I would have tried to get Tyus instead of Cory Joseph, but only because I wasn’t sure how much AB had improved over the summer. I still think we need more of a true PG, because we still have periods where we get too isolation oriented.

Has anybody heard any updates on Paolo? Has he been reevaluated yet? ESPN has an estimated return of 12/8, but have no idea if that’s accurate.

So you’re telling me a guy who consistently leads the league in assist to turnover ratio, can shoot the 3 ball, and is a decent defender wouldn’t fit this team at all?! I know we’re playing well and all but that’s just a crazy statement to make lol. Give me Tyus Jones over Cory Joseph or Cole Anthony any day of the week.

Latest update is that he’s started to do some light on court work last week, but the espn date is just a guess based around the original timeline after injury diagnosis. I’d expect him to still be out another 2-3 weeks, returning around Christmas.

My guess on Paolo is if we make it to the cup semi or final he may be back then... if not I am gonna pencil him in to return vs Boston on 23rd at home.

I am telling you a guy that is a back up on most teams who can’t defend and wanted to start was not going to be happy here at all.  He also is not the type of player our front office looks at due to his physical limitations. His Playoff numbers always go down as well. He is getting over 32 minutes a game for Phoenix and wants a bigger pay day next year.  I think it worked out form him and for us.  But the sky isn’t falling because our awesome team didn’t sign an unhappy Tyus Jones lol

 

How many more wins would we have with him right now?  Would we be better than a third seed in The East?

I wonder where the can’t defend narrative is coming from because that’s just simply untrue. He’s no Jalen Suggs but he won’t get beat consistently like Cole Anthony tends to. He’s also very efficient with the basketball and routinely gets other players involved on offense. Not saying I want to make a trade for him but saying we couldn’t use a guard like that on our team is a bit over the top.
He would also be insurance if one of our guards goes down. If Suggs or Black are out for an extended period of time that means we’re running with Cole Anthony or Cory Joseph initiating the offense and trust me that’s gonna look a lot worse than having Tyus Jones getting those minutes instead.

Either way it’s a moot point because he isn’t on our team and we aren’t trading for him. Just found it interesting you’re so adamant about Tyus not being a good fit when we have guys like Caleb Houstan, Cole Anthony, and Cory Joseph on our team.

One big fish that could become available if things keep going like they are out west that I’d be intrigued by is De’Aaron Fox. The Kings are bad and he could try to force his way out after yet another disappointing season. It’d cost us a ton, and I’m not sure how the fit would work as he, Paolo and Franz are all ball dominant, but he’d be a ton of fun and the best PG we’ve had since Penny.
