only if it’s Cam Johnson and Coby White.. Otherwise he won’t move the needle too much.. We fumbled on Fox. Could have made a better offer.
Our fo once again sleeps and is not aggressive

How could we have made a better offer? If the Kings wanted Lavine the Spurs were the only team that could really facilitate that because they could give Chicago their 2025 pick back.

Would the Mavs in this new "defense first" mode be interested in KCP?

I'm wondering if we could get Jaden Hardy and Daniel Gafford (along with assorted bric-a-brac to make the money work either side) for him (and maybe we include a pick i don't know). Thinking that with AD and Lively that might squeeze Gaffords minutes.

Gafford starts at the 5, makes Goga moveable. Use some combo of Cole, Gary, Goga, Jett and picks to try and get a starting guard. I mean if you could get Coby White for Cole (matching salary) and a first I'd just do that right now.

Suggs

Someone/Coby White

Franz

Paolo

Gafford

Bench of Hardy, TDS, AB, WCJ, JI.

Just Monday morning daydreaming unfortunately.

EDIT: just remembered Derek Lively is injured too. Scratch that.

Everything I'm reading says Dallas is keeping Gafford. I'm still hoping for a White/Sexton and/or Johnson trade. We need a shooting and a shake-up.

that’s not what has been said. It’s said that that’s a preferred destination.

And he's now traded to the "preferred destination". What a surprise. ;)

I'm just going to come out and say it, I'm glad we didn't trade for Fox, I think the Kings did ok out of it and I don't think the Spurs are now some super team with Fox/Wemby.

I realize all of those are seemingly hot takes given the online reactions but I'm good with them.

I don't expect the Kings to be good but if they can rehab Lavine's value a little by like making the 8th seed or something they can make more moves in the summer to pivot and/or blow it up. They still have their best player and a shot at the playoffs, might as well try for it this year and evaluate at the end of the season if it's worth continuing with.

Fox is a 27 year old, average shooting, not particularly big, heavily speed dependent guard who the Spurs will likely have to give a max contract to for his age 29-34 seasons. I'm not entirely convinced that'll be a good contract when the Spurs are paying a 33 year old Fox 60 million dollars right in the middle of Wemby's prime.

NBA is a circus league. They just saved two major markets.
Lakers stay relevant and a quick rebuild after Lebron era and Wemby gets a great fit as he wasn’t winning.

Circus league. Too bad the NBA hates the Magic.

I believe you was one that laughed at me for suggesting the Kings wanted Lavine. I posted that trade couple of days ago.

Of course we had a better offer. Heck even the Spurs had a better offer. They could have demanded Vassell or at least Keldon Johnson or Sochan. The Spurs kept ALL their talent!!!

Bottom line is the NBA got their way with these lopsided trades. They keep the Lakers relevant and also Wembanyama wasn’t winning with the talent they had. They needed a major upgrade and they got it quite cheap

If you can find a post where I laughed at you for that I'll apologize. But I don't think I did. In fact I think my exact response to a trade where you suggested we send KCP, Gary Harris and 2 2nds to Chicago for Lavine to go to Sacramento was

"Why would Chicago do that?"

Which I stand by. Because they didn't. Because they got a better offer.

Incidentally the trade you proposed that involved the Bulls and Lavine and had us getting Fox had the Kings getting way less than what they actually got. (Lavine, Jett Howard and 1 first versus Lavine, Cidy Sissoko, 3 firsts and 3 seconds).

Ok, maybe i misinterpreted that part. That you was kinda laughing at that trade. But it was actually more like

SAC getting AB, Lavine and firsts (multiple)

CHI getting Jett, Cole, Huerter and a first

through in 2nds as well

Second trade was KCP and Gary for Cam Johnson.

Something like that. But either way. The trade went down as i expected. Huerter, Lavine was gonna be involved

For any Spurs/Sacramento trade i would have thought Sacramento would have demanded Vassell. Or at least some talent. Them not having to sacrifice real talent is such a NBA involvement in the trade imo. They orchestrate this stuff imo. That’s a bit of a conspiracy, but these past two trades are just too obvious.

Fox turning Sacramento extension down, because he wants to win, just to name one team San Antonio he wants to join (Sacramento as of right now is in the playin and the Spurs are once again a lottery team)

That is such a ridiculous narrative that was created.

NBA wanted their premium marketing player once Lebron is out, in a winning environment and Wembanyama can’t do it, because imo he’s more of a showman right now, than a winning basketball player..

If only the NBA would care for the Magic as much, i probably wouldn’t rant tbh, but unfortunately they don’t care about Banchero or Franz right now

to follow up on them Sours picks.

The 2025 Charlotte pick is unlikely to convey and they’ll be second round picks

2025 CHI pick is somewhere around 12-20ish

2027 pick from SA will be in the 20s

2031 Minnesota pick could be valuable

The Spurs kept ALL their major assets and can and will likely add another major piece down the road.

Nobody can convince me otherwise. Fabricated deal

the remaining draft capital or what Sacramento hasn’t asked for:

Bobby Marks: Here are the first round picks that San Antonio has remaining: Own: 6 of their next 7 Two unprotected from Atlanta (2025 and 2027) Swap rights: Atlanta (2026) Swap rights: Boston (2028, top-1 protected) Swap rights: More favorable of Dallas and Minnesota (top-1 protected) (2030) Swap rights: Sacramento (2031)
