May i ask your opinion who is or what type of player is the missing piece?

Imo we still need a high level point guard who can get his own and ideally deal comfortable playing off the ball. But we have to get him without giving up core pieces.

The package is Cole, Harris and two firsts. My guy is Simons.

Portland fans want him gone for expiring, he was 2/14 tonight so would fit right in. His defense is League worst, and makes 26 mill a year. Pretty sure that will put us into the apron next year. It's just too big of a contract. I want Brogdon (22 mill exp) for Cole/Gary and 2 x 2nds or Sexton for Cole/Gary and a 1st. I don't want to wait until deadline to make our ove, we have a chance to really be a top 2 team in the east with a tweak or two. A capable guard off the bench would be our biggest need. Then in a year or two go balls to the wall KCP/WCJ and 4 x 1sts for an Elite centre.

The only thing I agree with you is that we have two great young stars.
But that doesn't imply that we won't make any transfers to improve the team, just for fear of messing with the dynamics. No team in our situation thinks like that. If there are players that don't fit the long-term project, or if there are players you think you can trade for others who are better, you do it. It's a long-term construction. Because no, we are not a contending team this year. We have one of the strongest young core in the league, we have a lot of potential, but if you look at 2 minutes of what usually happens in history, you will see that there are no teams that come out champions with their stars at 22 and 23 years old. It ALWAYS takes longer.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited about this team and I think that in many ways this year means a big step forward for the team. But to say that makes us a contender is simply a lie or a very silly analysis.

I also don't understand the WCJ extension, it wasn't necessary and now we can't transfer him, when we probably would want to. What I see from Cole Anthony makes me think that a transfer would be better not only for the team, but also for him. Gary Harris should be out before the market closes, I've seen enough and would rather see his minutes get TDS, Jett or any player who can shoot and make threes.

That being said, there probably won't be any trades in the end, at least not major ones this season, because that's not the FO's style.

No one does. Not one fan across all the message boards. Would love to hear from Weltman to explain it. Insane

I understand it. It's not really that hard to understand honestly.

I don’t know how anybody can say „nobody does, or ALL the fans…“

For me i understand why we extended him. He’s a starting center in this league who plays unselfish basketball, willing to do the dirty work and is on a reasonable contract. He’s a center that can bang with about any centers, including Embiid. He holds his ground. On good days he can also stretch the floor and open up lanes.
Bitadze, although great, is basically useless on the perimeter, allowing opponents to pack the paint. Recently he’s been more aggressive and provides some offense in the paint. So that’s great. Bitadze is great. I love the hustle and his defense. I love him for the same reasons i loved Khem Birch. Bitadze is closer to Khem Birch than to Gortat.

I’d also look at a Cam Thomas+ DFS package deal. Not sure what they’d want but my package remains the same. Cole+Gary (add Houstan) and two firsts.

With Cam in the team, we’d never have spacing problems. But i’d kinda fear that he takes away too much from others.

Adding DFS to this defensive team would be insane.

I think the fact that a team so devoid of a long term future as the Nets don't want to extend Cam Thomas should be reason to be cautious on that. It's something I thought about myself honestly but you can take everything I've said previously about Simons and you can apply it to Cam as well and Cam is a much less willing passer also (but a better shot maker).

That's an interesting trade proposal. One i have seen on a few other fan sites. Problem is teams have fans to satisfy and a salary floor. While it was strange the Nets didn't extend Cam already i have a hard time seeing a path forward where they don't extend him.

Even if they tank, and they will at some point, you have to have players to put on the floor. Trading Cam for a Cole/Harris package would help the tank but leave the cupboard bare even if they get Flagg. Now if it includes a possible Lottery projected Denver pick and maybe some of ours down the road they might bite. let's see what happens this next month.

I think they would ask for Black, but obviously he ain't going anywhere. Trading for Cam seems messy on both sides seeing as we would have to extend him.

Easier to just target Dennis and Bojan from the same team and go for a longer play off run. Not sure how to make that trade work but i think picks are not the problem it's players that the Nets might see as useful but don't mess up the tank. Nobody wanted those players last year so we could probable make it happen.

You are probably right on that.. As a fan, i can’t really look into personal life, training mentality and all that. I can only try to evaluate what kind of player would be a missing piece. On offense, i have no doubt we could benefit greatly from his shot making. We are so dependent on players creating themselves..

But to make that deal even better, having DFS would be huge.
