TreyMachine 423 Report post Posted July 15, 2024 1 hour ago, orlandoholic said: but to be fulfill the story. The pick was really quite unrealistic to convey to the Magic/Sixers.. it was OKCs pick and Muscala had a career game that secured them a W. Had OKC lost, that pick would have conveyed into two second round picks aka Cash Considerations.. And if the Magic believed in Maxey they would have selected him at 15.. For me i was hyped about Cole and Maxey in that draft. Got a lot of heat about Maxey, but i’ve seen his workouts and you could just see he got it all. I remained on the Cole train though because we needed a PG and i thought his ceiling was prime Kemba Walker. Word „on the street“ is that Orlando would have probably drafted RJ Hampton over Maxey anyway I still will never understand the infatuation with RJ Hampton. I get that he was long and athletic, but he was (and continued to be) and VERY bad decision maker and we traded for him, which means we were VERY high on him compared to where he was drafted. Maybe our thought was that if he was able to understand the game, he had a higher ceiling than anyone else there (common WeltHam move), but I just never saw it. hootie249 318 Report post Posted July 15, 2024 I'll go even farther back and remind you of OG Anunoby. Another guy long and athletic like Hampton. Henny secured us the second of two first round picks from the Raptors in that terrible trade with Ibaka that we pretty much had to make because he messed up. I remember at the time i couldn't believe he could only get the second pick not the first or both. Well later on Weltham take over and rumor is they wanted OG Anunoby but he was scooped up a few picks earlier by......Toronto! So the Magic trade the pick we got because now our guy was taken by the freaking team we traded with! Ibaka and the Raptors get a ring and we get taken to the cleaners. Luckily we got to root for the Human Torch for a few years but he really wasn't very good.

hootie249 318 Report post Posted July 16, 2024 Smart move. Play on a contender, rebuild your worth. He is young enough. Now that i'm living in Denver i am surprised more free agents aren't willing to ring chase for the Nuggets. Are guys just really into the money now? When i was younger plenty of players would sign low money one year deals in hopes of getting a ring.

For whatever reason it seems like the Nuggets seem content with the one title and have been afraid to get into the luxury tax to maintain a dynasty. Let Brown walk a year ago and then KCP this year. They’re wasting away the rest of Joker’s prime. Frustrating

NBA has changed, it's not same teams every year anymore, so it's also difficult for those players to understand which one will be a real contender, and which ones not. At this point, does it make sense to add Tyus Jones on a 1 year deal? the big problem is that you can’t play Tyus and Cole together imo. So i think we’ll keep it like it is. Our last addition could be Maledon. Let’s see what he got in the summer league games. I think he’ll play when they shut AB down.
