left, Milwaukee has 9. Not a good chance we Chase em down, but now impossible I guess

Big thing i mentioned is Ja doesn't have Star player stats. He could, in theory, i guess. Brunson is better then him for two years now even though Ja's ceiling might be higher.

I don’t give him a pass like that.

He really screwed us. he really only gave us two teams he would be traded too. So teams lowballed us tremendously for arguably a top 3 player in the draft. So yeah Howard did us really dirty and i can’t really remember a player who did that to a franchise. It’s comparable to Jimmy Butler, but at least Jimmy Butler gave Miami more teams to work out a trade with.

https://sportando.basketball/en/nba-ja-morant-complained-about-jenkins-new-offensive-scheme/

Does anybody watch the Grizzlies? I don’t so intensively. I’m confused about this report.

The new offense was brought by Iisalo who is now the head coach. And it’s actually a great system, that should benefit him. But it also intends for him to share the Ball quickly.

So what i’m getting out of this is that Morant doesn’t like to pass/share the ball.

If so, he is a no go for us.

And also i’m confused why the Grizzlies would make the assistant, who brought that offense, the head coach?
