I don't really buy into the idea that bad defenders will become good ones if they come here. If anything the fact that we have so many good defenders will make the bad ones more obvious targets to attack.

If you have Anthony Black, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and Jonathan Isaac (4 of the 5 best defensive players on this team for my money) on the court with Anfernee Simons, the opposition are just going to attack Simons over and over.

I disagree. I lived in Southern California and in my 20s they called me Hollywoo because I had no D. I played every day and could shoot lights out from distance so I always got picked up, but just couldn't get the hang of guarding people well. I went to college at 30 and learned to play outstanding D. I played in leagues until I was 55 and I always guarded the best shooter on the other team. My county team won a lot of championships because I was able to shut down the best shooters. I learned to stick so close to them that they didn't even have room to bring the ball up to shoot. Hands up, move the feet. It CAN be taught!

Knecht dropped 37 tonight. Hit 9 threes.

I wonder which one out of Knecht, McCain and TDS we would have drafted if they all were available?

If i’m the GM, i probably would have drafted McCain, just because i thought that’s the player who would have complimented our starting lineup perfectly.

Puuh and after that, it’s really close. I probably would have stuck to TDS, because he’s the best fit on our overall roster and i’m still sticking to the Franz 2.0 or Franz light name..

Agree. Defense is very teachable. Has to do with effort, technique, anticipation, bball iq and physical capabilities.

It’s easier to learn defense than offense imo. It’s just that offense is more fun for most people and that’s were they put the effort in.

But if you come to an environment where there is a defensive mentality, i have rarely whitnessed somebody not getting better at it. In my experience it’s always players who think they are stars that don’t get better at defense, or have huge physical disadvantages.

That’s my point with Simons. I don’t know why he’s bad at defense. My only explanation is that he grew up in environments and learned from vets that don’t value defense.

My point is that had he learned from KCP and other defensive minded guards, he’d be a different player right now, because he learned from Lilliard and McCollum.

Look at D. Mitchell. He’s been labeled a terrible defender when he was with Utah. I don’t think you can say that about him now!

Watching Boston i do see a couple of players that remind me of Orlando players

Jalen Suggs is a super speed version of Derrick White! I believe Suggs can even be better than White, but right now Suggs is trying to do too much. He should study Whites game and do what he does. Suggs tends to try to show that he’s special. He’s trying to be a go to scorer, he’s trying to constantly hit Logo 3s, he’s trying to split screens in a pick and roll and many more high level stuff. i would tell him “Stop it!!!! Just be you. You are a special player as it is, stop trying to be special”

WCJ. He could really be our Horford. I hope he stays healthy and i hope he can consistently knock down that 3!

That's cool.

But your anecdotal story of one person, yourself a non-pro player, isn't going to convince me that a guy who's been in the NBA for 7 seasons and has never been a good defender will suddenly become one.

Chauncey Billlups, whatever you think of him as a coach or a man, was a part of some of the best defenses of all time. I find it hard to believe he doesn't expect his players to play good defense.

Same here. Please check and advice. Thanks !!!

Just FYI on this. I don't think there's anything anybody can do. I've got the same issue and in fact a lot of the functionality of the forum doesn't really work for me. And I'm a mod and I can't see any special buttons to press to fix this kind of thing. Admittedly I almost exclusively access the forum by phone, not sure if that'd change on a desktop browser.

If there was a fix it would likely require an admin and don't think any of them are active anymore. But honestly it's probably that this is an old forum not well equipped to deal with modern browsers.

Cole for Schroder is such an obvious move that we should make.

Yea Id do that. I guess though you have to consider do you give up assets for a one year rental of Schroder? Because Nets aren't doing Cole for Schroder straight up I don't think.

If Schroder would extend for less than he currently makes it makes sense but if he'd want a pay rise that's going to be difficult.

We're only 8 million under the second apron next year at the moment and we need to avoid that at all costs until we're absolutely certain this is a championship contender, we'll likely make some room to maneuver but the only moves we can actually make really are declining Gary Harris, which we likely will do, and declining Mo Wagner which I could see us doing if we can convince him to sign for slightly less money (he lives with and is blood related to a guy we'll be paying 38 million dollars so hopefully that helps us pay him slightly under market value).

Realistically we can't currently afford the two first round picks we have this year without being a first apron team which I imagine we'll try and avoid. I expect if we can't find a trade that helps us we can trade at least one of those into the future though.

I wonder how long KCP will actually be on the team, considering all the cap implications we have ahead. He’s a very tradeable vet, but an expensive contract and AB is pretty clearly the future backcourt mate with Suggs and might be ready quicker than we anticipated.

Also, was messing around with the trade machine and need to walk back trading Wendell, looks like he can’t be moved this season due to being extended off an existing contract in the off-season.

I watched this video. It’s not too great tbh honestly, but i did find it interesting to see at the 9:44 mark.

This was after the Philly game. And this content creator, apparently a friend of TDS, joined the whole Magic team to go Bowling after the game. At least that’s what he said. In the video you can see TDS, Franz, Mo, AB, Paolo and i believe Suggs.

I’ve never seen this type of chemistry on ANY team!! Never
