2024/25 NBA Regular Season Thread

Recommended Posts

Just bought four tickets to take the family to the early Sunday home game against the Nets in two weeks (12/29).  Wasn’t cheap but we’re all looking forward to it!

This organisation selected and developed Franz Wagner. Scouts said he might be a 3/4 tweener and as a rookie we played him at PG and SG at times (partly due to injuries) to develop his ball handling. The idea that we lucked into him when literally nobody was saying he was this good is wild. We also brought in his brother for free off the scrap heap in a move that is one of the more underrated moves they've made because it likely helped Franz settle to have his brother around and Mo Wagner became one of our important bench pieces at the exact same time. I think Mo Wagner was actually a culture setting move too. A guy who was almost out of the league who scrapped and clawed his way into being a legitimate NBA player.

Everyone crying we can't trade WCJ because we have Goga but they ignore that Indiana literally gave up on Goga and this organisation brought him in and developed him so much so that he literally said this summer he wanted to stay because this organisation saved his career. Nobody wants to give any credit to the decision makers for that?

A few years ago Rob Hennigan traded Oladipo and Sabonis for the corpse of Serge Ibaka, now we've got an actually good front office (not perfect by any stretch, nobody is) and people still want to complain about it when they've built the best team we've had in a long time.

The people who want to trade WCJ, Jett and Cole for some random scoring guard who plays no defense are the same people who'd have traded Vuc for a packet of chips before he had his all star years and became valuable enough to net us the pick that became Franz. Fans aren't patient. But this front office is and usually it's proven to be worthwhile for them to be patient.

Tyus Jones being the big point of contention for people is absolutely mind blowing. He's the starting PG on a team with a worse record than us who we just beat without our two best players.

What I'd say right now about Wendell is that on offense we are playing 4 versus 5 on many possessions. He is not being engaged on the plays / he doesn't create his own plays by being more active.

With 2 more draft picks in a few months a trade, any trade, at some point is not out of the cards.

A trade with Wendell is out of the cards though.

You are right Jay....it's Jalen time to show that he too is a star in this league. To me, Jalen is pound per pound one of the best players in the league.

And last night against Giannis, a top player in this league, Jalen a pound per pound top player too, showed his star power talent !!!

This is the link to Mo and Franz 4 part documentary. I've just finished watching it and I gotta say I loved every minute.

We are truly blessed to have the Wagner family in our organisation...

The love they have is special... 2 top class players but even better humans

Mum and dad are fantastic also.

1 or 2 things Mo said about Franz stood out.. that when Franz was injured at 13 or 14 years old they gave him some crazy regime to get healthy quicker and Franz followed every single detail to the t that Mo then knew his brother is a maniac level of wanting to play ball and be the best ever. It was absurd. Even being injured Franz turned up to the gym every single day to add something... even sititng down shooting etc...You'll have to listen

Also seeing Franz cry his eyes out after the Cavs game 7 he knew his brother is going to come back with extreme focus and vengeance and he will bring us a a championship some day soon. He called Franz a master of the game. He wants to get better every single day.

The love between them is special they r best friends..

Seeing the contract negotiations also was very enlightening... at 1 point during Mo 2nd contract with us.. Franz seemed like he was on the phone to management making sure we gave Mo what he is worth...

Franz getting his 224 million contract on the phone to his mum and dad was special too .. he was overwhelmed .. so emotional.

Also it's German so translate subs from German to English and choose the tv audio.

3 hours of fantastic watch

Our front office made some good moves. They have a vision and they stuck to it. So i want to agree with you but they still drafted Mo Bamba and ignored all the injury problem players we have.

it's easy to look back and praise but there is always context. Their blind loyalty to players they pick is almost borderline crazy. The Vooch and Aaron trades happened because the two players they went all in on were hurt and unplayable(Futlz and Isaac, who is currently hurt again?????).

So they got Lucky with the Bulls fleecing, the Gordon trade shows more on that side then ours....that GM runs the T-Wolves now. Choosin Suggs was a no Brainer the whole planet was surprised he fell to us and Wagner partial luck. So was Goga. They failed to get Hartenstein just like the previous gm failed to  get Milsap.

Get your heads out of whatever they are in, we are not there yet.

A long time ago some Magic people drafted Shaq and Penny.

How many championships does this franchise have?

Nuff said

Edit....look at the million moves the Celtics have made the last ten years! it's not all about drafting a few stars. When i was growing up the Bulls were the franchise that did this, it wasn't all MJ, they made brilliant moves!

Double edit!

The best thing the Magics front office did was choose Paolo. It was only ever Chet or Paolo and the whole world tried to get them to draft Smith.

The Magics reputation was trashed thanks to Hennigan and mass media and the powers that be were trying to get Banchero to a better market.

Haven't seen anything like it since the Clippers drafted the Candy man. Candyman was Jabari Smith in case your wondering
