Soul Bro 1,453 Report post Posted July 12 4 hours ago, orlandoholic said: https://x.com/ballislife/status/1811426445144604936?s=46 never heard this story about Duncan from the perspective of anybody else than McGrady. Grant Hill tells the same story. It’s a shame, Doc wasn’t ahead of the game in that area. We probably would’ve developed into a powerhouse with Duncan, T Mac and i don’t even mind an injured G. Hill That single decision by Doc set this franchise back decades.
The Neighborhood Bully 272 Report post Posted July 12 Quote One guy of interest, though, who could help the Lakers check a few boxes remains a possible trade target: Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. And one executive said he’s still the kind of player the Lakers should be looking for. “Fairly young, probably a little undervalued because of his red flags (injuries) and still tapping into his skillset,” the exec told Heavy Sports. “The contract is right, it makes sense for them. That’s a guy they’re monitoring, but a lot of teams are.” It does make sense, but with some caveats. First, the Magic would need to accept what the Lakers might be willing to give up for Carter Jr. They’d likely want a first-round pick, but the Lakers might not want to pay that price, at least not yet. The Lakers could send D’Angelo Russell for Carter, but the magic would want some youth. That means either a pick or last year’s first-rounder, Jalen Hood-Schifino. The Magic do need help at point guard, and need a scoring boost to help an offense (22nd in efficiency in the NBA) that could not keep up with the team’s excellent defense (third in the NBA) last season. https://heavy.com/sports/nba/los-angeles-lakers/trade-for-wendell-carter Nothing like another Magic center to LA rumor. Lakers can keep dreaming if they think we're taking Jalen Hood-Schifino for WCJ lmao. Every single team in the NBA wants a starting calibre big man who's 25 years old and makes less than the mid level and fans of these teams expect us to give him up for their garbage.

I'm in sales and that's why when you go to the table you know EVERYTHING about the competition who is trying to win over your client and how they've probably pitched. If Doc says, "Hey - we never have, and it's not normal, but I'm happy to run it up the chain if it's important to you." The "I don't know let me get back to you" response would have given leadership time to think about it as Tim Duncan was seen as a generational player. Honestly, for TD's legacy, I'm happy he stayed with Pop. But as a Magic fan, I'm obviously devastated. Here's a real question: Do you trade maybe 4 years (before it implodes with Doc as coach) of TMac/Duncan/Hurt Grant Hill (remember he played almost none of 2000 and 2001) and a bunch of scrubs at the vet minimum b/c we'd have no other cap space from 2000-2004 (height of Lakers/Nets years) for our 2006-2010 run with D12/Turk/Lewis/Nelson (we never get Dwight Howard if we're not horribly bad in 2003)? We all know that we didn't end up with a championship but man were those good times.

I thinks it’s more of a tactical decision by his agents and him https://x.com/wojespn/status/1811867939014082601?s=46 hes eligible for a massive 469 mil contract in 2029. I think it’s a win win situation but also a huge risk for Brunson. He doesn’t know what happens down the road with injuries and whatnot. So i don’t think it’s a given fact he’ll see that max extension down the road. He ain’t in that tier like Lebron.

CTMagicUK 1,522 Report post Posted July 13 I'll be more than happy if Jett Howard can be a Kevin Huerter type player (which I think is a pretty reasonable comp in terms of size + shooting + some secondary passing). Not going to get my hopes up he's Devin Booker until he plays real NBA minutes.
